The Design and Technology team are excited to welcome our new year 7 students and to introduce them to Food & Nutrition, DT Textiles and DT materials technology.
In KS3 Students not only learn the fundamental subject knowledge of all three specialisms but also learn to use machinery and make meals and products. In year 9 students also take part in a national design competition organised by the Design Museum.
We also offer a wide variety of clubs at lunchtime and after school for students to join.
The Art department is excited to welcome our new year 7 artists through an exciting and thought provoking look at Art and its creative links to the wider world. Students are actively involved in a range of competitions both within the school and internationally. There are so many wonderful opportunities for you, including an art drop in club, where you get to unbind your creative mind and make what you desire.
In year 7 students have created these wonderful anatomical heart drawings by directly transcribing an observational drawing by the master himself Leonardo Da Vinci. I'm sure you will agree they are truly breathtaking.
In year 8 students have started to look at the work of Tim Burton creating a range of original portraits and posters that show the creativity and style evident in Tim Burton's methodology. All are captivating in their own way by combining humour and horror. These characters will be sculpted using plasticine to create some more striking work.
In year 9 students have looked at Brutalist architecture and have started to learn one point and two point perspective. They will eventually be designing their own Brutalist structures and moving into more model making.
