Year 10 Business has recently completed their GEMS on 1.2 of the business specification for Edexcel, this includes the topics of market research, segmentation, and the competitive business environment. They have also produced some magnificent work for one of the products they created for market segmentation. This includes a crisps company named Crunch and Munch. They have also developed a clothing line called "Pind Life". Please take your time to honor this wonderful work below and feel free to ask questions to the students when you see them.
Year 11 Business has completed Topic 2.1 and 2.2 of the Edexcel GCSE business specification. The topics consist of growing the business and making marketing decisions. This module goes into further depth and delves into Globalization and the marketing mix. This helps students understand how businesses grow and the problems they face with growing internationally. For 2.2 we revisited the marketing mix in further detail and learned how the P's play an integral part in pricing, promoting, and placing the product for consumers.
Year 12 Business
Year 12 has recently completed Unit 2 - Developing a Marketing Campaign. Students have spent time looking at marketing aims and objectives for existing products/services followed by preparation for their final assessment in January 2024.
For the assessment, students will need to:
examine the marketing aims and objectives for an existing product/service,
understand the importance of relevant, valid, and appropriate research in relation to customers’ needs and wants,
analyse market research data and other information to make recommendations about the type of marketing campaign that a business should undertake.
Year 13 Business
Students in Year 13 have spent this term studying Unit 3 Personal and Business Finance. They have learned about:
Varying attitudes to money
Saving and Investments
Borrowing money options open to savers and borrowers as well as the importance of managing a cash flow within a business.
Insurances (Pet, Life, Car, and Home)
Managing Cash Flows
Income Statements and Position Statements
Profitability and Efficiency Ratios
Students are being encouraged to thoroughly review the content taught during the festive period. Tutor2U has several live and recorded streams to support revision. Details of dates and links to each session have been provided in Google Classroom.
Year 12 Economics
Year 12's will be commencing with their second written gem on the macro component unemployment. This component consists of the different types of unemployment structural, frictional, seasonal and cyclical. They have also completed their component on the basic economic problem. We wish them luck for the upcoming GEM this Monday.
Year 13 Economics
Year 13 Economics have recently completed their chapter on exchange rates- These include managed exchange rates, fixed and floating exchange rates. Their GEM will commence this Thursday, we wish them luck in their GEMS and their Mock Exams which will commence in January.
