Visual Arts 10 is a foundational course that introduces students to the elements of art through a variety of mediums. Students learn fundamental techniques in observational drawing with graphite, ink, soft pastel, and Conté. We learn to paint with oil pastels, watercolour, and acrylics. Students will also be introduced to collagraph printmaking and clay sculpture. You do not need to be good at drawing to do well in this course. We will also learn about a range of artworks and artists from different time periods and cultures. Throughout the course, students work to develop their Art Journal that includes both assigned prompts and independent pages. This course provides a solid foundation for Visual Arts 11.
