I’m delighted that the sunshine and warm weather has returned as we speed through the Summer Term. Much thought now turns to end of year preparations, with our year teams busy preparing the girls to finish the year on a high whilst ensuring they are ready for what the following year will bring.
To that end, I wish our Year 10 students well with their Mock Exams, which begin on Monday, and can’t quite believe that by Thursday of next week, we’ll be hosting our Year 11 Celebration Assembly and Prom to mark the end of their GCSEs – although it’s not yet farewell to them, as we have a record number of students due to return to Rosebery Sixth Form, with our results and reputation for Post-16 excellence going from strength to strength.
End of year assessments continued this week for our students in Years 7, 8 and 9, and I must mention just how impressed our staff have been with the girls’ revision, preparation and determination to do their best. Whilst it’s wonderful to hear such feedback, as I mentioned last week, please do remind your daughters that they will make mistakes and that is to be expected. These are not life defining assessments – we are looking for progress, not perfection!
Having already won the GLF KS4 Netball Tournament earlier in the year, had two students win their categories in the GLF Art Competition, I am reliably informed that we are on course to win the GLF Spelling Bee that took place this afternoon. Next up is the GLF Debating Competition, which takes place next Thursday.
As a reminder, these competitions are held across GLF Schools, and will culminate in students attending the GLF Boundless Celebration at Twickenham Stadium on Friday 11 July. All of this is organised by the GLF Foundation, who continue to raise funds to provide support and opportunities for all young people across all 43 GLF Schools

On Saturday, our Year 12 Gold DofE students fly of to Majorca to complete their qualifying expedition, so we wish them well – although it is due to be very hot.
Next week is a busy one, with the Year 8 Team Building Trips to Walton Firs taking place on Monday (X side) and Tuesday (Y side) before the Rosechella Arts Festival bursts into life on Wednesday. Running through till the following Wednesday, it kicks off with the Art & DT Exhibition on Wednesday Evening, which is well worth a visit, and there are range of workshops and activities for the girls to sign up to across the week – so do look out for the associated emails.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

It is officially Year 7’s final term of being in Year 7, and their last two weeks have been exceptional. Students are spending this term getting Year 8-ready, and last week Year 7 received an assembly reminding them of uniform and conduct expectations around the school site and in lessons as, soon, new Year 7 starters will be looking up to them as Year 8 in admiration. We aim for our students to be the very best possible role models of courage and kindness. Thank you for ensuring your daughter arrives to school in the correct uniform (including her blazer and equipment for lessons that day). In form time, Year 7 have been reflecting on how they will stay organised in Year 8, as well as how they will look after themselves and the habits they intend on taking into the new school year, as well as setting goals for themselves in Year 8 (both inside and outside of the classroom).
We are so proud of how Year 7 have demonstrated such determination, bravery and independence throughout their Summer Assessments this half term so far. They have turned up to assessments prepared, equipped, calm and intent on showcasing all their learning this year. Well done Year 7, we are so proud of you. Remember to ask your teacher questions in your assessment feedback lessons to keep growing and improving. Keep up the hard work.
This week, all students received House Assemblies from their House Captains, sharing highlights of their house achievements this year. Congratulations to Curie House, who are currently in the lead with 64,463 points! But it’s not over yet for Elizabeth, Pankhurst or Malala, because Sport’s Day is fast approaching on Tuesday 8 July - an opportunity for each student to win even more house points!
Year 7 ended this week with an exciting STEM-ettes event, as they received inspiring talks from women working in Science. This afternoon, they heard from a Senior Compliance Testing Engineer for The Office for Products Safety and Standards, a Structural Engineer and Chemical Engineer. It was incredible for Year 7 to be reminded about the vast range of STEM jobs out there and that our girls can do any of them.

This week, I had the pleasure of visiting 8EX during their Art lesson with Mr Hewett. It was a fantastic opportunity to see their creative energy and focus. Students were exploring a wide range of artistic techniques, from sketching and shading to experimenting with mixed media. Many proudly shared their work with me, demonstrating not only their skill but also the effort they’ve been putting into refining their ideas. The atmosphere was calm, purposeful, and full of curiosity – well done! Please see below for a small selection of their fantastic work.

Year 9 have started their assessment window just as I had expected, with students working diligently and carefully on their studies in the lead up to these. It has been lovely to go into preparation lessons in which Year 9 are applying themselves thoughtfully and giving their best efforts across the board.
One of my favourite parts of the week was popping in on Miss Lovett’s Food Preparation and Nutrition class, who were undertaking the teacake challenge. Year 9 had to use the same ingredients to create the most unique and aesthetically presented plate. I loved seeing the precision, creativity and adaptation in this lesson - well done Year 9!
Over the week there have also been some wonderful things to celebrate. Sophie-Anne B 9EX has recently competed at the National Finals at UKA Premier Medallist of the Year. Despite moving up a category this year, Sophie-Anne managed to make both finals, placing 3rd in Latin American and 7th in Ballroom. This is a fabulous achievement, and those of you who read my entries will know how dedicated and hard-working Sophie-Anne has been over the past two years.
From one performer to another, Milly P 9PY has had fantastic success with her acting exploits. Milly has recently auditioned to be part of a programme run by the Guildford School of Acting. They run an intensive programme with limited places and is designed for young students of exceptional talent who have some experience, as well as a high level of commitment and passion for the performing arts. I am delighted to say that Milly has recently learnt of her acceptance on to this programme and, having seen Milly’s passion and proficiency for acting, I can thoroughly say that it is incredibly well-deserved. I am eager to hear more about the training once it commences.
Have a great weekend!

9PY: Amber S - for being polite and super hard-working this week.

It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks for Year 10, with mock examinations starting on Monday.
Students have been thoroughly prepared during lessons, and from the classes I’ve visited this week, it’s clear how fortunate Year 10 are. The quality of resources provided and the dedication shown by their teachers are truly outstanding. Information outlining the topics students should be revising was sent home a few weeks ago and can serve as a helpful guide for revision at home. I've also been highlighting the importance of self-care and taking regular breaks to help ensure that revision remains productive and balanced.
Work experience is just a couple of weeks away, and I am so grateful for your support at home, ensuring that placements are logged into Unifrog. I am aware that many are struggling to find placements and so there are virtual work experience placements available. The full menu for Speakers for Schools outlines all placements taking place this June and July. Pages 2 and 3 have dates for 30 June to 4 July 2025, but deadlines are loomimg. These include placements with companies such as; UK Atomic Energy Authority, The Big Pitch, Leonardo Hotels, Ministry of Justice UK, CACI Ltd and Into Film to name just a few. We are also fortunate to have access to Unifrog’s virtual work experience webinars which take place at the same time - details for which can be found HERE. There are links on there for students to apply to their virtual placements. Information has also been shared with Year 10 and put onto our Google Classroom page.
Finally, a reminder that Year 10 require a fully equipped clear pencil case for their mock examinations, including a black ballpoint pen to write with, Maths equipment and a scientific calculator. Students will be provided with an ID label to stick on their pencil cases which must be clearly visible for each exam that they sit.

Five weeks down, one week to go! Year 11 have done an absolutely phenomenal job with this exam season and we couldn’t be prouder of them. Next week we have final exams for Physics, Music, Spanish, Food, DT and Further Maths and then Year 11 can look forward to an amazing summer ahead.
On Thursday 19 June, we have our Leavers’ Day celebrations, where we look forward to meeting students onsite for a final form time and assembly. Students should arrive for an 8.30am start, where they will have their final form time, followed by an assembly full of memories! We will then have time for some last goodbyes, before students leave the site at 11.10am. Of course, we will see them at prom in the evening, and we are so looking forward to it!
For Leavers’ Day, students are expected to be in non-uniform, except for a white shirt for collecting signatures and well wishes. Any donations of unwanted uniform would be gratefully received; please label them ‘FAO Amanda Wild’ and deliver them to the Hive.

At Rosebery School, our students enjoy an exciting journey of learning that goes far beyond the classroom. Each year group takes part in a rich variety of curriculum-linked trips that support academic study, inspire curiosity, and broaden horizons. From exploring the Somme Battlefields to engaging with science at Wisley Gardens, and experiencing US politics at the British Library, these trips bring subjects to life in meaningful and memorable ways.
Beyond academics, students also enjoy a wide range of enrichment experiences—from skiing in Les Deux Alpes to festive visits to Lille, and from Robotics Club competitions to theatre trips and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. These opportunities foster confidence, independence, and lasting friendships.
This guide provides an overview of the trips your daughter may be offered during the next school year. Please note that this is a provisional plan and each trip will be confirmed with full details, including costs, closer to the time.
This July, we are volunteering for a week in Portugal at an orphanage for infants. The Refugio Aboim Ascensão is a private, internationally recognized, non-profit charity organization working to better the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected children under the age of 6. We are raising money to fund the care provided and give the children a better life which we will donate when we arrive.

On Monday, the Year 7 students took part in a rounders tournament against 8 other schools. With high spirits and great weather, the team gave a strong effort throughout the tournament. After a slow start in the first game, they found their rhythm in the second with excellent batting from Juliet V 7EY and Kaitlyn D 7CX, and a stunning catch from Chloe V 7PX, securing a well-earned win. The third match was tightly contested, ending in a narrow loss, but the team stayed positive and supportive. In a close playoff for 5th place against Ashcombe, the game ended in a draw, with Rosebery finishing 6th overall based on outs. It was an evening full of teamwork, sportsmanship, and growth.
