It’s always good to go out with a bang, and RAG Week certainly ensured we did that! With over £8,000 pounds raised for charities – and still time to donate via ParentPay – the Senior Prefect Team and sixth form students have once again done themselves and the school proud. Children in Need, British Red Cross, Breast Cancer Now and Epsom Pantry will all be benefiting from the funds raised – so thank you and your daughters for your support.
I must also thank our staff for throwing themselves wholeheartedly into a range of activities, events and ‘situations’ than many colleagues in other schools simply wouldn’t in 2025 – and that is testament to the very special Rosebery culture.
As ever, Teachers’ Top of the Pops stole the show yesterday – with record tickets sales, in excess of 1,000 students were in the Sports Hall to watch the ‘Brats’ of Social Science win the show. Teams Maths, Science and Humanities also deserve special mention for making it one of the strongest lineups and fiercest competitions in recent years – if she attended, I do hope your daughter enjoyed it!
Elsewhere this week, I hope the girls enjoyed their half term celebration assemblies – there has been much to celebrate individually and collectively for each year group. Overall attendance is at an all-time high, behaviour has been outstanding, and I know that the all year groups have impressed their teachers with their academic endeavours, attainment and progress this half term – well done girls!
Our sporting teams continue to enjoy success, which you can read about later in Rosebery News, where there are also some great picture from House Benchball, and of course the Year 7 PGL residential, from which the student and staff feedback has been fabulous.
Finally, as ever, I must thank you our parents, carers and Rosebery families for your support, kindness and backing – we can only continue to do the things we do, because you are behind us, and believe in the Rosebery Way – so thank you.
Have a great half term break everyone, and remember, Monday 3 November is an INSET day, so students do not return until Tuesday 4 November, with the normal 8.30am start time and school day.

Wow - what a half term it has been! Year 7 have truly surpassed all expectations with the way they’ve transitioned from primary to secondary school, and staff feedback has been glowing.
During our half-termly Celebration Assembly, we shared how proud we are of every single student for the way they’ve embraced school life, taken on greater independence and approached everything with positivity and resilience. We also celebrated some standout individuals and congratulated our merit-winning form - well done, 7EX!
Of course, we must mention our brilliant PGL adventure this weekend. Having attended many Year 7 PGL residentials, the staff team agreed that this may have been the best cohort yet! Students showed incredible courage by getting involved and pushing themselves to new heights (literally!), and great kindness by supporting one another, cheering each other on and celebrating when someone in their group overcame a fear - no matter how big or small.
We hope you enjoy the photos included here.
As we come to the end of a busy half term, we wish Year 7 a restful break. Please encourage them to take time to do the things they love, and to rest and recharge ahead of the exciting events we have planned for after half term.

It’s hard to believe we’ve already reached the end of our first half term in Year 8! The past few weeks have flown by, and I couldn’t be prouder of how well our students have settled into the year.
This week, Miss Godsave and I had the pleasure of celebrating Year 8’s achievements in our end-of-half-term assembly. It was wonderful to hear the cheers and applause as students collected their prizes - such a lovely reminder of how much it means to be part of a supportive and encouraging year group. A special congratulations goes to the 78 students who achieved 100% attendance this half term, as well as to Anneliese L 8PX, Mahlia P 8EY and Sophie S 8EY, who earned the highest number of ePraise points in Year 8.
Well done also to Molly E 8MX, Payton L 8CX and Evelyn H 8PY, who were recognised as our Limitless Learner, Enthusiastic Engager and Aspiring Achiever for their outstanding efforts in lessons.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support this half term. I’ve really appreciated the way we’ve worked together to support your daughters—whether that’s navigating friendship challenges, encouraging attendance or keeping communication open. Teenagers can be tough, but teamwork makes all the difference!
Please encourage your daughter to rest and recharge over the break - I look forward to welcoming Year 8 back on Tuesday 4 November 2025.

What a joyful week it has been for Year 9! We’ve celebrated RAG Week, raising money for a different charity each day through events such as Teacher’s Olympics, Karaoke, and of course, the much-loved Teacher’s Top of the Pops. It’s been fantastic to see the year group -and the wider school community - come together to have fun and raise money for important causes.
A highlight of the week was Wednesday’s Celebration Assembly, where so many Year 9 students were recognised for their achievements. Awards were given for 100% attendance, zero demerits, Star of the Week, most ePraise points, club participation, and for persistent effort and engagement. We are incredibly proud of Year 9 this half term and can’t wait to see what they continue to achieve as the year progresses.
We hope you all have a lovely half-term break - it’s very well deserved! Remember to get outside, switch off your devices and enjoy some quality time with friends and family.

The first half term of the academic year is now complete, and while it has felt like an absolute whirlwind for Year 10, they have performed admirably in their first term as fully-fledged GCSE students.
The highlight of my week was celebrating their achievements in our Celebration Assembly this morning. It’s always a joy to publicly recognise Year 10 and speak about what a wonderful year group they are. Students received individual awards for merits and attendance, and although there are too many to name individually, 24 students were awarded doughnuts at break time in recognition of their relentless effort and hard work. Their tutors and teachers have gone out of their way to share how brilliant these students have been in form and lessons.
A special shoutout goes to Eleanor J 10PX, who received Mr Hewett’s award, and Hana P 10MY, who received my award - congratulations to both!
In a joyful week filled with RAG activities, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the half term than by celebrating this phenomenal group of students.
I hope you all enjoy a relaxing break, and that Year 10 return refreshed and ready to continue setting the bar high as the year progresses.

We made it! During this week’s Celebration Assembly, we shared just how proud we are of Year 11 as a cohort. They continue to impress us in lessons with their thoughtful questions and their drive to seek out opportunities for their future selves.
It’s been a jam-packed half term, and it’s certainly felt busy - understandably, we’re all feeling tired. We recognise that Year 11 don’t get as many chances to switch off as other year groups, with the November mock exams fast approaching. That’s why it’s so important for students to look after themselves, work smart and ensure their revision is meaningful.
After the break, we’ll continue to focus on our ‘Work smart, look smart’ approach. This includes expectations around jewellery and uniform, which Mr Styles has written to all students about this week.
A reminder that key dates, mock timetables and revision guidance were sent out online last week. To support your child at home over half term, please encourage them to stick to the revision timetable they created during form time this week. And just as importantly, make sure they’re well-fed, hydrated and taking time to relax too.
Wishing you all a lovely half-term break.

As we reach the end of a long half term, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on what has been an incredibly positive and productive start to the academic year in the Sixth Form.
We are immensely proud of our Year 12 students, who have embraced the transition into Sixth Form life with maturity, enthusiasm and resilience. They’ve adapted impressively to new routines and expectations, and it has been a pleasure to see them throw themselves into their A Level studies and wider Sixth Form life. Their commitment to independent learning and personal growth has already made a strong impression.
Several subjects will be holding folder checks after the half term break, so please take some time to review your work. Here are some helpful reminders:
1. Folder Organisation
Clearly labelled with your name, subject and exam board
Divided into sections (e.g. Units, Topics, Papers, Core/Optional modules)
Neatly ordered, with notes and worksheets filed chronologically or by topic
Contents page or divider tabs for easy navigation
2. Class Notes and Handouts
Complete and up-to-date notes from lessons
Printed resources or handouts annotated and used effectively
Homework and classwork filed in the correct section
Our Year 13 students continue to inspire us with their dedication and leadership. A special shout-out goes to the Senior Prefect Team (SPT), who planned and delivered another fantastic RAG Week. The week was filled with energy, creativity and community spirit, culminating in one of the highlights of the year - Teachers’ Top of the Pops - which was thoroughly enjoyed by staff and students alike. Totals raised for charity will be shared after the break.
All of this has taken place alongside the rigorous demands of A Level coursework, independent study and the completion of Non-Exam Assessments (NEAs) across various subjects. The focus, drive and determination shown by both year groups have been outstanding.
Top ePraise points this week go to Jess K in 12TEA and Marta N in 13OJM—well done to both students who continue to hold the top spot!
We wish all our Sixth Form students a restful and well-deserved half term break. We look forward to welcoming them back, refreshed and ready for the second half of the term, on Tuesday 4 November 2025.

While many children look forward to the school holidays, those with ADHD and/or autism can find the lack of structure and routine challenging. This can make the holidays a stressful time - not just for children, but for parents too.
The Autism Service has shared some excellent tips for navigating the school holidays, which you can find HERE.
The transition back to school after a break can also be difficult. If your child finds this challenging after the half-term holiday, please don’t hesitate to contact the SEN team or your child’s Year team for further support.
We’ve also noticed an increase in students bringing fidget toys into school. While these may have been used more widely in primary school, at secondary level we limit their use to students who require them to focus and concentrate in lessons. This helps us maintain the integrity of the learning environment.
Students who are permitted to use fidget toys are known to Ms Byrne, Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, and Ms Browne, SENDCO. These students are allowed to use tangles only (see image). We would be grateful if you could remind your daughter of this rule, which has also been shared in the student newsletter.
As previously advertised, Rosebery students and staff can enjoy an exclusive 20% off at Mountain Warehouse - just in time for the colder months. Whether you're gearing up for outdoor adventures or staying cosy this season, don’t miss out on this great offer!
A reminder that all students are invited to take part in the GLF Schools’ annual Christmas Card Competition - a wonderful opportunity to showcase creativity and festive cheer.
We’re looking for Christmas-themed artwork that captures the joy, warmth and magic of the season. Whether it’s snowy scenes, twinkling lights or festive characters, let your imagination shine!
Winning entries will be featured on the official GLF Schools Christmas e-card, with the artist’s first name, age and school proudly displayed. There will be one winner from primary and one from secondary.
How to Enter:
Create a portrait-oriented Christmas-themed drawing.
Email a high-resolution image of your artwork to:
📧 christmas@glfschools.org
Include your name, age, year group, and school in the email.
🗓️ Deadline: Friday 7 November
We can’t wait to see your festive creations lighting up the season. Good luck, and happy drawing!

Every student took part with incredible enthusiasm, effort and team spirit. The girls were organised, arrived promptly, and played with their House hearts in full gear. Last week saw a packed and exciting week of fixtures as our teams took on the first round of the Surrey County Cup: Year 7 on Monday against St Mark’s, Year 8 on Tuesday away to Ricards Lodge, and Year 9 on Wednesday against Kingston Academy.
Year 7 – St Mark’s
Year 7 kicked off their season with a nail-biting match that finished level and went straight to penalties. After five penalties each the score was still tied, leading to sudden death. Despite a huge effort, Rosebery were narrowly beaten. A massive well done to Players’ Player Emma K 7CX, whose determination and resilience in goal were outstanding.
Year 8 – Ricards Lodge
Year 8 travelled to Wimbledon and delivered a dominant performance, securing an 8–0 win. Molly M 8CX opened the scoring on her Rosebery debut, followed by a superb hat-trick from Chloe V 8PX. Olivia C 8MY netted another for the team after stepping out from defence, with further goals from Sophia C 8PY and Amelie D 8EX. Lauren K 8PY had a solid game in goal keeping a clean sheet despite some good attempts on goal from the opposition. Players’ Player was awarded to Kaitlyn D 8CX for her powerful runs from the back line, with a special mention to Rubie D 7MY for stepping up from Year 7 to strengthen the defence.
Year 9 – Kingston Academy
Year 9 earned a strong 3–0 victory over Kingston Academy. The goals came from Year 8’s Chloe V and Kaitlyn D, as well as Year 9's Polly H 9EX. The team played some excellent football and even received lovely comments from the opposition’s manager about their performance. Players player went again to Kaitlyn D for her fantastic dominance in midfield.
