I must start by praising our Year 11 students for completing their mock exams this week. Whilst not very glamorous, they are a hugely important milestone on the way to successfully sitting GCSE exams in the summer. The feedback from Ms Newman, Mr Styles and the whole exams team, with regard to how the girls have approached the mocks and managed themselves across the two weeks, has been exceptionally positive – so ‘well done’ ladies!
I am also grateful for Year 13 Parents and Carers for attending Parents’ Evening last night, as our oldest students gear up for their A Level examinations.
I must also thank all the girls who put themselves forward for consideration to be part of our next Senior Prefect Team and for the positions of Head Girls. Mrs Mariner and Miss Canessa have led a wonderfully thoughtful and at times gruelling process, but it has been a delight to witness that so many of our girls want to take on leadership positions, and want to help to make a difference and affect change, both at Rosebery and in the wider community. We look forward to unveiling the new appointments in assemblies across the week and then in Rosebery News.
However, the incumbent Senior Prefect Team are still going strong and I am delighted that, following on from RAG Week, they are launching a Donation Drive for Epsom Pantry, as we all begin to gear up for Christmas. This initiative has been framed as a House Competition which will run from Monday 2 December to Friday 13 December to help further stock Epsom Pantry, both during the festive period and into January. Please check out the latest SPT video below, which spotlights their recent visit to Epsom Pantry.
Please be advised that our Term Dates for 2025-26 have now been updated and will be uploaded onto the School Website. For convenience, they are also accessible via the THIS LINK.
Finally, as you will be aware, our Parent Voice Survey remains open until Monday, so if you are able to complete it, we’d be hugely grateful. Please click the link HERE to access the survey.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

This week, Year 7 received an assembly on the topic of ‘thinking of others’, where they reflected on all the ways that Year 7 have shown kindness both inside and outside of school this academic year. To celebrate this, we have launched the ‘100 Acts of Kindness in December’ challenge, which commences next week. Students are encouraged to ask form tutors, teachers, Year 12 champions and their families to colour in the heart on their cards each time they carry out an act of kindness. Completed challenge cards should be handed into their form tutors for the chance to win the ‘Have Courage, Be Kind’ accolade on ePraise and spend merits in the Rosebery ePraise Shop.
We are really excited to be taking Year 7 to the Rose Theatre next week (Y-side on Tuesday 3 December and X-side on Wednesday 4 December). Students will have an early lunchtime on the day of their trip at 12.10pm, where the canteen will be open to purchase food before we depart at 12.45pm. Students must wear full school uniform and any students not going on the theatre trip on their allocated day will have alternative activities in school for periods 4 and 5. Information will be shared in next weeks’ form tutor PowerPoint to students.
On Wednesday 11 December, Year 7 are invited to attend their Christmas Party. The event will take place in the Main Hall from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, where the Year 12 champions will be holding a Christmas fair with a range of activities, crafts and games to lift our festive spirits. Tickets are limited and can be purchased through ParentPay from Monday 2 December.
This week we are celebrating Damaris M 7CX, Amelia D 7CY, Stacy T 7EX, Rohini H 7EY, Molly E 7MX, Rin B 7MY, Evelyn D 7PX and Yan Tung L 7PY in this week’s Thank You Thursday. Thank you to these students for always sharing your efforts and enthusiasm in every lesson. We hope you enjoyed your hot chocolate with the Pastoral Team this week.
Finally, Year 7 have been incredibly busy taking part in many sporting fixtures this week, including Netball and Gymnastics. Well done to all who participated. Our next house event is House Football on Monday 9 December. This week in form time, Year 7 were invited to sign up to play.
We hope that you enjoy a three-day weekend - the last of November!

This week was full of kindness in the community, which started from the beginning of the week. Things kicked off with our assembly this week, which was on the theme of 'thinking of others'. In this assembly I spoke to the year 8 students about the importance of being an ambassador for kindness. We introduced the concept of the 'ripple effect', which emphasises how small acts of kindness can have a profound impact on our community. These messages were consolidated with our tutor time session on Wednesday, where students received their 'Kindness Challenge' card. Each student received a card with various tasks designed to encourage acts of kindness both within and outside of school. The tasks range from simple gestures like complimenting a peer, to more involved activities, such as volunteering in the community. It has been heartwarming to see so many pupils engaging with the challenge, sharing their experiences and inspiring one another to spread kindness.
In addition to fostering kindness, we are also impressed by the creative endeavours our Year 8 students were undertaking in their classes. In Art, students have been working on self-portraits that not only showcase their artistic talents but also allow them to reflect on their identities. Meanwhile, in History, students were diving into extended paragraphs about the abolition of the slave trade. Year 8 have also continued to get involved in clubs and activities around school. A massive 'thank you' this week goes out to 8CY for participating in the whole litter picking project. Well done for working as a team!
Looking ahead, our students are buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming house football tournament on Tuesday! We wish all of our players the best of luck!
We hope you have a very restful weekend.

As November comes to a close, we have reflected on how kind and polite Year 10 have been. My weekly challenge is to count how many students say ‘good morning’ back to me on our assembly mornings. This week was the record highest – thank you Year 10!
This was saw the launch of Silver DofE, which anyone in Year 10 is invited to participate in, irrespective of completing Bronze DofE or not. Information has been sent home and it is now live on ParentPay to secure a place. A reminder that information on how to complete the Bronze DofE process is on google classroom for students that took part in the expeditions last year.
On the whole, Year 10 are working hard and for so many, they have felt empowered to have conversations with their teachers around their aspirational target grades. The deadline to hand in the completed form is Monday 2 December. Information is on Google classroom and I have reminded students this week that we embark onto a journey. The target grades should be aspirational, so students have something to work towards. Naturally they will be surrounded by others who have different target, different aspirations, goals etc. Most importantly students are surrounded by others who have different achievements under their belt, talents and potential to themselves. The quote below sums the message perfectly. Have a lovely weekend.

The mocks are now done! As we wrote to students this week, we could not be prouder of them and their attitude during this two-week period. We know that preparations have been difficult at times, but we know how important it is for students to prove to themselves that they can do difficult things. By prioritising attendance, trying as many questions as they can, and by juggling the requirements for so many subjects, students have developed their resilience and self-confidence and, while the results are still to come, we can agree that, by doing this, all students have achieved something remarkable this week. We hope that they can enjoy a well-deserved break this weekend.
When the results are in, you will have the opportunity to discuss them with your child’s subject teachers at our Parents’ Evening on Thursday 12 December. Please ensure you have checked your emails for details of how to book appointments, so as not to miss out on valuable conversations about how we can work together to build on your child’s achievements.
As we look ahead to next week, please be aware that the PE mock practical dates have changed to Monday 2 December and Tuesday 3 December. All affected students have been emailed with details.
Year 11’s achievements this week have made us so proud, and we would like to share that all of them have been remarkable! However, we would also like to give a special mention to Jocelyn B 11MY, who this week was awarded Distinction in her Grade 7 Flute exam. We would also like to mention her friends, Elena D 11PY, Rosie R 11PY, Amy H 11PY and Darcie W 11PY, for requesting that she be celebrated – you are all our Rosebery Remarkable students this week!

“It teaches Greek Mythology in a fun way and you get really attached to the characters. There are lots of cliffhangers and plot twists. If you have a neurological disorder, it helps you feel better because Rick calls things like ADHD battle reflexes! It’s such a good series. Very diverse, too.”
Zoe P 7PX
“I loved it because it’s all about these sisters who each go through struggles in their lives so it really helps to relate to others”
Jess K-Q 7PX
“It’s full of random, interesting facts and there’s one for every year plus mini ones for different themes”
Evelyn D 7PX
“I loved it since Pip actually found out who murdered Andie Bell and she is doing it for a project. She faced challenges along the way but she didn’t let that stop her”
Zahrah S 7PX
“It’s very suspenseful and once you start reading it (if you are like me), you won’t want to put it down. I normally don’t like reading but I love this book”
Lili R 7PX
“I loved it because of all the adventures and the choice of vocabulary they have. The books have really drawn me in”
Trishika J 7PX
“I love books about war and I definitely recommend this one. Even though it made me cry, I still loved it”

We are very fortunate at Rosebery to have a fabulous team of peripatetic music teachers. Please click HERE to find out more information if you are interested in getting lessons for your daughter. Each week I am featuring one of the team. This week I am featuring Miss Walshaw, one of our string teachers at Rosebery:
Gill enjoys a busy career as music educator, cellist, arranger, transcriber and composer. With over 20 years as a music educator including a Head of Strings post and Senior Teacher of 'In Harmony Lambeth' Gill loves to share her passion for music and tailors the learning journey to her student's interests and needs. She has 100% pass rate entering instrumental exams (usually with merit and distinction mark). However, the most important aspect is to enjoy playing well with ease and comfort and set forth on the amazing journey that is music! Gill loves to work with students to find their personal creative voice and play with freedom and expression.
Gill founded and leads cello ensemble 'Vivacelli', recently transcribed the commercial album Thrive for RIOPY and is a published composer. She currently teaches at Nonsuch School, Sutton and Halliford School, Shepperton. Although classically trained she has always enjoyed dipping into different styles such as folk and jazz music and exploring improvisation.

In an exciting Year 10 netball match, our team secured a solid 15-6 victory. Despite facing a challenging situation in the final quarter with one player down, the girls held their ground and showed great resilience. The team worked seamlessly, maintaining strong defense and effective shooting to keep the lead. Yasmin K, Aaliyah Zaina -R, Maddy C and Luisa H contributed with excellent interceptions and strategic passes, ensuring they finished the game with a well-deserved win. Overall, it was a great display of teamwork and determination, even under pressure. Massive congratulations to the Y9 players who played up; Maisy R, Evelyn W and India R. Esher voted Hannah T as their player of the match and Miss Elms voted for Aaliyah - Zaina R. Well done everyone!
The Wellbeing Café will be held for all students on Friday 6 December in the Main Hall at 1.10pm to 2.00pm. Students will have the opportunity to engage in craft and chat to Wellbeing Ambassadors, whilst having a hot chocolate and a cookie.
