National School Counseling Week

February 1-5, 2021

This year has been like no other. Administrators, Teachers, Custodial Staff, etc. - all roles in the school system have looked different and have undoubtedly been more difficult. One role, whose duty is to support students through tough times, has been even tougher this year!

The role of School Counselors cannot be overstated - responsible for so much both behind the scenes and throughout every day, they are invaluable to each school. It's no wonder they get their own week of recognition!

To celebrate School Counselors everywhere, February 1-5, 2021 is National School Counseling Week!! This year's theme: All In for ALL Students.

With all that School Counselors do for our students, what can we do for our School Counselors? A simple, "Thank you" or small act of recognition can often go a loooooong way. Everyone likes to feel appreciated - how can we show our School Counselors they are appreciated? Here are a few simple ideas:

  1. Send a card with words of encouragement

  2. Have your student draw a picture

  3. Send in Goodies (e.g., chocolate)

  4. Allow your student to practice and demonstrate a skill learned from a School Counselor

Without a doubt, School Counselors play an essential role in our schools!
