At NPS we celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week which took place from Monday 13 – Sunday 19 May 2024. The theme, as set by the Mental Health Foundation, was “Movement: moving for our mental health.”
The children were taught in PSHE about the importance of mental wellbeing and shared ideas on what makes them happy.
This year, we'd like you to move your way by finding something that moves your body and mind. Take some time out for yourselves!
Every lunch time all children and staff participated in a variety of keep fit activities such as; yoga, bhangra, active walking, dancing and mindfulness!
They enjoyed Keeping Active!
At NPS the children had a special visit from a Dentist who came to visit all classes teaching them about the importance of dental care and hygiene. The pupils learnt about the importance of healthy eating, and how to brush their teeth and they even got a chance to have a Q&A with him about his job as a Dentist.
Please encourage your children to brush at least twice a day to practice good oral hygiene. They should visit a Dentist to get a check-up regularly and limit their sugar intake which can negatively impact their teeth and gum health. Happy brushing!
At NPS the children learnt about the top 14 allergens that can affect people in different ways. They all attended an allergy awareness assembly and had a talk in their classes to become more aware of this topic. The children learnt about the common signs and symptoms people can experience when having an allergic reaction. They also learnt about how to stay safe and the importance of an EpiPen in the event of an anaphylaxis reaction that could help save lives.
The children left feeling more aware of allergies and were able to share key facts!
In PSHE this half term, the children have been covering the topic of 'Physical and mental wellbeing' and have been sharing ideas on ways to stay fit and healthy both physically and mentally. They have explored ways to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle by setting healthy habits with sleep, diet, hygiene and exercise routines. They continue to learn strategies to explore feelings and emotions in different situations and how issues can be resolved through discussions, debates and role play.
