Year 1 Highlights
Year 1 Highlights
We are so proud of all pupils for their progress and achievement this half term. Every day they come into school with a positive attitude and always try their best. They have made fantastic progress in their learning, demonstrating enthusiasm and resilience in everything they do.
1MS have had a countdown to Christmas! We have had the cheeky elves visit daily and have enjoyed seeing what new mischievous things they have been doing. They have taken part in dressing the Christmas tree and many Christmas crafts. Not forgetting the preparation for the Christmas performance! It's been wonderful to see the children so engaged and enjoying this magical time of the year.
English- "Unleashing Our Imagination"
This term, the children have enjoyed working on the story "The Gruffalo" and created a fantastic retell of the story as well as creating their own creatures who go walking through the deep dark woods. We have been working hard on using capital letters and adjectives to make our work enjoyable for our readers and we were pleased with the end outcome.
Geography- "Discovering the Wonders of Our Local Area"
This term, we transformed ourselves into Geographers who explored our local area. We have been learning to read maps, create map symbols before creating a map of our local area!
PE- "Reach for the Stars: Gymnastics in Motion"
1MS have thoroughly enjoyed their Gymnastics sessions this term where they have been learning basic skills of jumping, rolling, balancing and travelling to create movement sequences. They used their bodies to create different shapes and were able to put these together with a small group.
No Pens Day
1MS thoroughly enjoyed our no pens day this term and learnt the importance of being able to communicate. We kick started the day with 'show and tell' where we all brought in something from home that we love. We then spent some time exploring our items with our friends. We had such a great time!
Gurpurab Celebrations
1MS enjoyed taking part in the Gurpurab Celebrations this year. We went to the Gurdwara, listened to stories about Guru Nanak Dev Ji, had langar and took part in art and crafts activities to celebrate this auspicious day.
1MS- Our World
Children have been deeply engaged in learning about the sacrifice of the Chaar Sahibzaade. Their bravery, resilience, and unwavering faith have inspired meaningful discussions during our world lessons.
