8 Double Accelerated: Geometry

Fantastic start to Geometry! We dove right into the basic tools of Geometry. In the first part of the chapter, we’ve examined points, lines, and planes, measured and constructed segments, and solved complex problems using the Midpoint and Distance formulas. In the second half of the chapter, students will find perimeters and areas of polygons in the coordinate plane, and construct, measure and classify angles and angle pairs. The students will take the Chapter 1 Test on Tuesday, September 15th. 

Our next unit of study will be Chapter 2: Reasoning and Proof. In this chapter, students will have many opportunities to explore inductive and deductive reasoning. They’ll learn to write conditional and biconditional statements and learn to reason and construct valid arguments. They’ll love the connection to the Law of Syllogism with the book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie! This unit will be our introduction to writing two-column proofs. I know the students are going to do a wonderful job!
