The students have done a wonderful job in Chapter 9: Geometric Shapes and Angles. In this unit, students learned to calculate circumference and area of circles, found the perimeter and area of composite figures, explored angle measures inside triangles and quadrilaterals, and discovered unknown angle measurements found in angle pairs. The Chapter 9 test will be on Friday, March 6th.
We’ll continue our geometric studies in Chapter 10: Surface Area and Volume. In this unit, students will find the surface area and volume of prisms, cylinders, and pyramids. We can't wait for all the exciting real world problems students will solve in this chapter. Students already have prior knowledge on surface area and volume. Their previous focus was finding the surface area and volume of rectangular prisms. We’ll extend their skills by learning to calculate the surface area and volume of triangular prisms, cylinders, and pyramids. The Chapter 10 test will be on Thursday, March 19th.
Keep up the tremendous work, mathematicians!
