School-to-Home Connection
Please share your email address with us! We will use email to let you know when our monthly class news has been posted on the website and for other classroom communications. As soon as you can, please email us from your preferred email account so we have your address. Email us at dabirik@glastonburyus.org and kvadusg@glastonburyus.org
On the first few days of school, please have your child wear the sticker you will receive from the transportation department. This sticker indicates your child’s teacher and how your child arrives at and departs from school.
Lunch:
For the first two weeks of school, please send your child with a lunch, with items they can open independently.
Delaying the start of lunch purchases gives students time to learn the routines of eating lunch and cleaning up in the cafeteria before we introduce the process of buying lunch at school.
School lunch prices are $3.00 for lunch, 50¢ for milk, and 75¢ for water or juice. The cafeteria serves a featured meal each day, but also serves the following daily: salad, ham, turkey or tuna sandwich. They also offer peanut butter, peanut butter and jelly, and peanut butter and fluff sandwiches.
For students with allergies, there is a nut-free table in the cafeteria.
Click here for information on creating a school lunch account.
Birthdays:
On your child's birthday, he or she will be the star of the day! We will celebrate you child's birthday with a special song and a class book.
We ask that you refrain from sending edible treats, as we have a school-wide initiative that focuses on healthy celebrations.
Rest Time:
We have a short rest time after lunch each day, where children rest quietly and listen to music.
Students also use this time to get drinks of water, use the bathroom, and wash their hands without missing any instruction or activities.
Snack:
We are a peanut-free classroom. Please do not send anything that contains peanuts or peanut butter.
Students will have the opportunity to eat snack in the morning and the afternoon.
Please send two healthy snacks, packed separately from their lunchbox.
Please send your child with a labeled, reusable water bottle. Water is only permitted in our classroom, but other drinks are acceptable in the cafeteria.
Donations:
Please consider donating the following items to our class: Ziploc bags (gallon size), sandwich size ziplock bags, tissues, spoons, and wipes.
