We are so proud of all Year One pupils for their progress and achievements this half term. They have embraced their new routines with enthusiasm and are already showing great independence and eagerness to learn. 1MS have really enjoyed their new subjects (Science, History and Computing). They have enjoyed their new topics of Animals including Humans and Families Past and Present and have produced some fantastic work! We are excited to see great things Autumn 2 brings!
It was a delight to have our parents attend our ‘roaring great tea party’. The children had a great time making jam sandwiches. The children loved sharing what they made with their families and sharing some of the fantastic work they had produced.
The Tea Party inspired some excellent writing about the day and we would like to thank all the parents and other family members for sharing this special day with us.
In our science learning, we have been learning to label and name the parts of a human body as well as exploring our 5 senses. We were sound conductors for the afternoon where we predicted where in NPS would we hear the loudest and quietest sound! We then transferred ourselves into ‘flavour detectives’ where we tasted a range of foods to get out taste buds tingling!
As part of our history topic 'My Family History', we had the pleasure of welcoming one of the grandparents from our class! He kindly shared his memories of what being a child was like over 60 years ago, giving us a fascinating glimpse into the past.
We loved hearing stories about how different school life was in the past particularly the punishments that were given! We decided to practice being a ‘murgi’ (chicken)!
We have loved getting creative in our Art lessons this term! We have looked at abstract paintings and made marks to represent a range of objects. We were inspired by the artist Zaria Forman and decided to recreate our own river drawings using different lines that we had learnt about!
