February has arrived, and quick as a flash it’s only a week till half term, and thoughts are turning to pancake-flipping and Valentines Day!
I’m hugely grateful to Year 11 parents and carers who attended our “Revision on the Rocks” evening, hosted by Mr Waight and the Heads of English, Maths and Science, to help bring to life exactly what and how our students should be revising as GCSEs draw ever closer. Indeed, it’s been a busy week for the Class of 2026 who have been out completing human geography fieldwork, rehearsing and showcasing their Drama scripted performances, and benefitting from an RS immersion day.
Elsewhere we continue to enjoy a huge range of sporting successes with Hockey, Athletics, Netball and Football all featuring later in Rosebery News.
Our Year 9 Debate Team is taking part in the GLF Schools Debating Competition today at The Oval Cricket Ground, and we are delighted to be hosting the GLF Netball competition here at Rosebery in March. These competitions all form part of the GLF Boundless Festival, which culminates in July, organised by the GLF Schools Foundation – I’ve included links to both below, in case you like to find out a little more about the excellent work they do to help all GLF pupils overcome socio-economic disadvantage.
Next week sees much of the fieldwork and NEA preparation continue for our GCSE and A Level students, whilst those in the Lower School are very much looking forward to House Football, before we welcome Year 7 families to their first Rosebery Parents’ Evening on Thursday.
Have a great weekend everyone.

The theme of this week has been 'appreciating others’, and Miss Godsave and I have had some lovely opportunities to witness this in Year 7. Firstly, we are both delighted and proud that every single member of Year 7 has reached the threshold to receive her tutor merit certificate, with over 150 students achieving 200+ merits and their Head of Year merit award. Calling them all up in Celebration Assembly would be a feat of endurance, so Miss Godsave and I have been bursting into form time this week to award the certificates in person and celebrate how brilliant our students are.
As we are now in February, Year 7 have been spreading kindness with their ‘Palentines’ nominations – messages to their form tutor about someone who they would like to celebrate. The tutors have shared that the students have been so kind to each other in this exercise, and that there are repeated mentions of how students feel their peers are caring and inclusive. We could wish for no better accolade for our Year 7 students.
Coming up next week, we have House Football, Celebration Assembly and Parents’ Evening! We are looking forward to welcoming you on-site to share how your child has been doing in their subjects. All the instructions were sent via email, with a link to book appointments via School Cloud. Please note that Miss Godsave and I will be attending in our roles as teachers of Geography and French, respectively, and so that will be our focus for the appointments. If you have pastoral concerns that you would like to discuss, please use the ‘Contact Us’ form on the school website to get in touch.

What an amazing show it was, as testament to what can be achieved with hard work, perseverance and collaboration.

By now, you’ve probably seen so many amazing things about SIX: TEEN EDITION, or perhaps have been able to see this for yourself. In my previous entry, I was gearing up to go and see the show, so I’d be remiss not to start this week by acknowledging what an incredible performance it was all round. To say I was blown away by the quality of this would be an understatement. Of course, my congratulations go to the whole cast and crew, but I was particularly impressed by the performances of Year 10. A special shout out to our three Year 10 Queens, Duda A 10CY, Chloé L 10EY and Natalia O 10MY for their starring performances, as I’m you’ve heard a lot about this past week - you were fantastic. I was in genuine awe seeing the results of your dedication to your talents and passions.
As we approach half term, I have been impressed with the way in which Year 10 have been approaching their assessments this week. With Science and Maths being the focus for this week, I have been pleased to see Year 10 making the most of their study sessions in form, as well as the focus I have seen in revision lessons occurring during the week.
Next week, I look forward to our celebration assembly, where we will once again get a chance to award Year 10 for their efforts this half term. I am looking forward to our chance to gather together before a well-deserved half term break. Finally, on Friday next week, Year 10 form groups will each be taking part in our work experience preparation workshop, wherein each form will spend an hour learning how to make the most of their work experience placements. From presenting themselves, to making the most of their opportunities, I am eager to be a part of this with Year 10. More details will be announced during form time next week.

Another very busy week for Year 11 students, as our Geographers have been collecting data for their exam, Drama students have been rehearsing ahead of their scripted exam next week, and many students have been involved in NEA work in Art, Textiles and FPN.
On top of this, we have continued our revision exploration during form time. Every student should now have completed a revision schedule, most likely accompanied by a beautifully colour‑coded mock exam timetable!
It was lovely to see so many parents and carers at our Revision on the Rocks event last night. I hope you found the techniques useful and that they will support conversations at home around different revision strategies. As mentioned, what works for one person may not work for another, so it is often a case of trial and error to find what suits your child best. The slides and information will be available on our website next week for your reference.
Today, information has been sent out via email including:
A copy of the Year 11 Pre‑Public Exam (PPE) timetable, and
A compilation of revision guidance for each subject
Finally, we are so grateful for your continued support and wish you all a lovely weekend.

It’s hard to believe we are only one week away from the half‑term break. Thank you to everyone who has worked so consistently this term - your focus is really starting to show. Many of you have now received subject reports, and this is the perfect moment to act on the feedback you’ve been given. Alongside this, you should now have your revision booklets, so it’s time to begin drafting your revision timetable for the upcoming matriculation exams in April.
We are pleased to welcome Atkins, a major local employer, who will be speaking about work experience opportunities. This is a valuable chance to understand what employers look for and how you can begin building your professional profile.
A huge thank you to the 122 students and parents who have already paid for the Surrey University visit. If you have not yet completed payment, please do so as soon as possible. If there are any issues, please email Mrs Boundy or contact trips@roseberyschool.co.uk
We are currently exploring the possibility of a second Sixth Form theatre trip for 48 Year 12 students in June to see Hadestown in the West End. Please take a look at the promotional material HERE to see if you would be interested, and keep an eye out for further details:
Be realistic. Plan achievable sessions rather than cramming. Short, focused blocks are far more effective than long, unfocused ones.
Prioritise your subjects. Allocate more time to areas you find challenging or where your report suggests improvement is needed.
Mix topics strategically. Rotate subjects to keep your brain fresh and avoid burnout.
Build in breaks. Rest is part of revision, not a reward for it.
Use active revision methods. Practice questions, flashcards, teaching someone else, and timed tasks.
Review and adjust weekly. A timetable should evolve as you learn what works for you.
Seek guidance. Your subject teachers and personal tutors are the best people to help you shape a timetable that is both ambitious and realistic.
Please continue to uphold the standards expected in the Sixth Form area:
Put all rubbish in the bins provided
Leave workspaces tidy for others
Return any borrowed Chromebooks
Attend assembly and PDC
Sign in for Directed Study
Finally, congratulations to our top Points achievers, Jess K 12TEA and Marta N 13OJM.

On behalf of all the nurses at Casey Children's Ward at Epsom Hospital, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your incredibly generous donations over the Christmas period. Your kindness truly made a difference to our ward and, most importantly, to the children and families in our care.
Thanks to your support, Christmas was a brighter, happier time for our young patients. The smiles, excitement, and comfort your gifts brought were wonderful to see and meant more than words can express. Many of the donated items have also made a lasting impact on our playroom, helping to create a welcoming, engaging, and comforting space for children during their hospital stay. Play is such an important part of a child’s wellbeing, and your generosity has helped us support this in a very meaningful way.
We are also extremely grateful to have gifts left over, which will allow us to continue supporting and uplifting our patients throughout the year. Knowing we can offer comfort, distraction, and joy beyond the festive season is truly invaluable. Thank you once again for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Your support has made a real and lasting difference to our ward, and we are incredibly appreciative.
