Paystub Code Descriptions

Paystub Codes are split into 3 categories: Earnings, Deductions, and Other. A description of which codes fall under each category is described below.

Earnings

    • Regular Pensionable Earnings Codes:
      • Teachers/Custodians/Secretaries: Salary Guide Pay

      • Hourly Employees:
        • After Care-for employees working in the After Care program.
        • Before Care-for employees working in the Before Care Program
        • Aides Hourly-for hourly aides.
        • Front Desk (P)-for employees whose sole position is working the Front Desk at GRHS.
      • Substitutes:
        • Sub Pay 1-for substitute teachers.
        • Sub Pay 2-for substitute custodians.

        • Add. Period-pay for teaching an additional period.
        • Extra Duty Per.-pay for performing an extra duty period.
        • Guidance Summer-pay for guidance counselors working additional summer hours.
      • Custodians:
        • Black Seal-stipend for possessing a black seal license.
        • Bus Stipend-stipend for maintaining valid bus driver licenses.
        • Head Custodian-stipend for head custodians.
        • Asbestos-stipend for holding an NJ asbestos license.
        • Electrician-stipend for holding an NJ electrician's license.

    • Extra Compensation Earnings Codes:
      • Before Care NP-for teachers working in the Child Care Program.
      • Class Coverage-for any class coverage worked.
      • Coaching, Coaching 2, Coaching 3-for any coaching stipends.
      • Cocurricular 1, Cocurricular 2-for any cocurricular stipends.
      • Conferences-for parent conference attendance beyond contractual requirements.
      • Curriculum Writ.-for writing curriculum during the summer or school year.
      • Detention-for employees working Detention at GRHS.
      • Extra Activities-for additional evening activities paid at a flat rate.
      • Front Desk-for employees working the Front Desk at GRHS.
      • Home Instruction-for performing home instruction.
      • Insurance Waiver-semi-annual payment for waiving medical insurance.
      • Overnight-for staff chaperoning overnight events.
      • Overtime pay-for staff working approved overtime.
      • Workshop-for employees presenting at workshops.
    • Special Earnings Codes:
      • Extra Codes: Extra Pay, Extra Pay 2, Extra Pay 3, Hourly Pay; used in special circumstances.
      • Retirement:
        • Vacation Days-for payment of unused vacation time.
        • Retirement Pay-for payment of unused sick/vacation time at retirement.
      • System Codes:
        • Absence Pay-used to dock employee pay as needed.
      • Sumr Sav Payback-for returning summer pay withheld during the school year.
      • Worker's Compensation
        • Salary remitted on Workers Comp and Work Comp Extra.
    • Summer
      • CST:
        • CST Evaluation-for CST members performing evaluations.
        • CST Extra Days-for CST members working days during the summer.
        • CST-Management-for CST members performing case management during the summer.
        • CST-Meeting-for CST members attending parent meetings during the summer.
      • Librarians/Nurses:
        • Ext. Librarian-for library summer hours.
        • Ext. Nursing-for nursing summer hours.
      • Extended School Year-for ESY staff.
      • Summer Staff:
        • Summer Help-for students working during the summer.

Deductions

    • Taxes:
      • Federal Tax-standard federal withholding taxes, including additional amounts.
      • FICA-standard FICA/Social Security taxes; 6.2% of salary; up to $128,400 in 2018.
      • Medicare-standard Medicare taxes; 1.45% of salary with no limit.
      • NJ State Tax-standard NJ tax withholding, including additional amounts.
      • Unemployment Ins-mandatory NJ unemployment tax; up to $33,700 of income for 2018.
      • Family Leave Ins-mandatory NJ family leave tax; up to $33,700 of income for 2018.
      • PA State Tax-for PA residents; in lieu of NJ State Tax.
    • Pension:
      • Pension-regular pension deductions
      • Contributory Ins.-regular contributory insurance (life insurance) deductions.
      • Back Pension Ded.-back deductions for pension; only used for new employees.

      • Summer Pay-Summer Savings % and Sumr Savings PP (flat dollar amount)

Other

    • Direct Deposit:
      • Net Direct Dep-for employee paychecks direct deposited into primary account.
      • Direct Dep Amt 1, Direct Dep Amt 2, Direct Dep Amt 3, Direct Dep Amt 4-for specific dollar values being deposited into a separate direct deposit account.
      • Credit Union: for those holding a credit union account.
    • Imputed Income: income imputed for the value of life insurance over $50,000.00.
