Welcome to the first Wellbeing page for this academic year! We hope that you all had a lovely, relaxing summer break and that your batteries are fully recharged for the year ahead. The return to school is always exciting but, understandably, comes with certain levels of anxiety.
Please do talk to us about any worries or concerns that you or your child may be experiencing. You can talk to your child’s Class Teacher or any member of staff. We will always listen and try and help in any way we can.
Also, please do look after yourselves and a gentle reminder to practise some self-care for yourselves as parents as we know how busy life can get.
Stay positive and keep spreading kindness!
This term, the children in KS1 and KS2 have been learning about the topic 'Families and Friendships' and have enjoyed their PSHE lessons. The pupils have had a chance to learn about the different types of families and what makes a loving family by discussing their ideas and considering others' views too. The pupils have identified common features of family life and recognised other shared characteristics of healthy family life, including commitment, care, spending time together; and being there for each other in times of difficulty.
In Reception, we use a PSHE whole-school approach scheme of learning called 'JIGSAW'. This scheme incorporates a mindful approach to the curriculum which helps children understand and value who they are and how they fit in and contribute to the world. It keeps the children at the heart of its curriculum. This term's topic is Being Me In My World.
The pupils have a special JIGSAW buddy called 'Jigsaw Jaz' who helps to teach and set the context for certain issues and topics. This is Jigsaw Jaz who helps the children to talk and share their views in a child-friendly manner. They love holding and being responsible for Jigsaw Jaz, especially during carpet circle time talks!
A good PSHE education is so important for children as it teaches them to develop the skills to help live healthy, safe, productive, fulfilled, capable and responsible lives.
This half term we launched Tootoot with our Year 3 classes as a brand new online platform for pupils to share any concerns or worries.
Remember - you always have someone to talk to and we are always here to listen to you!
