Year 7 Resistant Materials

Year 7's have been working hard to produce their timber desk organiser, students have had the chance to work with specialist tools and equipment .

Year 8 Resistant Materials 

 Students have been working hard to design and manufacture their mechanical toys, through their time in resistant materials they have developed their understanding of the importance of mechanisms and how to design products to meet customer needs. Students were set a contextual challenge to design and make a mechanical toy for either 2-3  or 10-12 year-olds. By conducting extensive primary and secondary research they created some amazing products fit for the shelves just before Christmas.

Year 9  Food & Nutrition

  Students were challenged to plan and create A bistro two course meal, throughout their time they learned various preparations, cooking and presentation techniques to develop their skills which they then demonstrated within their final bistro dishes not only were they aesthetically pleasing but delicious too, Hats off to all our wonderful Chef's.

Year 8 Textiles 

Our students have been learning the different parts of the clothing industry and how it has an impacted  our environment, students have learnt how designers are increasingly integrating upcycling into their designs. Students have used this knowledge to create there very own designs made from old denim jeans.

Year 7 Textiles

Our students have been introduced into the important world of Textiles. They have learned a variety of different elements from  how technical textiles are used for firefighters and our armed  forces too understanding how smart materials have been developed to better our every day life. Students have also developed their fine motor skills by learning how to use the sewing machine to produce a mobile  phone case using a variety of technical and  synthetic materials using complicated quilting techniques.

Year 9 Textiles 

Students had the opportunity to develop their understanding of specialist textiles printing and decorative techniques from tie dyeing to unique printing techniques using everyday items.

Year 9 Resistant Materials

Students have had the chance to work with specialist tools and equipment to produce a complex puzzle which tests the students accuracy and precision, students experienced how companies  use working drawing to manufacture products.

Year 9 Design Ventura Competition

Design ventura is a worldwide competition that we have Incorporated into our year 9 lessons, students have had the chance to learn the process of how products are brought to market, by working in teams of four they were introduced to a variety of different careers within the design industry which they then acted upon these roles such as project managers, design managers, communications managers, and design managers. The teams were able to identify a design problem, research and identify a target audience, develop a design around their chosen target audience, and be able to financially calculate how they can bring their product to market by determining manufacturing and retail costs, this was then collaborated into a Viva presentation where students got to pitch their design ideas to a panel of judges, what a great experience for our future entrepreneurs.

Year 10 Hospitality & Catering 

Students had to create a chilli paneer dish with an accompaniment, This practical empathised how dishes can be influenced by customer needs, students needed to understand the importance of organoleptic factors and how we can cater to our 5 senses to create a fully immersed dining experience.


Art Year 8 - students are amidst creating a stylised eye that is a direct representation of them.

Art year 9-   students continue to explore architecture by looking at the work produced as a response  to brutalist architecture and comparing to the Bauhaus
