Reception Superstars
We are so proud of all the pupils in RKJ, they have settled down so well to the routines of the school day. They enter the class with big smiles and greetings - they are full of confidence and enthusiasm for the school day. They loved sharing their 'Marvellous Me' boxes and talking about their families and what they like. They have settled into lunchtimes and make us very proud when they try the different dishes. A great start to their school journey!
Elmer The Patchwork Elephant
In our Class Elmer has taught the pupils all about kindness and being a good friend but most of all about being unique and how it is good to be different. We are all special in our own way. He has already had some weekend adventures with our pupils and is excited to share more adventures with every pupil in RKJ.
We have learnt about our school's S.H.A.R.E Values and how words like 'please' and 'thank you' are so important. We hope these values have followed through at home, we would love to hear about how they do this outside of school via Tapestry or their home school diary.
Owl Babies
This lovely story was a favourite in our class and lots of pupils understood how the owlet Bill felt when he said: "I want my mummy." We learnt about owls and other nocturnal animals and loved 'swooping' around the classroom like mummy owls. The pupils used the technique of 'dabbing' to create a lovely art piece of the three owlets.
Indoor and Outdoor Fun
We have had fun learning through play, the pupils made lots of delicious dishes in the home corner, visited the Doctor's surgery and explored lots of different areas in the classroom. Outside a favourite has been riding our bikes and filling up at the petrol station. We also planted some wildflowers and look forward to seeing them bloom in Spring.
For Black History Month, we have been listening to lots of different stories from children all around the world.
We are learning to read and write
We have started our phonics and are so proud of how RKJ are learning their phonemes. They are beginning to form letters correctly, blend and read words. We hope you enjoy reading with them at home. Don't forget to look in their yellow folders and on Tapestry for the weeks phonemes. They are also making great progress in learning to write their names - keep practising at home.
Goldilocks and The Three Bears
What fun we have had with this story, acting, retelling and making porridge on World Porridge Day. The children can talk and act like the bears and Goldilocks. They drew and wrote 'bad' for the choices she made and wrote 'sad' for the way she made the bears feel.
