Gurpurab celebrations to mark the 552nd Anniversary of

Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth

Gurpurab was celebrated at GNSA Primary to mark the 552nd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The theme for this year’s Gurpurab was 'ONENESS’. Guru Nanak Dev Ji travelled around the world to spread the holy message of peace and compassion to all of mankind. Guru Ji taught people about the oneness of God, the equality of men and women and the importance of labour and hard work.

Our week-long celebrations began with special lessons and assemblies focusing on the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. All the Sikh Studies lessons were based on the life and legacy of Guru Ji. During these lessons, students were able to look deeper into the life and contributions of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

On Thursday 18th November 2021, Gurpurab celebrations began with a special assembly at the school Gurdwara in which special guests were invited to perform Kirtan and Katha. Our children recited Punjabi poems related to Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life and legacy.

At lunch time the canteen was infused with lovely aromas of the Langar served to all staff and students.

This auspicious day was celebrated with enjoyable activities. Special lessons and activities were organised centred around Guru Ji’s message of unity and respect for all. Pupils made their own ik onkar flower symbol to represent ONENESS. All students enjoyed drawing and decorating the ik onkar symbols on A4 cards.

May Waheguru bless us all with his love and care.
