The interaction between human and environment beyond our imagination. Creating a different atmosphere of the space will be able to bring people different feelings, thereby affecting people's thoughts、behavior、satisfaction and so on. hospital is a saving life and need absolutely cautious. However, in Taiwan's medical environment, treatment is the only small part of all medical treatment process. patients spend most of the time on waiting. Among them, the longest time is waiting for seeing doctor. So waiting space plays an important role on how patients evaluate the hospital. What kind of arrangement of elements can let patients have comfortable and relaxing experience during the waiting time? But there are few medical-related research to conduct waiting space. In this study, as a pilot study of environmental psychology applied in the medical field, cooperating with Taichung Veterans General Hospital researching building and using experimental Method. The subjects were randomized into eight different scenarios to simulate the complete medical treatment process. And analyzing the differences mood in different scenarios with quantitative methods. Moreover the study analyzed the gender differences as supplement. This study expand the application scope of picture superiority effect and compare the result with natural landscape and television studies of the past. And we recommend following principles and directions in considering the layout of the waiting space in the hospital. First, Placing a clear line of figurative paintings. Second, Setting planting or other natural elements in the waiting room. Third, play some peaceful types of program like patient instructions program videos. It is hoped, based on these guidelines, the hospital managers could arrange a waiting space that make the waiting people feel at ease and relaxed.
