Reception have been busy trying to solve the mystery of the crime scene they found in their classroom. They investigated acting like police officers and detectives and explored all aspects of the crime scene thoroughly! They enjoyed using and applying their problem-solving skills and exploring what could have happened. They did conclude that Goldilocks was in fact the perpetrator! The pupils then brainstormed ideas on how they could help her make better choices next time. Well done Reception for solving this crime!
Both Reception classes had the opportunity to make porridge as part of their 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' story week. All pupils learnt how to make porridge, they experimented with different textures and even tasted porridge using different toppings such as jam, honey and fruit! Whilst most pupils preferred 'sweet' over 'salt', it was a wonderful experience for them to try new flavours and learn new vocabulary such as; mixing, stirring, pouring, warm, hot, cold and consistency.
They also applied their cross-curricular learning by experimenting with size by using small, medium and large sized bowls, spoons and other items. The pupils loved the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' and were also able to re-tell the key parts of the story throughout this week.
