The Advanced Maths Support program hosted a Maths Feast at Notting Hill & Ealing High School. Two groups of 4 Year 10 GNSA students attended this event. For Year 10 students, this was a fun educational task that put their problem-solving and teamwork abilities to the test. There were several rounds, and each required a distinct set of abilities and approaches to win. Our students competed against students from all London-areas. All of our students enjoyed the competitive environment and teamwork.
Four of our Year 7 students attended 24 Maths challenge which Ruislip high school hosted. Schools across the borough participated in this event. The challenge is to create the number 24 by adding, subtracting multiplying, or dividing all given four numbers. There were three stages, each getting harder as it included using double digits, fractions and decimals. GNSA was represented by Kavish, Armaandeep, Charnapreet and Dhannraj and we came on the top 4 ranking.
March 14 (3/14) is celebrated as Pi Day all over the world. The mathematical constant known as pi, or the Greek letter "," is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. Pi day was marked by GNSA through a variety of activities. Our Year 7 and 8 students created pi-inspired artwork by depicting it as a vibrant network. Our Year 9 and 10 students engaged in crossword puzzle, Pi-themed word search, and dingbats games.
