What does the PTO do?

 The Buttonball PTO is the primary liaison between the school staff community and the parent community. We host a number of events, both to fundraise and to build community spirit.

What events does the PTO host?

 We host a wide variety of events - some of our biggest past hits include the Back to School Bash, Trunk or Treat, BINGO Night, and school book fairs. Our specific programming each year is dependent on the number of volunteers we have to plan and execute the events, as well as on our budget.

What does the fundraising funds allow the school to do?

 PTO fundraising directly supports critical educational objectives including cultural arts exposure (e.g., the 4th grade's Number the Stars program with Hartford Stage), the school's annual STEAM Night event, and library programming such as author visits. It also supports activities that keep Buttonball Lane a top destination for best-in-class teaching and support staff, such as staff appreciation week, year-round staff snacks, and school campus beautification.  Currently, one of our top fundraising missions is to raise money for a new, more accessible swing set for the school playground.

What is the time commitment to be a part of the PTO?

We have opportunities that fit every interest and availability! We are always looking for volunteers to help at our various events throughout the year. Those who want to make a bigger commitment can consider chairing one of our events or joining the Board. 

What if I work full-time or don’t have a lot of time to give?

 No problem! You can volunteer during our evening events, or support the PTO financially through Buttonball BUCKS (on our website).

When and where do you meet?

 We meet monthly at 6:30 pm in the BBL art room (back left room in the building). Childcare is typically available for those who need it. Information on the next meeting is always posted on the PTO website home page, and a full calendar for the 2025/2026 school year will be posted in late summer 2025.
