Students have had a wonderful start to Chapter 11: Transformations! In this chapter, students will explore translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. They’ll learn how to conduct transformations both on and off a coordinate plane and will determine the new coordinates of a polygon after a given transformation. In the second part of the unit, students will use compositions of rigid motions to understand congruence and use scale factors to enlarge and reduce figures so they are similar to the original figures. We will have a culminating activity on transformations on Friday, April 14th.
Following Transformations, we will dive into Chapter 13: Linear Equations. In this unit, students will learn how to graph linear equations using a table of values, find and interpret the slope of a line, graph proportional relationships, and graph and write linear equations in slope-intercept form and standard form. The students are going to love Slope Dude! We will have a quiz covering the first three lessons on Friday, April 17th, and the chapter test will be on Wednesday, April 29th.
Keep up the tremendous work, mathematicians!
