As we gallop into the final half term of the academic year, our Year 12 students have certainly bolted out of the starting stalls with a superb 'Student Futures' week. From preparing for Higher Education and UCAS, to hands-on life skills like cooking, DIY, finance, car and bike maintenance - and even building professional presence on LinkedIn and Platform7teen - it’s been a winning combination. Hats off to Mr Phillips and the Sixth Form team for once again delivering a top-class post-16 experience that truly sets the pace.
Meanwhile, our Year 11 and Year 13 students are deep into their race - the Public Exams - pacing themselves with strength and stamina. We're over halfway around the track, so let’s continue cheering them on through the final furlongs. Keep riding strong, girls - you’re nearly at the finish line!
Our Key Stage 3 students are also stepping up to their assessment season. While we encourage them to put in a solid performance, please remind your daughters that these tests are more like a training gallop than a championship race. It’s completely normal to mis-step - what matters is learning from it and refining their stride. Some nerves are natural, but every student should approach this stretch with confidence, curiosity, and courage. After all, you can’t ‘fail’ a KS3 assessment - it’s all about progression, not perfection.
With DofE season in full stride, our Year 10 Silver candidates are currently out on their practice expedition in the scenic Chiltern Hills, preparing for their Peak District qualifier. Over in Year 12, our Gold Award students are gearing up for their Majorca adventure - Miss Godwin will unveil the exciting 2026 destination at the Sixth Form Induction Day on Monday 23 June; watch this space!
Next week also sees the final GLF Collaborates session of the year. Please note that students will be dismissed at 1.00pm on Wednesday 11 June, and there will be no lunch service available that day.
As the Epsom Derby Festival kicks off, we wish you a weekend filled with sunshine, celebration, and perhaps a little horse-racing magic. Whether you're trackside, or simply taking in the atmosphere from home, enjoy!

This week during Wednesday’s form time, our fantastic Year 12 coaches led sessions across Year 8, sharing valuable revision strategies to support students with their upcoming assessments.
In 8CY, Maia Y 12H gave an excellent talk on how to manage exam stress, with her key message being: "Prepared = Less Panic". Here are a few of her top tips:
1. Plan Smart
Make a revision timetable – no last-minute cramming!
Break topics into manageable chunks and tick them off.
Know your exam format – question types, length, etc.
2. Breathe + Chill (Seriously!)
Try box breathing: Inhale for 4s → Hold 4s → Exhale 4s → Hold 4s. Repeat.
Use meditation apps like Headspace or Calm.
Even 5 minutes of lying down with your eyes closed can reset your brain.
3. Take Proper Breaks
Work for 25–50 minutes, then take a 5–10 minute break.
Move your body, drink water, eat a snack, or get fresh air.
Avoid endless scrolling or stressing online with friends.
Meanwhile, in 8EX, Evie T 12H introduced the Cornell Notes method to help Year 8 revise for English. She showed how to apply the format when reviewing:
Key themes in the book
Important chapters
Major and minor characters
A huge thank you to all our Year 12 coaches for their ongoing support every Wednesday – your advice and encouragement make a real difference!
Coming Up: Walton Firs Trip
We're also looking forward to our upcoming Walton Firs adventure with X-side on 16 June and Y-side on 17 June. Students will have a virtual assembly next week to go over key trip information, including what to bring. Coach and group lists will be shared by tutors towards the end of next week.

It has been a joy seeing Year 10 back and working so hard after our half term break. It hasn’t been a quiet week, with Food Preparation and Nutrition NEA practical's, PE practical mock exams, a visit from our school nurse, delivering the RSE talk on Wednesday and our Silver DofE students heading off at the end of the week to complete their expedition.
During my learning walks this week it has, again, been apparent that Year 10 are focussed and are navigating their way through revision tasks, creating colourful resources and sharing ideas with peers. With that, there has also been a well-needed hour of wellbeing during their PE lessons, in which I have seen Year 10 shine in cricket, rounders and a bit of indoor benchball when the weather hasn’t been on our side.
Work experience is just a few weeks away now and I am so grateful for your support at home, ensuring that placements are logged on Unifrog. I am aware that many are struggling to find placements, so there are virtual work experience placements available. The full menu for Speakers for Schools outlines all placements taking place this June and July. Pages 2 and 3 have dates for 30 June to 4 July 2025, but deadlines are loomimg. These include placements with companies such as; UK Atomic Energy Authority, The Big Pitch, Leonardo Hotels, Ministry of Justice UK, CACI Ltd and Into Film to name just a few. We are also fortunate to have access to Unifrog’s virtual work experience webinars which take place at the same time - details for which can be found HERE. There are links on there for students to apply to their virtual placements. Information has also been shared with Year 10 and put onto our Google Classroom page.
Finally, a reminder that Year 10 require a clear pencil case for their mock examinations which is fully equipped, including a black ballpoint pen to write with, Maths equipment and a scientific calculator. Students will be provided with an ID label to stick on their pencil cases which must be clearly visible for each exam that they sit.

I hope Year 11 were able to balance revision with some rest and relaxation over their (slightly extended) half term break. It certainly felt very quiet in the two days where they had no exams! We were therefore pleased to welcome them back into the building for Maths on Wednesday, followed by History, French Writing, English and Geography. With this, some subjects are completely finished, and Year 11 are less than 2 weeks away from their Leavers’ Day and prom, which I hope spurs them on to do their best push to the finish line.
A huge thank you for all you have done to get students to this point: they are so calm and prepared for each exam and they cannot do this without the support they get from home.

Once again, our amazing sponsor, The Personal Agent, has generously offered to make a donation of £20 per board displayed outside the homes of Rosebery families this summer!
The boards will be printed with the message 'The Personal Agent is proud to support Rosebery School' and will be put up in the week beginning 15 June and will be removed by 12 July. We will need 40 families to sign up as soon as possible to help us raise £800.
Simply click HERE and complete our Google Form to register your support.
You are invited to attend the annual Rosebery Art and DT Exhibition on Wednesday 18 June between 5.00pm to 7.00pm. This is always a wonderful celebration of student achievement and a unique chance to see all the GCSE and A level work displayed together.
It is of particular interest to any families who have children who are thinking of continuing with Art to DT to examination level. Everyone is welcome and we would love to see you.
Many parents/carers ask us about ways in which they can help their children develop their art practices. Please have a look at the links below for some ideas for students in Years 10 to 12 who are serious about taking art further. The courses available in these two institutions cover those who are wanting to become more exploratory and experimental in their work, as well as the development of more traditional skills.

Our Year 7 and 8 cricket teams delivered a fantastic performance, winning both of their matches in style.
Match 1: Rosebery vs. Therfield School
In the first game, the team bowled with discipline and kept the opposition to a modest total. Some sharp fielding and accurate bowling saw early breakthroughs. Chasing the target, our top order showed great composure, with both Caitlyn and Polly anchoring the innings to guide the team to a comfortable win.
Match 2: Rosebery vs. Hinchley Wood School
The second match showcased the team’s depth, with several players contributing. Batting first, the team posted a competitive score thanks to some confident stroke play. The bowlers then kept up the pressure with a mix of pace and spin, taking regular wickets to seal a second victory.
It was a brilliant display of teamwork, sportsmanship, and growing skill. Well done to all involved! Miss Elms' Batter of the Match goes to Caitlyn K 8CX, and Bowler of the Match goes to Florence D 7PX.
Miss Dawson's Batter of the Match goes to Zainab S 8CX, and Bowler of the Match goes to Bonnie S-F 8CX.
