Hello 3/4 Families...

I hope you are doing well during this unsettled and unsettling time. By now you have likely heard that HRCE is moving to online learning. This will begin on Thursday April 29th. Please expect an update from the administration of St. Stephen's very soon. I will follow up tomorrow with more detailed information, including updated schedules for Google Meets and information about how instruction and assignments will be delivered.

There is a great deal of uncertainty right now. I understand there are many questions about what learning will look like over the next couple weeks. I know many of you are facing the additional challenge of having to make arrangements for childcare. I am thinking of you all and sending my best wishes that things will go smoothly for you and your family. My fingers are crossed that this move to at-home learning will be just what we need to slow the spread of COVID in our province.

I will be in touch soon. Take care,

Kelly

❄️Reminders:

✏️ School Supplies - Several students are low on school supplies. In particular, white board markers and pencils are in short supply. Please check in with your child to see if they need any items for learning. Thx!

😷 Keeping Distance and Mask-wearing - We have all seen the number of cases of COVID 19 rising in other provinces. At school, students are reminded every day that maintaining physical distance (when possible) and proper mask-wearing are precautions that students are expected to take. Hands-on play is not allowed. Please support our efforts at school by reminding your child of the importance of these safety measures. Thank you! 🙏

Online Learning Information

When you have a moment, please read the document below. It relates to the plan for 3/4 Dodge should St. Stephen's be directed by NS Public Health to move to Online Learning. (*Feel free to ignore if you already read the email I sent with the same information. )

Thank you for taking the time to familiarize yourself with some of the routines, schedules and expectations related to online learning. ***I am sharing this information "just in case". My goal is to help students and their families (and me!) feel prepared should circumstances dictate that we move to learning at home. My fingers are crossed that we will continue to learn together at school 🤞

⭐ Please Note: You will not be able to go on the 3/4 Google Classroom to preview learning tasks for Online Learning. Assignments will only be made accessible in the event that St. Stephen's is directed to move to online learning.

About Me

My name is Kelly Dodge. I live with my family in the beautiful north end of Halifax. I have been teaching for twenty years and this is my thirteenth here at St. Stephen's School.

I love reading, cooking, and finding ways to be creative. I also enjoy getting outdoors and exploring nature. I often bump into students and their families in the neighborhood when I am walking or jogging (very s-l-o-w-l-y) with my dog, Coco. (If I don't greet you, it is most likely because I am not wearing my glasses. Please say hello!)

I love being a teacher. I think kids are the best people. I am grateful that I get to spend my days learning alongside such interesting and inspiring young people!
