With just one half term left until the Summer holidays, Year 3 are working harder than ever.
From mathematicians to artists, chefs to biologists, all pupils have tried their hardest to excel in whatever subject they are focusing on.

Ryan the Reader helps us to develop our reading skills.
Reading is a skill for life so it's very important to read for at least 30 minutes every day to become a confident reader!

Pupils had an exciting experience visiting the NPS and GNSP library for the 'Pleasure for Reading' session. They enjoyed browsing the range of books and had a great time settling down to enjoy a good book.

This term, our budding musicians have been learning how to play the ukulele.
After being shown the different parts of the instrument, year 3 have been plucking and strumming chords, just like professionals. They have even started composing their songs using all the skills taught by Mr St John.

In Punjabi, pupils have been learning to read and write the 41 letters of the Punjabi alphabet. We have been using the letters to make Mukta words and singing along to Punjabi songs to help with our Punjabi speaking.
In Science this term, Year 3 have been learning all about how plants grow. To help do this the pupils set up an investigation to discover what affects the growth of plants. They decided what their investigation question would be, and the equipment they would need and wrote a comprehensive method of how they planted the Basil seeds. With the investigations ready, the children have been observing and recording any changes to their plants, getting extremely excited over the sight of green shoots in the pots.
Pupils have also learnt how plants absorb water by drawing and labelling a stick of celery which had been soaking in blue water! They were able to see the tiny holes used to transport water all around the plant and marvelled at the fact the green leaves had turned blue.
This week Year 3 turned into chefs and applied their amazing culinary skills to make Rhubarb Crumble. As part of our Design Technology lesson on 'Seasonal Foods', pupils' had the opportunity to write a recipe and follow the method and healthy and safety instructions to make this tart flavoured treat.
Pupils then took on the task of evaluating their finished product by doing the taste test, identifying what went well and thinking about how they could improve this dish next time. We hope you enjoyed tasting their delicious desserts at home too!
Pupils have been building on their geographical knowledge this half term by learning about the local area and linking their skills as a Geography to learn about the world around them.

Choir
Our talented choir have been coming to their weekly sessions to enjoy and develop their singing with their singing teacher Mr St John. The choir have been learning the song 'This is Me' from the movie 'The Greatest Showman' and have done an amazing job singing in tune.
We look forward to hearing their sensational voices at the end of year Summer Concert!
Football Star
We are always proud of all our pupils at school however it is just as exciting to hear about the achievements of our pupils outside of school too.
Congratulations to Fateh who was awarded a certificate and a glamourous trophy for being the best defender in a football match.
