With the Spring term now in full swing, it’s great to see how quickly the girls have returned to good habits and how hard they are working in lessons – we happen to have hosted visitors from several schools across the week, and all have been so complimentary about your daughters, commenting on their courtesy, positive disposition and impressive work ethic.
This is particularly true of the A Level and GCSE Classes of 2026, and I must thank Year 13 parents and carers for your positive engagement at Parents’ Evening yesterday.
Your daughters may also have mentioned that the Quad is somewhat disrupted by the installation of a permanent canopy in this area. The building work is due to last another week or so, so do remind your daughter to be sensible and cautious when walking around this area. We are grateful to GLF Schools for funding this project which will provide much needed outdoor shelter for our students moving forward – the next phase includes the building of a bandstand to host outdoor music and events in the Quad, which is very exciting.
Speaking of exciting, as the school production fast approaches, next week is SIX Week, with the Head Girls and Senior Prefect Team putting on a host of events and activities to raise money for, and to support, the staging of SIX at Leatherhead Theatre. Please do check out the events available to your daughter on ParentPay – which are also listed later in Rosebery News.
Now apologies, but I also must share two gripes! Whilst I am grateful to the vast majority of parents who ensure their daughter is fully prepared for each school day, both in terms of equipment and correct uniform, sadly a handful of students are suffering a hangover from the holiday period and are wearing trainers and/or excessive jewellery and make-up. I’ve asked all staff to look out for and sanction incorrect uniform next week, so please do ensure your daughter is looking smart, and is fully equipped for the day ahead, before she leaves home.
We have also had several complaints from local residents regarding reckless driving, parking and turning on Whitehorse Drive – which I have to say I have also noted whilst on gate duty. This puts our girls and other pedestrians at risk - this is neither necessary nor acceptable. As the weather improves, please do consider whether it is indeed essential to drive your daughter to school, or right up to the school gates – I’m sure the vast majority of students are able to walk from the town centre, or other nearby roads if you drop them off. If you must drive down Whitehorse drive, please drive, park and turn with due care and attention for other road users, residents and pedestrians.
Grumble over!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

This week, SIX's cast treated those of us in the Year 7 office to a sneak peek during rehearsals in the school hall – and it sounded fantastic. We are certain the final performances will be nothing short of spectacular. As you’ll see in Year 7’s Weekly Wins below, SIX has given so many students the chance to discover their confidence and shine, and we cannot wait to see them all in action.
As SIX will take centre stage next week, our assembly to launch The Elephant’s Tea Party was brought forward to today. This assembly explained the purpose of the sessions and gave students an idea of what to expect during form times next week. The content should not be upsetting, but if your child has any concerns, please contact their form tutor. Thank you to everyone who has completed the form to let us know about any bereavements your child may have experienced; this information has been shared with form tutors so they can offer extra care and support.
Also coming up next week are our Girls on Board sessions. These are based on the book When Girls Fall Out, which Mr Harvey introduced at the Information Evening. The sessions aim to help students navigate and resolve friendship issues – something we know can be complex and ever-changing. This programme has been hugely successful over the years, and we hope it will empower our girls to manage their friendships independently.

Year 8 have had a fantastic week and have approached their learning with a real commitment to doing their very best, especially during their assessments. 8PY tackled their History assessment with resilience and courage alongside Mr Murphy, while 8EX supported one another brilliantly when revising for their Science assessment.
A huge well done to Lia R 8MX and Evie R 8CY, who have both achieved over 300 points this year. In addition, over 73 students have maintained a streak of 100% attendance - an outstanding achievement, particularly during the traditionally challenging month of January. I have also seen a significant increase in sign-ups for extra-curricular activities, which is wonderful to see.
Alongside these remarkable achievements, Year 8 have started designing our 'Proud Magazine' during form time. The magazine is a chance for your daughter to reflect on her efforts and successes, and to take pride in being a part of the Year 8 community. Most importantly, the project is about celebrating your daughter - her growth, resilience, and the many things that make her proud. 8CY and 8PX beautifully demonstrated the passion I hope to see throughout this project by designing their front covers with real detail and precision. I am really excited to see their ideas come together and to share the finished result with you during our school events.
With our school production launching soon, we are celebrating all things SIX: TEEN EDITION next week! There is an array of activities, from teacher costume catwalks, dodgeball and quizzes! Tickets to see the production are still available to purchase on ParentPay and would be a great way for your daughter to support her peers!

Year 9 have had a fantastic week of lessons, working hard as they revise and prepare for their mid-year assessments, which begin next week. While many students will spend time revising this weekend, please remind them of the importance of looking after themselves too. Good sleep, fresh air, time away from screens, healthy meals, and moments with friends or family are all vital for focus, memory, and wellbeing.
The Year 9 pastoral team feel very lucky to have an office in the main building – we’ve been treated to the sounds of SIX: TEEN EDITION rehearsals from the hall, and the show is sounding incredible! Next week is officially ‘SIX Week’, so don’t forget to purchase your wristband on ParentPay to access the exciting events building up to the big performances.
We’ve also loved seeing so many students starting their Volunteering, Physical, and Skills activities for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. A reminder that students should log their activities in the programme planner on the DofE app for approval and aim for one hour per week. No need to worry if they haven’t found activities for all sections yet – there’s still time! Please see the attached PDF for ideas, and if they need help or inspiration, they’re welcome to pop into the Year 9 office at break or lunch.

We’ve had another fantastic turnout for revision sessions this week, with around 100 students attending each of the English, Maths and Science sessions, and many more joining morning and lunchtime sessions in other departments. This hard work and determination is reflected in lessons too – well done, Year 11!
Thank you for continuing to remind your child about the revision sessions available. Rooms and details are posted weekly on the Year 11 Google Classroom, so this should be their first point of reference.
And it doesn’t stop there! It has been a joy to see Year 11 students involved in the wonderful SIX: TEEN EDITION rehearsals – whether on stage, behind the scenes or in the band, they are smiling and thriving. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, make sure you do! Performing at Leatherhead Theatre is a fantastic opportunity and one they will remember for years to come.
Next week, there will be a range of activities and events around the school site to give Year 11 a well-deserved break from revision and lessons.
Information will also be sent out shortly about purchasing the Class of 2026 Leavers’ Yearbook and Hoodies, as well as details of our end of year celebration at Denbies Wine Estate on Thursday 18 June 2026.

Formal Assessments
Year 12 formal assessments have now finished, marking an important point in the academic year and providing students with a valuable opportunity to reflect on their progress so far.
Next Steps
Now that assessments are complete, it is essential that students fully engage with the feedback they receive. Feedback is most effective when acted upon. Students should reflect honestly on their performance and, where outcomes have not met expectations, recognise that their behaviour for learning may not have supported success. This is not about blame, but about growth. We encourage students to consider what needs to change and discuss this openly with their class teachers so improvements can be made moving forward.
The next set of formal Year 12 assessments will run from Monday 20 April to Friday 1 May, giving students time to take on board advice, make adjustments, and demonstrate progress.
Reports
Reports will be issued shortly and sent home to parents. These provide a clear overview of attainment, effort, and behaviour for learning, and should be used as a discussion point between students, parents, and teachers.
PDC – Emotional and Physical Wellbeing
Our current PDC topic, Emotional and Physical Wellbeing, finishes this week. Students will learn what to do in an emergency, including how to perform CPR. Further reading links are available to support this important learning:
Work Experience
Our next two assemblies will focus on work experience, which every Year 12 student must complete at the end of this academic year. Students should now ensure they are:
Actively engaging with Unifrog
Reading all school emails and newsletters carefully
Students are responsible for arranging their own placements, and early preparation is key.
Surrey University Trip – Tuesday 3 March 2026
Apologies for the delay in sending information regarding the Surrey University trip in March. Details have now been sent out this week. We would appreciate parents covering the cost of the trip, and we are also looking for parent volunteers to support us on the day. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the university application process. If you can help, please email Mrs Cooley.
It was a pleasure to welcome you on site for your child’s final Parents’ Evening. We hope you came away with a clear understanding of next steps to help your child progress. If you have anything you would like to follow up, please contact your child’s personal tutor or, if more appropriate, myself.
Next Steps and 1:1 Meetings
This round of 1:1 meetings will focus on reflections from reports and encourage students to consider how they will revise for their next set of mocks and, ultimately, their final exams in the summer. These conversations are already happening in school, and it would be helpful to continue them at home too.
PDC – Healthy Relationships
This half term, our PDC focus is on healthy relationships. We have covered a session on FGM, which students engaged with sensitively and maturely. The next lesson will be on honour-based violence. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or questions.
Leavers’ Yearbooks, Hoodies and Celebration
As this is the year students leave us, we want to mark this milestone appropriately and give them something tangible to look back on. We will soon share details about Leavers’ Yearbooks and Hoodies.
Our Leavers’ Celebration will take place at Leatherhead Golf Club on Wednesday 24 June 2026. We hope to see as many students as possible there to raise a glass, have a dance, and celebrate all their hard work. More information will follow soon.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Genevieve B 12ELR and Marta N 13OJM for achieving the most points so far.

The theme for this year is ‘Skills for Life’, reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career.
Amazing Apprenticeships have a section on their website called the ‘Parent and Carer Zone’ which can help you to support your child to make the best decision for them.
The National Apprenticeship Show is once again taking place in February at Sandown Park Racecourse which will cover all levels of apprenticeships, from entry level to higher and degree.
This free event offers visitors a chance to engage, face-to-face, with some of the region’s top apprenticeship employers and providers. There will be an opportunity for parents and carers to attend on Tuesday 10 February 2026 from 3.30pm to 6.00pm. You can register to attend HERE.

The Senior Prefect Team
1. Besides ruling the stage in SIX, what’s your all-time favourite musical?
Regan P 12EJC - My favourite musical aside from SIX is Hamilton, because Lin Manuel Miranda's writing is truly outstanding.
Anna-Sophia E 10CX - My all time favourite musical has to be Hamilton! I’ve personally seen it at the West End and watched it about a million times on Disney Plus as I truly love both the musicality and history behind it!
2. Which song from SIX makes you want to grab a mic and belt it out in the shower?
Phoebe T 7PX - The song 'SIX' - I absolutely love singing this. My favourite part is Catherine of Aragon's verse.
Lilly H 7MX - Probably 'Get Down', because it’s the song for my queen - Anne of Cleves - and I love it so much! It is such a chill song and it is so catchy. Or maybe I would choose 'No Way', because we learnt a dance to it which was really fun.
3. If you could be any of the SIX queens, who would you be and why?
Rose - Oh, easy - Anne Boleyn! She’s bold, bubbly, and just a little chaotic… which feels right. Plus, she gets the best jokes and the best choreography. I’d be living my absolute best Tudor life.
Barry - I’d choose Catherine Parr. Sensible, smart, and she basically wrote the group chat summary of the show. Nice, calm energy, and absolutely no beheading risks. That’s more my pace.
4. Who’s your ultimate inspiration in the world of performing arts?
Rosie I 10PX - My ultimate inspirations in the world of performing arts are Julie Andrews and Scarlett Johansson. I really admire them as people for doing what they want to do and for sticking with it, as well as being role models to every generation.
Lottie S 7MY - My ultimate inspiration in the world of performing arts is Kerry Ellis, because she has performed in so many shows in the West End and Broadway and she has demonstrated that if you have the passion, commitment and dedication to perform, anything is possible. I also met and performed on stage with Kerry in her UK tour of Queen of the West End, and she was lovely and amazing.
5. You’re invited to a Tudor banquet — what dish are you bringing and why?
Barry - I’m bringing a nice, sensible loaf of bread. Nothing suspicious, nothing jellied, and absolutely nothing with a face still attached. The Tudors can keep their pies shaped like mythical creatures - I’ll be over here with something everyone can actually eat without questioning their life choices.
6. If you were Queen for a day, what’s the first royal decree you’d make?
Rose - By royal order, let it be known throughout the kingdom that music shall be played at all times. Morning fanfares to wake you up, lunchtime playlists to keep the vibes alive, and evening showtunes for dramatic flair. Furthermore, any citizen caught resisting the urge to dance must be gently encouraged—preferably with jazz hands. All gloomy days are to be immediately brightened by a spontaneous musical number, complete with harmonies. And finally… every Friday shall henceforth be known as Big Sparkly Sing‑Along Day. Crowns optional, enthusiasm mandatory.
We zoomed in on the design desk and asked the creative director behind the socials a question of his own: If your life were a poster campaign, what would the tagline be - and what colours would dominate the design?
If my life were a poster campaign, it would be bold, colourful and, above all else, on brand. If it doesn’t fit the vibe, it’s in the bin. If it doesn’t use the correct font, I don’t want to see it. I’m an illustrator at heart, so almost everything would be hand-drawn. I’d spend far too much time planning and designing everything, only to change my mind later and completely overhaul the whole idea.
A lot of my role involves juggling design, last-minute requests, and an impressive amount of printing - so when I say poster campaign, I mean a poster campaign. Posters everywhere: in school corridors, classrooms, offices, out on the street, on buses, on trains, on planes (“how did they get there?” I hear you ask? Nobody quite knows for sure). Organised chaos held together by a highly strict colour palette (Rosebery Red and Rosebery Blue) and all printed on 175gsm off-white paper.
Mr Brew - Marketing & Production Officer
Before screens and streaming, Tudors had their own ways to unwind. They enjoyed music, dancing, feasts, and even jousting tournaments - imagine knights charging at each other for sport.
Court jesters entertained with jokes and tricks, and theatre was growing in popularity, setting the stage for Shakespeare just a few decades later. Fun twist: Henry VIII was known to dress up and join in the fun - sometimes in disguise!
Actors are the storytellers we see on stage, bringing characters to life through voice, movement, and emotion. Whether playing a queen, a rebel, or a comic sidekick, actors use their skills to connect with the audience and make the story feel real.
It takes confidence, creativity, and lots of rehearsal! If you love performing, stepping into different roles, and working as part of a cast, acting might be your perfect spotlight moment.
Raffle Donations Needed – Help Make SIX Week Sparkle!
As we gear up for our dazzling school production of SIX: Teen Edition, we’re planning a raffle to run during performance week - and we’d love your support! The Year 7 A and B Netball teams took part in a tournament held in extremely cold conditions, showing great determination and teamwork throughout the day. Despite the challenging weather, both teams played with enthusiasm and resilience. The Year 7 A Team performed exceptionally well, working hard in every match and showing strong skill and communication on court. Their efforts were rewarded with a well-deserved third place finish overall, which is an excellent achievement.
The Year 7 B team also produced a series of impressive performances. They demonstrated great improvement, teamwork and sportsmanship in every game. After a competitive set of matches, the B team finished fifth overall, which is a fantastic result in a strong tournament.
Both teams should be extremely proud of what they have achieved. Their positive attitude, commitment and perseverance in such cold conditions reflected brilliantly on the school. Well done to all the players involved!
Teacher's Player was awarded to Emilia D 7MY and Nula K 7CY.
