Year 4 made an excellent start to the academic year and have demonstrated a mature and positive attitude as they returned to school this term.

All pupils have settled well into their new classes and have already started making excellent progress in their learning.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the Parent Welcome Meeting last month and have supported us in setting the expectations of independence and hard work with their child's routines, responsibilities and home learning.

Read on and find out what our Year 4 superstars have been upto.  We look forward to having another fun packed half term of learning.

As we continue our reading journey in Year 4, pupils have become more competent in their reading skills.

Remember, reading is a skill for life so it's very important to read for at least 30 minutes every day to become a skilled reader!

Come and find out what some of our Year 4 pupils' have been reading.

4SS

Arjun has been reading 'Top Gear'. I chose this book because it is all about cars and I love cars. I learnt about different types of cars like Lamborghini and Bugatti.

4SW

Harleen has been reading 'Kick' by Mitch Johnson. I chose this book because the title sounded really interesting and I thought it might be about ninjas.

S.H.A.R.E Reflection

This year, we have launched a new initiative for all Year 4 pupils. Each week pupils get the opportunity to reflect on the S.H.A.R.E values and think about how they have demonstrated these at school and at home.

At the end of our reflection session, pupils nominate someone in the class who they feel has gone above and beyond in showing the S.H.A.R.E values at school.

The selected pupil gets the opportunity to share the good news with Mrs Daya, receives a special treat and their parent is notified about this amazing achievement. Well done to the pupils who have been peer nominated this half term. Keep up the good work!

4SW - Sehajpal, Harleen                      4SS - Praneesh, Rajdeep

DOJO Trophy

This year we have continued to reward our pupils for their consistent, positive behaviour through the Class Dojo points based rewards system. Pupils receive instant DOJO points for their hard work, excellent behaviour, demonstrating the S.H.A.R.E values and showing a mature attitude towards their learning.

Each week a DOJO champion is selected based on whoever has collected the highest number of points over the week and is awarded with the DOJO Trophy which they get to keep on their table for the entire week!

Congratulations to our DOJO Champions for this half term. Great work!

4SW - Japji, Avneet S, Vihaan, Sehajpal

4SS - Eliza, Samarjot, Rajdeep

Pen Licence

Congratulations to the following pupils who have achieved the Pen Licence Award this half term.

All pupils have demonstrated that their handwriting is neat, joined, consistent and of an extremely high standard across all subjects. They have been awarded a Pen Licence and a special handwriting pen which they can use during all lessons. WELL DONE!

To be eligible for a Pen Licence, pupils will need to meet the criteria below.

We look forward to awarding more licences next half term.

Pupils have been learning about the 'Ancient Egyptians' in history and used their learning of the Egyptian hieroglyphic language to create fantastic flip patterns and creative cartouches. Can you recognise the alphabet they have made?

This half term, pupils learnt the names of the different types of teeth we have and their functions. They learnt about the importance and ways of taking care of our teeth.

Pupils later turned into scientists and investigated the effects of different liquids on our teeth, which helped them understand the importance of having a healthy, balanced diet.

Year 4 have been reading the book called 'Krindlekrax'.  Children have enjoyed it and have produced some fantastic pieces of writing.

They have written detailed character descriptions, drew a map of the setting, produced eye-catching information sheets about crocodiles and written a diary entry with emotive language.

4SS Class Assembly

4SS performed the first class assembly of this year. All the children worked really hard and gave an awesome performance.  They were loud and clear, demonstrated amazing acting skills and displayed great co-ordination.
