I must start by congratulating Year 11 for navigating their mocks with aplomb. Their conduct and application have been universally praised – well done girls! They were already straight back to it, with a GCSE History Immersion day today, and I know they will be eager to action next steps and build on this positive start once they have their mock feedback and Parents’ Evening in a couple of weeks’ time.
At the other end of the school, I must congratulate the girls in Years 7 and 8 for the fundraising efforts in support of Children in Need, whilst also continuing to excel in a variety of sporting fields – including Squash and Frisbee this week! Do check out the Heads of Year sections later in Rosebery News for more detail. Karate and swimming also feature, whilst in the Year 11 section, Tila is spotlighted for her brilliant gymnastics performance representing the South East at the British Classic Challenge finals last week. It’s brilliant to be able to share and celebrate such a range of successes and experiences that our girls have outside of school, so please do keep sharing these with us, so we can ensure that our Remarkable & Proud mantra is upheld! Indeed, this is again evident in the Year 10 section, where there is special praise for Maisy, a very talented gymnast who competed at her first international tournament earlier this month as part of the junior GB squad, and is hoping to secure a spot in the GB team for the Junior European Championships in Finland next year.
Whist our girls shine bright, sadly the economic outlook in the UK is a little more gloomy. In the news, the state of the UK public finances and upcoming Autumn Budget Statement are quickly taking centre stage - so it’s timely that Mrs White is launching the first edition of ‘Our Economic Times’ today, created by her Sixth Form economics students, and that next week is Parliament Week – you can access Issue 1 of ‘OET’ later in Rosebery News where there is also more about Parliament Week.
Thank you to all of you who have already completed the GLF Parent Survey about Rosebery School – if you would still like to, please do so via the link later in Rosebery News, but note that the survey closes on Sunday.
Finally, thank you for the reduced traffic and sensible driving and drop-off on Whitehorse drive which was much improved this week. My next gentle nudge for you today is coats! Whilst the temperatures are forecast to be a touch warmer next week, it will still be cold, and at times wet, so please do ensure that your daughter wears a warm winter coat to school - every day.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Year 7 are still riding high from their Children in Need fundraising efforts last week! They have done an amazing job and we are proud to say that they managed to raise £1,778.92! This money will go to a very worthy cause, so thank you to everyone who supported Year 7.
As part of our Student Voice last half term, it was clear that the students wanted time in form to express themselves and get to know one another. As a result, we’ve brought a bit of Radio 4 to our youngest students, in the form of our ‘Just a Minute’ challenge! Students have been supported to write a short presentation about themselves, which they can take in any direction they choose. They are then invited to present for one minute so we can learn all about their passions and interests. This was a highlight for many – as you can see below.
Looking forward, as it is cold, please do encourage your child to wrap up warm, and ensure that their coats are labelled as they are often left behind in classrooms.
🏆 WEEKLY WINS 🏆
7CX: Amreen H scored 4 goals in football and Emma K placed 6th in gymnastics nationals.
7CY: A great fundraising effort for Children in Need from the form group.
7EX: The form managed to survive the cold! The girls very generously gave Mr Waight a tray of leftover cakes from their bake sale to enjoy. 7EX students have enjoyed dancing to Christmas music in the mornings and getting everyone involved in their dance routines to spread the cheer!
7EY: Imogen C completed her round-off pike in gymnastics, Cara N competed in a gymnastics competition last weekend, the form group raised money from the bake sale for Children in Need, and Emilie V did her upstart on bar in gymnastics.
7MX: Penelope L got her 2nd grade blackbelt. A special mention to all of the students in 7MX for their merits from Mrs McKay for their brilliant singing, and for Kamea L-B and Vipanchika S for their confidence in our ‘Just a Minute’ challenge!
7MY: The form showed us some incredible fundraising efforts, with such an impressive total reached - well done! Lottie S and Lily B are singing at the Epsom Christmas Lights Switch-On, and Emma S and Rose P were the first ‘Just a Minute’ sharers!
7PX: Students in the form group are excited about Christmas and are eager to decorate our form room. This will be a fun, collaborative activity that brings them together.
7PY: Lana R performed some Chopin during Friday Live and, once again, the whole of 7PY were there to cheer her on in between selling out on all their bake sale goodies! Amazing team effort girls!

Year 8 are in high spirits this week after proudly raising over £500 for Children in Need! The winning form will be revealed in our End of Term Celebration Assembly, and it’s safe to say - it was a very close call! All students have now received their Civic Responsibility accolade on ePraise, earning them 10 points to spend in the ePraise shop.
This week has also been one of reflection and personal growth. On Tuesday 11 November 2025, Mrs Byrne delivered a powerful assembly for Anti-Bullying Week, focusing on the impact of our words. We challenged the old saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” by exploring how words can, in fact, leave lasting emotional marks. We encourage you to speak with your daughter about this important message - reminding her to always choose kindness, empathy, and to do what is right, even when it’s not easy.
Our Warrior Wednesday spotlight this week was on Serena Williams. Each form group discussed the challenges she overcame throughout her career and the role resilience played in her success. It was inspiring to hear how 8CY are working on their teamwork, while 8PY are using Serena’s story to push themselves outside their comfort zones - especially by tackling challenge questions in lessons!
It has been a joy to see Year 8 students demonstrating empowered ambition in their learning this week. In Maths, 8X/MaRAT showed great enthusiasm for pictograms with Mr Croudace, confidently sharing model answers and offering each other constructive feedback. In Food Nutrition and Preparation, 8Y/DT2 explored the theory of bread with Mrs Watson, with excellent contributions from Tamzin A 8PY and Kaitlyn D 8CX.
Finally, a huge congratulations to Lauren K 8PY and Kaitlyn D, who successfully defended their title at the 2025 Ultimate Frisbee Youth Women’s Indoor National Championships! Not only did they claim 1st place, but they also earned the prestigious Spirit of the Game trophy. A fantastic achievement - well done! It’s wonderful to see such courageous confidence in action
🏆 WEEKLY WINS 🏆
8CX: Kaitlyn D - for being part of the Epsom U14 Ultimate Frisbee team who won the 2025 Ultimate Frisbee Youth Women’s Indoor National Championships last weekend.
8CY: Inez C was selected by her ballet teacher to perform an additional role in their production of The Wizard of Oz. We are all so proud of you, Inez!
8EX: Lucy G - for selling so many of her crocheted animals at a craft fair!
8EY: The form group produced great work when presenting different biomes (such as the coral reefs and the jungle) for their Geography homework in the form of a leaflet!
8MX: The form group is extremely proud that over half of them have kept up their no demerits streak!
8MY: Freya H demonstrated courageous confidence by singing Christmas songs with her theatre group inside Guildford Cathedral.
8PX: Jess K-Q participated in a competitive swimming gala last weekend. Well done for being so courageous, the form is so proud of you!
8PY: Well done to Aoife V D V for winning a National Squash Competition, and to Lauren K for being part of the Epsom U14 Ultimate Frisbee team who won the 2025 Ultimate Frisbee Youth Women’s Indoor National Championships last weekend.
Congratulations to Lauren K 8PY and Kaitlyn D 8CX!

Year 9 have had a busy form time this week. On Tuesday, we encouraged Year 9 students to begin thinking about the volunteering section of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Volunteering is more than just ticking-off hours — it helps you to make a real difference in your community, grow as a person and develop valuable skills like teamwork, empathy, communication and leadership. Whether you choose to volunteer with a charity, a local community group or to help an individual, there are so many options to explore. More ideas can be found on the DofE website.
On Wednesday, Ms Byrne led an assembly for Anti-Bullying Week exploring the power of words and how they can affect others — we discussed how hurtful comments can leave a lasting mark and why it’s so important to think before we speak. We reflected on how bullying happens both in person and online, and how we can all make a positive difference by choosing kinder language and kind actions.
On Friday, the SPT launched UK Parliament Week, which will take place at Rosebery from Monday 24 to Friday 28 November. This is a great opportunity for students to understand how Parliament works, why democracy matters, and how we as young people can have a voice. Throughout the week, there will be tutor-time activities exploring what Parliament is, how laws are made, and how citizens can get involved — all designed to inspire civic engagement and encourage thoughtful discussion. Each day, there will also be a series of events held at lunchtimes with something for everyone to get involved in.
⭐ STARS OF THE WEEK ⭐
9CX: Amelia B - for her kind and positive nature. Amelia is always very polite and a joy to have in the form group.

This week, I’d like to start off with what has been a real highlight of the past couple of weeks for me. In Year 10, we’ve recently launched our weekly Study Club, where we provide a space for Year 10 students to complete their work (whether it be homework or revision) with access to computers and teacher support if needs be. I’ve been so impressed with not only the number of students who have chosen to access this, but also the hard work that has been shown and the willingness to support one another in their studies. It's almost as if the hot chocolate being offered doesn't matter!
On the theme of studying, in form time this week, Year 10 have been practicing ther dual coding skills in order to help with revision. This is going to be taken further next week and will be combined with targeted flashcards that can be used for quick-fire revision and quizzing. Please do talk to your daughter about the study skills as well as our Study Club to make sure she is benefitting from all we have on offer here at Rosebery.
A couple of things to celebrate from me this week. Firstly, Jaime-Leigh P 10PX competed this weekend with her dance school and performed a contemporary piece for the first time. Even more impressively, they came in first place for this! Furthermore, the dance school won the competition outright as the highest-scoring school! A wonderful achievement and, having seen the footage of the performance, this is a real testament to the rigour and hard work you put in with your team, well done!
Finally, I’d like to celebrate Maisy R 10EX for her recent exploits in gymnastics. Maisy is an incredibly talented athlete and gymnast, who is vying to compete at the highest levels in her age-group. Last week, Maisy travelled to Venice to compete in the TeamGym Mid-European Championships. Her team - Hawth, based in Crawley - won the Junior mixed British Championships back in July, thus qualifying them to represent their country in Italy later in the year.
Her team faced competition from countries all over Europe. This alone is incredible, but Maisy came away with a silver medal for her performance in the competition. To add to this even further, this was Maisy’s first international competition, making her medal achievement all the more impressive. Maisy is also working really hard at the moment as part of the Junior GB Squad in preparation for the European Championships in Finland next year. We all have our fingers crossed that you get the reward you deserve for your hard work and dedication for your talent!
⭐ STARS OF THE WEEK ⭐
10CX: Abi H - for her diligence and commitment to her revision this year, taking the revision strategies from form time and applying them brilliantly!
10CY: Duda A - for seamlessly juggling so many extra-curricular commitments and rehearsals alongside keeping on top of lesson work and homework so brilliantly, and always with a smile on her face!
10EX: Lottie V - for being consistently attentive in Maths and for supporting her peers.
10MX: Merryn C - for always being polite, kind, and contributing positively in form time.
10MY: Hayley L - for her consistent and impressive badminton training!
10PX: Khadija A I - for her lovely contributions to form time and her consistent positive attitude towards learning.
10PY: Betty V - for reaching over 100 points - well done!
Congratulations to Maisy R 10EX

We are very pleased with the mature and determined approach that Year 11 students have shown throughout the autumn mock exam season. The girls' focus, resilience and commitment have been evident daily, and we are extremely proud of their efforts. Thank you once again for your continued support during what has been a highly successful mock examination season.
This year we wanted to give something back to our community. So as a year team we will be collecting brand new toy donations that will be taken to the Casey Ward at Epsom Hospital. We have been blown away by the generosity of our community – thank you! I am now on first name terms with our Amazon delivery drivers!
If you are able to donate a brand-new item from the following list, please send it into the Year 11 office. You can also purchase directly through our Amazon wish list, which will deliver the items to school, thank you!;
https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/1AMDL9ZTNPHI?ref_=wl_share
For more information about the toy donation, please see the Rosebery News entry further down in this issue.
Finally, we look forward to discussing your daughter's progress at Year 11 Parents' Evening, which takes place in person on Thursday 4 December.
Our remarkable student this week is Tila F 11CY who competed at the British Classic Challenge finals last Friday, where she represented the South East region. She had an incredible competition, helping the South East team win the silver medal against 13 regions. Tila also placed an impressive 6th place overall (out of nearly 70 gymnasts from around the country) and she was also 5th on bars, narrowly missing out on the bronze medal!
She was the top overall scorer for the South East as well as top scorer for the team on bars and on floor and second best scorer for the team on beam. What a great way to finish off the year, receiving her second national medal. Well done Tila, we are all very proud of you!
Congratulations to Tila F 11CY

The Sixth Form team would like to begin this entry with a HUGE congratulations to our Sixth Form Netball Team, particularly our victorious Year 13’s, who won the U18’s District Netball tournament this week. We are so proud of you!
A reminder that Year 13 will be on ‘study leave’ whilst they are taking their mock exams which start on Monday, but they are very welcome to come in and use the space to revise. Please remind your daughters about the particular importance of signing in and out using the app, so that we are clear about who is and isn’t on-site should a fire occur. The students should ensure that they bring with them their school cards which are used as ID, that they are fully-equipped with calculators, working pens, pencils, etc. in a clear pencil case, as well as a clear water bottle. We wish all of Year 13 the best of luck in their exams. Miss Nejad will still be around for chats and hugs.
The UK Parliament Week 2025 (which we celebrate every year here at Rosebery) will be taking place next week. This annual event engages people across the UK with the work of Parliament and aims to promote understanding of UK democracy. To support this, the Year 12 Politics students have been actively involved in the organisation and running of the week. Many thanks to Kay C 12ANW for putting together the promo video, Isla D 12SGF, Daisy S 12NJC and Matilda S 12ANW for their work on organising the Model UN, to Sophia E 12NJC for her work on organising the debate, Sophie L 12NJC for arranging for Green Party representatives to come in for a Q&A and for her work on organising the debate, and to Isla D 12NJC and finally Isla F 12EGK for her work on producing the form tutor PowerPoints to be shown to every form group in the school.
Also this week, all Year 12 students attended the Surrey Safe Drive, Stay Alive course during assembly. This impactful session aimed to explore students’ attitudes and intentions around safe driving and passenger behaviour, with the goal of reducing deaths and serious injuries among 16–18 year olds - a group statistically at higher risk.
The session offered powerful real-life stories and practical advice to help students make informed, responsible choices as they begin their driving journeys.
Further information and competitions linked to the programme can be found via the links below:
Finally, just a reminder that next Friday 28 November is an INSET day and the school will be closed. The top ePraise points for this week go to Jess K 12TEA and Marta N 13OJM.

This Christmas, we’re delighted to give back to our local community by supporting the children at Epsom Hospital’s Casey Ward. We will be collecting brand-new toy donations to bring joy and comfort to young patients during the festive season.
A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated – your generosity is truly making a difference and helping us spread festive cheer to those who need it most.
If you would still like to contribute, you can:
Send a brand-new (unused) item into the school reception.
Purchase directly from our Amazon Wish List:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/1AMDL9ZTNPHI?ref_=wl_share
Thank you for your kindness and support – together, we can make this Christmas magical for children in hospital
We would like to help students build independence and resilience - skills that will serve them for life. Recently, we reminded families that forgotten items such should only be dropped off at Reception in exceptional circumstances, however, our Reception team are still seeing many individual items being delivered daily.
We kindly ask parents and carers to support us in reinforcing the message that “Confidence Begins with Responsibility”:
Student responsibility: Encourage students to take ownership of their belongings - to review essentials each evening and pack bags, lay out PE kit, and prepare essential resources and ingredients for the next day before going to bed.
Learning through experience: Allow natural consequences to build resilience over time if they have forgotten a non-essential item
Clear expectations: Forgotten items should only be delivered if essential for the learning due to take place that day (i.e. a PE Kit or Ingredients for cooking that day).
Thank you for supporting this important step towards developing our girls’ confidence and independence.
We are pleased to share that Star-Tastic Gymnastics will be running an After School Gymnastics Club at Rosebery School on Tuesdays from 3.15pm to 4.15pm. This club is open to students in Year 8 and above, and the cost for the term is £66.
Following the gymnastics session, there will also be a Girls Only Parkour Club for ages 10 and above.
If you would like to book a place or have any questions about the sessions, please contact Star-Tastic Gymnastics directly at schools@startasticgymnastics.com

Model UN - Tuesday 25 November
What is Model UN? Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations where students take on the role of delegates representing different countries to debate global issues.
Our Mission: To explore how international issues affect different nations, to listen to a range of perspectives, and to provide a platform where students can confidently express their views while learning to respectfully engage with others.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, gain insight into global politics, and make new friends along the way.

G12 continues to be the place to be on a Friday lunchtime, with 120 girls coming last week to hear Regan P 12EJC and Lana R 7PY perform. Part of the enjoyment is hearing such diverse musical styles, and this week featured a song from 'The Greatest Showman' followed by a Chopin Nocturne!
As ever, if girls want to perform at Friday Live, please contact Mr Holloway or Ms McKay so that we can put the programme together.
We are excited to be returning to St Paul's Church, Howell Hill for this year's Christmas Concert on Thursday 11 December, and it's shaping up to be the biggest one yet! Parents and carers of students involved should have already received an email asking for consent as well as ticket information (please do check your emails in order to give consent!).
With a programme featuring the Rosebery Singers, Young Voices (Year 7 & Year 8 version), Concert Band, Flute Ensemble, String Ensemble, our newly-formed Year 7 choir and soloists, it promises to be an excellent evening of music.
Follow @roseberyperformingarts on Instagram for all the latest updates, including behind the scenes footage of the SIX: TEEN EDITION rehearsals!
Mr Holloway - Head of Music
1. Besides ruling the stage in SIX, what’s your all-time favourite musical?
Rose: "I’m all about the modern vibes - Dear Evan Hansen has my heart. Big emotions, big adventures, and a soundtrack that sticks!"
Barry: "You can’t beat a classic. The Sound of Music - timeless tunes, cozy hills, and everyone knows the words. That’s my kind of musical."
2. Which song from SIX makes you want to grab a mic and belt it out in the shower?
Don't Lose Your Head
Genevieve B 12ELR
3. If you could be any of the SIX queens, who would you be and why?
I would be Katherine Parr because she survived and she shows a lot of confidence on stage!
Nithlam M 12KEJ
Dear Evan Hansen
The Sound of Music
Stray Kids
4. Who’s your ultimate inspiration in the world of performing arts?
My ultimate inspiration in the world of performing arts would be Stray Kids, they sing in many different styles of music and all eight members are very skilled in what they do.
Grecia PM 12KEJ
5. You’re invited to a Tudor banquet — what dish are you bringing and why?
I know that the Tudors liked eating songbirds and small animals stuffed inside bigger ones. I'd make a version with fruit and vegetables - starting with a pumpkin down through smaller things to a grape - or an olive. I might squeeze in a blue tit - for old times sake.
Mr Dray - Art & DT Technician
6. If you were Queen for a day, what’s the first royal decree you’d make?
I'd ban leaf-blowers. Anyone seen blowing leaves from their garden into the road would end up in The Tower - with spells of reflection time under the garderobe. (A grumpy old man has the Queen's ear).
Mr Dray - Art & DT Technician
We rolled out the red carpet and asked the mastermind behind the magic a question of their own: If your life were a stage set, what would it look like - and what surprise element would steal the show?
If my life were a stage set, it would be a well-engineered carousel of rotating platforms and moving parts, constantly shifting, keeping everyone on their toes! One turn reveals the design studio bringing the set for SIX to life, turn again and we are in the workshop buzzing with GCSE Product Designers and Year 7s making bug houses. Another spin whisks the audience into a kitchen with Food students cooking highly skilled dishes against the clock, before swinging to Year 8 entrepreneurs pitching ideas, and then sliding seamlessly into dance rehearsals and choreography for SIX. Just when the audience thinks they have seen it all, the whole set flips - cross-country and DofE trails sweep by in a haze of fresh air, muddy adventure and laughter before the set finally slows to reveal a fleeting glimpse of a sunny beach or a breathtaking mountainous view.
Miss Lovett - Joint Head of Product Design
In Tudor theatre, set design was minimal but clever. Performances often took place in open-air venues like The Globe Theatre (left), where natural light and imagination did most of the work. Instead of elaborate backdrops, actors used spoken cues and props to suggest location - like a throne for a palace or a branch for a forest. The audience had to picture the scene in their minds, making the storytelling even more powerful. So while or Six will dazzles with lights and modern staging, Tudor productions relied on creative simplicity - proof that great theatre doesn’t always need glitter, just great ideas!
Set designers are the creative architects of the stage. They imagine and design the physical world where the story unfolds - castles, classrooms, concert halls, and more! Using sketches, models, and digital tools, they work closely with directors to bring the setting to life. If you love art, design, and storytelling through space, this could be your backstage dream job.
Prop makers are the hands-on creators behind the objects actors use on stage - from royal crowns to fake cakes! They build, paint, and sometimes even engineer props to match the style and time period of the show. It’s a role that blends creativity with craftsmanship. If you enjoy making things and solving practical problems, prop making might be your perfect fit.
We’re inviting local businesses, organisations, and families to sponsor our upcoming school production of SIX: Teen Edition by purchasing space in the official show programme.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support the arts at Rosebery while showcasing your business or sending a message of encouragement to the cast and crew!
Sponsorship Options:
Half-page advert – £30
Full-page advert – £60
All sponsors will be featured in the printed programme distributed during performance week.
If you're interested or would like more details, please email cbrew@roseberyschool.co.uk
Thank you for helping us make this production truly unforgettable!
The Year 8 Football team enjoyed an exceptional week, securing impressive victories in both the English Schools Football Cup and the Surrey Cup.
English Schools Cup – Round 3
In challenging wet and windy conditions, the team produced a strong performance to defeat Oaks Park High School 5–0. The game showcased excellent technical ability from Mia S 8PX, who demonstrated fantastic skill on the ball throughout. The midfield partnership of Chloe V 8PX and Kaitlyn D 8CX provided solidity and control, helping the team maintain possession and create numerous attacking opportunities.
Surrey Cup – Round of 16
The momentum continued mid-week with a convincing 9–1 win against Three Rivers Academy, securing the team’s place in the Surrey Cup quarter-finals. Lauren K 8PY delivered an outstanding performance in goal and was deservedly named Player of the Match.
The scoring opened with a remarkable long-range effort from Rubie D 7MY, finding the net from the halfway line. Chloe V followed with an extraordinary contribution of six goals, while Sophia C 8PY and Molly also added their names to the scoresheet.
This week’s results reflect the team’s hard work, teamwork, and determination. Congratulations to all players involved on two excellent performances.
Miss Croft - Head of PE
The Year 12 and 13 Netball teams travelled to Sutton High School on Wednesday 5 November to play a friendly in preparation for the U18 District Tournament the following week. Due to injuries and illness, we were struggling with fielding two squads, so luckily we had some fantastic Year 11s who stepped up to play! The Year 12s started off very well and took an early lead in the first quarter with a score of 6-3.
After making a couple of positional changes, the Year 12s went straight into fourth gear and really ramped up their attacking play. Carrie L 12TEA was taking some great feeds in the D and converting them very well! Defence were also on fire, with Eilidh M 12TEA and Abi W 12KEJ making it very difficult for their shooter to get under the post. This resulted in a great score at half time - 17-4 to Rosebery! In the second half the girls went back down to third gear and eased off slightly and this was much the same in the fourth quarter. Rosebery steadily increased the score line but not with the same intensity as the second quarter! The final score was 27-8 to Rosebery and it was great to see so many of you come out of your normal positions and spread your talents across the whole court!
The Year 13s had a much quieter and closer game! They were missing several players due to injury and illness, which showed as the ball was unfortunately not flowing smoothly down the court. Amy B 13MRC was making some fantastic interceptions across the court, which helped keep Sutton High's score relativity low, but in turn we were giving the ball away too much. Too many loose overhead passes were being intercepted and we weren't getting into the space to receive an effective pass, meaning we were only slightly ahead going into the second half. The girls upped the effort and started to pull away, with Maisie 13LHM and Kiera K 13KZH converting in the D when it mattered. The final score was 14-11. This was a lot closer than it should have been but this gave the girls the reality check that they needed before the Districts the following week!

On Wednesday 12 November 2025, two Sixth Form teams travelled to St Teresa’s School to compete in the U18 District Netball Tournament. Despite concerns following the previous week’s performance - and with injuries and illness still affecting the Year 13 squad - both teams arrived determined and ready to compete. After waiting for Maisie D 13LHM to complete her exam, the teams set off with great energy.
The Year 13s opened the tournament with a convincing win against St Teresa’s. Sophie V 13KHL settled confidently into WA, feeding the ball into Maisie D 13LHM and Keira K 13KZH with precision, while Jessica L 13AIW and Jacqueline T 13AIW delivered a superb defensive performance, neutralising their opponent’s attacking threat. Their second match against City of London Freemen’s B saw more excellent play, with Amy H 13AJB and Amy B 13MRC making key interceptions and helping secure another win.
The much-anticipated Year 13 vs Year 12 match followed. Although evenly matched at the start, the Year 13s quickly took control with clinical shooting and tight defence. It was a fantastic game to watch, and the Year 12s showed great promise - next year will be their time!
The final two matches were against Freemen’s A and St Peter’s. Freemen’s A proved the toughest challenge, with both teams making errors under pressure. Rosebery settled quicker and led by three goals at half-time. Despite vocal support from the opposition’s staff, our team held their nerve and maintained the lead to the final whistle. The last match against St Peter’s was a confident display, ending in a strong win with a sizeable goal difference.
At the presentation ceremony, the team were initially announced as runners-up, but after a quiet word and a review of the scores, a miscalculation was corrected - and Rosebery were rightfully awarded the gold medals.
To the Year 13 team: winning your final tournament is a fitting end to your journey. You’ve been a delight to coach, teach and umpire, and the PE department is incredibly proud of you all!

Our Year 7 netball teams hosted Sutton High School on Thursday 6 November for a competitive and exciting afternoon of fixtures. For several of our players, it was one of their first ever matches, but they stepped onto the court with confidence and enthusiasm. From the opening centre pass, both teams demonstrated sharp movement, accurate passing and excellent communication.
Defensive units applied consistent pressure, forcing turnovers and creating valuable scoring opportunities. The attacking play was equally impressive, with confident shooting and smooth transitions from defence to attack. The teamwork on display was outstanding, with players supporting one another and maintaining a pace that Sutton found difficult to match.
Both matches ended in well-deserved home victories, reflecting not only the players’ skill but also their determination and discipline. The newer Year 7 players adapted brilliantly, showing great promise and composure in their early competitive experiences. It was a thoroughly positive afternoon and a proud moment for everyone involved - a brilliant reward for the teams’ hard work in training.
Players of the Match were Emilia D 7MY and Ava L 7CY

On Tuesday 11 November 2025, our KS4 Squash team took part in the first round of the National Schools Competition, hosted at Epsom College. Unlike previous years, this round featured just two teams — Rosebery and Epsom College — which meant a shorter format of three games to 11 against equal-ranked opponents. While this limited match time was slightly frustrating for the players, it was still a valuable experience, and it was lovely to see a former Rosebery student now competing for Epsom College on a squash scholarship — though we knew that meant facing a very strong opponent!
After a quick warm-up, the first three matches began, featuring Cali B 10CX, Hazel P 10EX and Caitlyn K 9CX. All three players faced tough competition but rose to the challenge with impressive shot placement and determined court coverage. Cali B delivered some excellent returns, making her opponent work hard for every point, while Hazel P forced her opponent into tight spaces with clever play. Despite not having played recently, Caitlyn K showed great resilience and held her own against a more experienced player.
Although the team didn’t secure any wins, the matches were exciting to watch. The final two games, played by Arlia P 8CX and Aoife V D V, were the closest of the afternoon and showcased the players’ development and determination. Aoife's powerful shots and improved serve tested her opponent throughout, while Arlia showed great composure against a player three years her senior, sticking to her strengths and pushing the match to the wire.
We’re currently awaiting confirmation on progression, as typically the top two teams qualify — but with only two teams in the group, we may instead move forward to the Plate competition. A huge thank you to our brilliant coaches, Maja L 13LHM and Jessie P 13CLR, whose expertise and support continue to make a real difference to the team.

The Year 7 team put in a determined performance in their match yesterday despite a loss against a strong opposition side. From the first whistle, our players showed great teamwork with quick passes through the mid-court and some excellent defensive pressure. Both Nula K 7CY and Rose P 7MY were voted the opposition's Player of the Match, while the Coaches' Player of the Match went to Emilia 7MY.
The Year 8 team also showed fantastic spirit in their match, despite a hard-fought defeat. From the outset, the girls worked well together, moving the ball confidently through the centre third and creating several strong attacking opportunities. While the result didn’t go our way, the players demonstrated real progress, commitment and teamwork. They should be proud of their performance and the way in which they supported each other from start to finish. Molly M 8CX was voted the opposition's Player of the Match and the Coaches' Player went to Nora B 8MX.

The Year 12 Netball team delivered a brilliant performance at this year’s District Netball Tournament, finishing in a well-earned 3rd place after a day of high-energy games and impressive team spirit.
Despite some hard opponents, the girls displayed fantastic effort, with determination, teamwork and great sportsmanship throughout the day. The team should be incredibly proud of their achievement - well done girls!

The Year 7 Netball team put in a spirited performance in their recent fixture against Blenheim High School, despite falling just short of victory in an unfortunate loss.
From the first whistle, both teams showed great determination and energy. Our players worked hard to maintain possession and move the ball swiftly through the court, with some excellent passing and movement on display. By half-time, the score was close, with only a few goals separating the sides. The team showed fantastic teamwork and resilience, continuing to fight for every ball. There were moments of real brilliance in attack, with accurate shooting and clever positioning from our goal shooters.
Unfortunately, in the final quarter Blenheim managed to edge ahead. Despite this, our team never gave up and continued to play with great spirit until the final whistle. Although the match ended in a loss, the team should be proud of their effort, sportsmanship, and teamwork. It was a valuable learning experience, and with continued practice and focus, there’s no doubt they’ll come back stronger in the next game.
Player of the Match goes to Clarissa W 7EX for outstanding determination in defence and consistent effort throughout the match.
