GMSD has adopted a Blended Learning model for using technology in the classroom. For grades 6-12, the cornerstone of that model is Schoology, our learning management system (LMS). Schoology allows teachers to create an online learning environment to support classroom teaching and enhance communication between teachers and students, as well as collaboration between teachers. Schoology is designed to be intuitive and familiar to new users and resembles existing social media platforms.

Schoology allows teachers to post resources and information for students and parents, post daily plans, and conduct classroom assignments and assessments. Middle and high school students sign into Schoology using their school-issued email and password. Parents may access their chid’s Schoology account using the same email address they have on file in Skyward. See the New Student Guide link on the left for more info on logging into Schoology. Since teachers will be posting daily plans and resources to schoology, you may not see those items being published to the teachers' public webpage. Teachers will continue to maintain a public webpage to provide contact and course info. However, frequently updated information will be posted to Schoology from this point forward. This will provide all stakeholders with an efficient way of sending and receiving information as it is needed. For more information about GMSD's blended learning initiative, click here.
