We have been busy learning about Genes, Traits, and Survival. Students have been discovering how genetic variation occurs based on how genes are passed from parent to offspring. We've completed some fun projects, including monster creations and a dog breeding challenge. We even tested a genetic trait based on sensitivity to tase using PTC paper. Later this week, we will be learning about genetic mutations and environmental factors.

Students have been exploring how energy moves through ecosystems, focusing on the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers. This week, they’ve been applying their learning through a hands-on food web project, where they identify how different organisms connect and depend on one another. They are also learning to recognize and explain various ecological relationships, including predatory, competitive, and symbiotic interactions, using real-world examples to deepen their understanding of how ecosystems stay balanced.
Our next quiz is on Friday December 12th!

We have had a great start to the year! We are on our third part of our Bioflow unit - we have covered endothermic and exothermic reactions, the Law of Conservation of Mass and now we are working on Photosynthesis. Last week, we completed a spinach photosynthesis lab where students got to see the process of photosynthesis occur live.
Our next quiz is on Friday November 7th!
