I'm happy to introduce The Fantasy Book Club, a new reading group for students interested in exploring the fantasy genre through discussion and shared reading. The club aims to create a relaxed space where we can enjoy talking about style and ideas in contemporary fantasy literature. Everyone is welcome to register and join the club using the link below but please note that all readings will be conducted in English. In this website, you can find information on our meetings times and locations, what we're currently reading and what we've read so far.
If you’ve ever picked up a book everyone seems to love only to abandon it halfway through... you’re not alone! Most people don’t know what kind of reader they are, which is why they waste time on books they never finish. Fortunately, everyone looooooves a good quiz, amirite? The quiz above is built on more than just genres because most readers don’t realize that what they enjoy in a book goes far beyond genre. It’s about pace, tone, character depth, emotional resonance and even the way a story is told. The quiz is designed to get beneath the surface of your reading preferences by exploring how you think, feel, and approach stories rather than by simply asking "what's your favorite genre?". The quiz will tell you what 'color' are you as a reader. You'll even get some recommendations and you can sign up for the newsletter and get more recs every other week.
The Fantasy Book Club – Rules for new members
1) Respect everyone’s opinions. You can disagree but do it politely. No interrupting, mocking or belittling other members’ views.
2) Avoid major spoilers without warning.
3) Read the assigned material (as much as possible). Life happens but try to be prepared so discussions are richer for everyone.
4) Let everyone speak. Be mindful of quieter members and give them space.
5) Be open to a variety of fantasy subgenres. From epic to urban, grimdark to cosy. Keep an open mind toward books that may not be your usual style.

7) Respect meeting times. Arrive on time and notify the group if you’ll be late or absent.
8) Support the community spirit. Participate, share recommendations and help foster a positive environment for all members.
