Sports Day marks one of the most anticipated and exhilarating events in our school calendar, especially as Head of PE. This day, often said to be the best day of the year, did not disappoint. With the sun shining brightly, the atmosphere was buzzing, and the enthusiasm overwhelming. It was a day where our entire school community came together to celebrate athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit.
The engagement from everyone was fantastic. Our students seized the opportunity to showcase their talents, demonstrating not only their physical ability but also their dedication, resilience, and sportsmanship. From thrilling races to impressive field events, and energetic team events the display of skill and determination was truly inspiring.
A big thank you is in order for all the staff who supported this event. Your effort and commitment to ensuring everything ran smoothly did not go unnoticed. Without your support, such a successful day would not have been possible. The biggest thank you, however, goes to our incredible PE department. Team PE, your hard work, detailed planning, and enthusiasm have made today an unforgettable one for all.
A massive well done to all students on some outstanding results but a special mention to all those who broke records today – your achievements are a testament to the power of hard work and determination. You have set new benchmarks for future events, and we could not be prouder.
As we wrap up this phenomenal day, we already look forward to what next year will hold. Bring on next year, where we aim to make Sports Day even bigger and better!
What a day Sports Day 2024 was! It's always a highlight of the school year for me and this year was certainly no exception! After looking at the weather forecast for what felt like months before the day - we were graced with the perfect Sports Day weather of sunshine and clouds. I had the pleasure of being on the finish line this year and it was amazing to see how the girls put their bodies on the line for their houses, their year groups and their pride. Whilst the track team of teachers had a glorious and privileged position of seeing the races, we also had the complex task of trying to accurately place and time everyone who was competing. Some of the races were so close that it caused a few 'heated' discussions between the staff - and I can safely say that it wasn't just the students who were competitive on Sports Day. Staff on the finishing line took their roles very seriously and coped with their high pressure roles superbly. Thank you so much for all your help, Sports Day couldn't happen without you!
Some of my personal highlights from the day was watching the Year 10 300m and 100m races. The speed and determination shown by the girls was outstanding and the dive over the line was admirable! I also loved seeing the 800m and 1500m races. It never ceases to amaze me how supportive and encouraging the girls are towards each other in these events. Seeing friends running alongside the competitors, hearing the crowd cheer them on and watching the joy, pride (and relief) on their faces as they cross the finish line is always one of the most endearing aspects of the day.
Thank you to all the students for making this such a formidable day of sporting success, joy and endeavour - bring on Sports Day 2025!
This was my first ever Rosebery Sports Day. I'd heard so much in the run up to the event about how amazing it always is so I was really looking forward to the day.
It was a very early start for the PE department but as soon as we put the music on and turned up the volume we were all awake and ready for the day ahead.
During the morning I was officiating the long jump and the triple jump with a fantastic group of staff. The team worked extremely hard and we managed to get through over 120 girls performing their chosen jump. Stand out performances came from Machaela L 7EX and Elodie S 8MY in the triple jump and Grace W 7PX and Maisie S 8EX in the long jump. Following the mornings activities it was time to walk around and take in the different activities which were taking place. The obstacle course seemed to be a big favourite as was the very competitive bench ball. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and going to the extremes with the face paint, glitter and accessories. When the final athletics events and year group relay races took place, the whole school was brought together in the centre of the track. There was great support from everyone and it was clear that all the girls taking part had given 110% effort. The staff events were entertaining and although being present in the tug-o-war I did not feel I contributed much to my team's performance!
What a day! It was an incredible event where the whole school came together and celebrated sporting success.
I cannot wait for next year!
I love Sports Day! I love being a timer where we work as a team to both encourage the students and ensure their efforts are recorded . It impresses me every year how much joy and resilience I see in the students both on the track and the field.
Sports Day is my favourite day of the school year as I get to be with all my friends and do the things I love. I am very sad that this year was my last Sports Day, as every year I make the best memories with everyone. Although I couldn't participate in it this year due to injury, I still got to participate in the traditions of painting my house colours down my leg, putting glitter in my hair, and supporting my friends. My favourite part of Sports Day has to be the teachers relay as you see a new side to every teacher. The competition between each teacher is hilarious and has, every year, been the highlight of the day as it ends everything on a high with some very funny faces being pulled from the teachers. This will always be a core memory from my time at Rosebery.
Sports Day was such an amazing day. The atmosphere was incredible and it’s just such a special day when the whole school gets the opportunity to come together and support each other in every event.

On Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 July, all students will take part in a variety of celebration activities both in their lessons and with their year groups. Both days will be mufti days, with a request for donations to Epsom Pantry who will be supporting many families in the local area over the summer holidays. Below is a list of suggested donations from the pantry. We are so grateful for any donations you are able to make.
Year 7 - tinned tomatoes or mayonnaise
Year 8 - cooking/pasta sauces or cereal
Year 9 - custard or biscuits
Year 10 - tinned fish or sugar
Year 11 - ketchup/brown sauce or noodles
Sixth Form - tea or tinned vegetables
We would also like to ask for any uniform donations to be brought in on Wednesday 17 July, this will contribute to our PSA Pre-Loved Uniform sales. Should your daughter need any uniform for September, we will be holding a sale on Thursday 25 July between 3.00pm and 4.00pm.
