U.S. Navy photo in header by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Justin A. Schoenberger. Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited.
All presentations on Monday, February 24 and Tuesday, February 25 must be cleared for public release as required by your organization.
Unless otherwise indicated, talks are 20 minutes long. Plan for speaking for 15 minutes and allowing 5 minutes for questions. See below for Submission Procedures. There is no required template, but you’re encouraged to use the NAML 2025 Logo graphic.
Tips for Talk presenters
We recommend formatting your slides for 16:9 screen size to make full use of the widescreen displays
We recommend providing your slides in PowerPoint format to facilitate simpler, fullscreen presentation
If your presentation has special fonts or equations, PDF format could ensure that those show up properly on our machines
We do not recommend videos in the slides as they may cause your file to be too large or not play properly on our machines
We recommend planning to have your slides displayed by Underline's (for Unrestricted days) or our (for Restricted days) machines
This is so that we can keep recordings of the talks for future reference
If you absolutely must use your own machine to display slides, please contact the appropriate POCs as soon as possible to confirm we have equipment compatible with your device (Unrestricted sessions POC: naml2025@underline.io; Restricted sessions POC: naml@us.navy.mil)
All posters must be cleared for public release as required by your organization.
The NAML workshop has technical poster sessions in the style of those held at academic conferences. These posters typically include the main objectives and results of a project with a few technical details to help the presenter describe their work to the viewer. See below for Submission Procedures
We can print your poster for you, but it will need to be cleared for release and sent to us no later than Monday, January 27, 2024. Otherwise you can bring your own poster to display. If we are printing your poster, please use our poster template (horizontal poster or vertical poster) to ensure correct sizing--you can change the graphics as you see fit as long as you keep the overall poster dimensions the same. If you opt to print/bring your own poster, we recommend a printed size of 30" x 40”. We will provide an easel and a poster board to which we can tape your poster for display.
NAML 2025 is experimenting with Lightning Talk presentations during a session on one of the Restricted Days. We are doing this as a way of accommodating all of our submissions while avoiding the logistical challenges of doing a CUI-level poster session. This is experimental, and we appreciate your willingness to trailblaze this format with us. Please use our Lightning Talk template, and see below for additional Submission Procedures.
What the heck is a Lightning Talk?
We will have 20-ish presenters share their project back-to-back.
Only one (1) slide per presenter (we recommend using this template to ensure consistent sizing across all our Lightning Talk presenters)
Two minutes to talk
No questions
After all the talks, there will be lots of time to socialize with the audience and other presenters to ask questions and exchange contact info.
Slides will be shared with attendees afterwards (unless you don’t wish to share)
Details subject to change
Talks will all be at the CUI level. No classified presentations.
Submit your presentation materials following the appropriate steps for your presentation day/type no later than Friday, February 14, 2025.

If you requested that we print your poster for you, you must separately submit your poster to naml@us.navy.mil no later than Monday, January 27, 2024 (note, this deadline is earlier than that for uploading presentation materials to Underline)
The form has an option to upload a short video describing your poster. We are not using the video option this year, so please disregard.
Please send your presentation material through the appropriate channels based on classification level
SECRET sessions: Send slides on SIPR to Mitch Manzanares and Katie Rainey (mitch.manzanares@spawar.navy.smil.mil, krainey@spawar.navy.smil.mil ) with subject line "NAML 2025 slide submission" and notify us of your submission on NIPR (mitch.c.manzanares.civ@us.navy.mil with CC to naml@us.navy.mil) with subject line "NAML 2025 slide submission"
If you have CUI materials to be presented during a SECRET session, you can submit using either sessions' method
We CANNOT move slides down from JWICS to SIPR, so we will not accept slides submitted on JWICS.
CUI sessions: Send slide(s) using appropriate document handling such as via encrypted email or DoD SAFE (https://safe.apps.mil/) with password encryption to naml@us.navy.mil. Please provide decryption passphrase to naml@us.navy.mil (be sure to double-check your passphrase for spaces, lower/upper case, or special characters when setting and sending).
If you do not possess CAC card, you will need to email naml@us.navy.mil to have us request a DoD SAFE drop-off from you
