Year 3 have settled in extremely well into their new classes and within weeks have shown great maturity, positive attitudes and high standards of work.
It has been amazing to see the pupils' confidence grow and for them to continue to take on being responsible role models at NPS.
Thank you to all the parents who attended the Parent Welcome Meeting in September and have supported the Year 3 team in setting high expectations of behaviour and hard work within the pupils.
DOJO Champions
Year 3 has launched Class Dojo which is a points based rewards system. Pupils receive instant DOJO points for hard work, excellent behaviour, demonstrating the S.H.A.R.E values and showing positive attitudes towards their learning.
Each week a DOJO champion is selected based on whoever has collected the highest number of points over the week and is awarded with the DOJO Trophy which they get to keep on their table for the entire week!

Prehistoric Writing
In English, Year 3 have been focusing on the story 'Ug' by Raymond Briggs. Pupils got into the role of the main character Ug and wrote a postcard to the future explaining how they had spent the day with Ug. After a morning of role play, they were able to write a diary entry as Dugs describing her day cooking and looking after her family.

To go alongside our English text, pupils have been learning all about how early humans created art. They have researched earthy tones and even know how to make paint! Through careful observation, the pupils were able to sketch an animal and then scale it up to a full size drawing, using charcoal.
This term's topic has seen our pupils research food groups and gain a better understanding of what the body needs to stay healthy. Learning about human and animal skeletons has been great fun for the classes as they discover how similar all living things are.
Maths
There has been a lot of hard work in our maths lessons since September, with pupils demonstrating their place value knowledge. Through partitioning, they can now add and subtract with confidence.
Our history topic has seen us travel back to the Stone Ages where year 3 have been studying the lives of early humans. As they learnt about the three periods found in the Stone Age, the pupils discovered how humans developed and improved their homes, tools and clothing.
