An aged society is a society in which comprises people aged 65 or above more than seven percent of the population. The current study provides a review of foreign literature about how to make medical system more age-friendly and aims to compare the difference between Taiwan’s medical environment and foreign one. In this research we discovered that "The Framework of Age-Friendly Hospitals" in Taiwan cared about software mostly, conversely, foreign country cared about hardware more.
The researcher cooperated with certain Taichung’s hospital and used "Taiwan’s Framework of Age-Friendly Hospitals" to confirm if the hospital accord with age-friendly requirement. Semi-structured interview and questionnaire were employed to collect opinions from 30 elder people.
The main findings showed that this hospital needs improvement both in hardware and in software. Furthermore, due to the function decline, elder patients need volunteers and staff to help them. But there are only few volunteers in this hospital. There are still many dimensions need to be improved to make sure the hospital is age-friendly.
