Who Am I?
Experienced and Ready
A career investing and improving the teaching and learning to help OUR STUDENTS THRIVE!
Over 40 Years Serving Students, Educators and Community: Lifelong Morgan Hill USD teacher, athletic coach, principal, director, and leadership coach focused on helping every student succeed and thrive.
A Family Committed to Student Success: Married to a MHUSD educator, parent of MHUSD graduates, and grandfather of five future students—all dedicated to strengthening public schools and improving outcomes for every child.
Proven Student Achievement: Former Britton Middle School principal who led the school to Distinguished School status through collaborative leadership.
On-the-Ground Perspective: Recent work as an interim principal at several MHUSD sites keeps me closely connected to our school’s strengths, challenges, and opportunities to meet student needs.
Smart Decisions for Students: A twice state-recognized strategic planner for using data and budgeting expertise to evaluate and prioritize programs to maximize results.
Accountability for Results: Experienced in leadership oversight, ensuring district decisions stay focused on student success and performance.
A Registered Democrat AND Devout Moderate who believes in the American Dream and values and respects the non-partisan office of school board trustee. I will listen to and consider the voice of all constituents. I will vote with a firm eye on our core mission of student achievement, campus safety, and fiscal responsibility. Education and our children are what unite us in our journey to a "more perfect union."
My Education Priorities
Focus on our core misson of educating students
Strong Foundations: Sharpen the focus on our core mission of educating students while working with parents and community based organizations to provide support beyond the classroom. Invest in high-quality primary grade curriculum and instruction in reading, writing, and math proficiency with a goal of on grade reading proficiency by third grade. For context, MHUSD 3rd graders are 13% less proficient than CA and 6% less proficient than Gilroy; our 3rd grade disadvantaged Latino students are 14% less proficient than CA and 12% less proficient than Gilroy; and our 3rd grade disadvantaged White students are 11% less proficient than CA and 16% less proficient than Gilroy (CAASPP reading scores).
Ready for the Future: Ensure all students have rich experiences in science, technology, arts, engineering, world languages, and Career Technical Education to be College and Career Ready when they graduate
Twenty-First Century Skills: Promote lifelong learning and the ability to form working relationships, conduct research and discern the value and truthfulness of information.
Student supports: Ensure students are well and come to school ready and supported to learn in inclusive welcoming learning environments.
Enrichment: Including academic milestones such as access to middle school algebra, leadership, social and extra-curricular activities.
Accountability for Students: Promote fiscal solvency to sustain consistent and successful programs that prioritize student success at every level.
My Fiscal Priorities
End deficit spending to sustain high quality programs and work force.
A strong sustainable work force: Attract and retain excellent teachers and staff with competitive salaries, benefits, and working conditions. Morgan Hill teachers rank 26th out of 28 county districts (who have confirmed their June 2026 data) in average teacher compensation. By comparison, our superintendent ranks 14th among superintendents and Gilroy teachers rank 20th with a $10,000 higher average teacher total compensation (salary + benefits), a $7000 higher beginning total compensation, and a $15,000 higher family benefit provider total compensation. Allowing our employee relative compensation to fall 6 steps below Gilroy is unprecedented and is leading to excessive turnover. MHUSD now has 20% of it's teachers classified as "inexperienced" (two or less years of experience). We lose capacity building, training investment, and continuity in our program every time a teacher leaves to another district.
Oversight to meet reserve obligations: Accountable budgeting that meets the minimum 12% reserve policy to remain fiscally solvent is imperative. Morgan Hill's budget trajectory has flirted with the state required 3% minimum which can trigger a state takeover and has prompted warning letters from our county office of education. The district is however continuing deficit spending with $143 million planned expenditures and annual revenue of $135 million, but is deceptively shrinking the deficit by: using one-time state improvements grants for essential recurring costs such as PG&E bills, not designating funds for an additional ten to twelve million dollars for required upcoming core subject curriculum adoptions; and by mortgaging our employee's standing in total compensation. Moving our employees back to historic parity with Gilroy would increase our three-year $9M adopted budget deficit to about $30M. To account for upcoming obligations and moving our employees to the same relative standing as our superintendent, the three-year deficit would be closer to $50M. Don't believe claims of high reserves.
Focus on Core Programs, safety and essential services: Education cuts are painful, every program is rooted in good intentions. Morgan Hill has approximately 174 additional employees now than before COVID but also about 500 less students; by comparison, only 20 less employees than Gilroy which has 2000 more students than Morgan Hill. We will have to make smart and informed reductions by focusing on essentials as well as strengthening community partnerships to produce the best student outcomes attainable. Staffing at a similar ratio as Gilroy could free-up over $10 Million per year to redirect towards urgent student outcome priorities.
Establish trust with transparency and sincere community involvement in the budget right sizing process to build the foundation to be successful and widely supported with any future bond proposals. We should never ask for more before demonstrating responsibility with what we have.
My Values
Trust and collaboration for the best we can do!
I value integrity, honesty, transparency, and accountability. Collaborative leadership to ensure that we are all working together in the service of our students is the best way to practice those values.
I believe every decision should start with a strong foundation for students. That means investing in high-quality reading, writing, and math instruction in every classroom so all students build the skills they need early and carry them forward through graduation. When we get the basics right, we open doors for every child, no matter their background.
I am committed to making sure every student graduates truly ready for what comes next, whether that is college, a trade, the military, or entering the workforce. Our schools must provide clear pathways to college and career readiness, including real-world learning that helps every student see the connection between what they learn in class and their goals for the future.
I strongly support expanding Career Technical Education and apprenticeship opportunities so students can explore careers, gain hands-on experience, and earn valuable and certified skills before they graduate. At the same time, I believe we must be responsible stewards of public funds, making sure every dollar we spend is aligned with student success. Accountability at every level—both academic and financial—is essential to earning the community’s trust and delivering the very best results for our students.
Why I'm running
I will bring a much needed skill set to our Board.
I’m running for the Morgan Hill Unified Governing Board—
"To keep every decision focused on one goal: helping our students thrive. After more than forty years as a teacher, principal, director, and parent in this district, I know how strong teaching, safe and welcoming schools, and effective programs can change a child’s life."
My family and I are all-in on public education—
"My wife and I were both teachers in MHUSD, our children graduated from these schools, and we have five preschool age grandchildren. I’m running to bring that on-the-ground experience, along with proven results and strong planning and budgeting skills, to protect key programs and keep the district accountable. In a time of tough choices, I want to make sure our resources and policies stay firmly centered on student success in every classroom."
"Glen Webb will do his homework and has the knowledge and experience to bring much needed oversight to our Governing Board"
