Our Climate Action group of Year 9's has been divided into four groups who have focused on four key ways that GNS MAT can improve our carbon footprint - recycling, tree planting, energy efficiency, and garden club. Here you can see some of the groups presenting their ideas to the whole group.
On 6th December, each group will present their ideas to the school's Senior Leadership Team for approval. This means that we can move onto the next phase, which is bringing in great ideas and actually making a difference!
....and elsewhere in Geography, the Year 7's are learning about how and where volcanoes and earthquakes are located, as part of the science of plate tectonics; Year 8's are learning about the physical and human geography of our country - the UK; and Year 9's are studying how glaciation affected the landscape of the UK.
At GCSE level, the Year 10's are studying how the UK's physical landscape has and continues to change, and the Year 11's have sat their mock exams and are coming towards the end of the syllabus by studying environmental geography.
The A level group in Year 12 is studying coastal processes and change, before they go for a days' fieldwork in 2022 on this topic. The Year 13's are engaged in their mock exams before returning to the Carbon Cycle within the syllabus. The Year 13's will also be carrying out their individual fieldwork shortly as part of their non-examined assessments.
All years have either sat their mocks or half-termly GEM assessments, or will shortly do so. So good luck to those about to take them!
