By using Layers, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Profile Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Username

• First and last name

• Email address

• Phone number (used as your unique account identifier)

• Profile photo (optional - stored on our servers only if you choose to upload one)

If you choose to log in via Facebook, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture from your Facebook account in accordance with Facebook's privacy policies.

1.2 Phone Number and Account Security

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): We use your phone number for account verification and security purposes. When you create an account or log in, we may send SMS verification codes to your registered phone number to:

• Verify your identity during account creation

• Provide two-factor authentication for enhanced account security

• Confirm login attempts from new devices or locations

• Verify account recovery requests

SMS verification codes are temporary and used only for authentication purposes. We do not use your phone number for marketing or share it with third parties for advertising.

1.3 Contact Information

Full Contact Access (iOS 18+): Layers requires full access to your device contacts to enable our mutual contact verification system. This is a core security feature that ensures you only connect with people you actually know.

How we use your contacts:

• To identify which of your contacts are also using Layers

• To verify mutual connections (both parties must have each other's phone numbers)

• To display your contacts in the Members List

• To enable you to invite contacts to use Layers

Important: Your contact information is used solely for connection verification and is protected with industry-standard encryption. We do not share your contacts with third parties or use them for advertising purposes.

1.4 Messages and Communications

We collect and process:

• Text messages sent between you and your contacts

• Voice messages

• Photos and videos shared in conversations

• PDF documents shared in conversations

• Group chat messages and media

End-to-End Encryption: All text messages and secure links to images, videos, and audio files are protected with end-to-end encryption. This means that only you and the intended recipient(s) can read or access the messages—we cannot access the content of your encrypted communications.

1.5 Location Data

Real-Time Location Sharing: Our geolocation features allow you to share your location with trusted contacts within specific groups. Location sharing is disabled by default and requires your explicit permission.

How we use location data:

• To display your real-time location on maps to group members you've authorized

• To enable geofencing features (automatic messages when arriving at locations)

• To send remote monitoring notifications to authorized contacts when you arrive at important places

• To provide place discovery features (nearby restaurants, cafes, parks, etc.)

• To save your favorite locations

Your control: You must explicitly grant location access permissions and enable location sharing for each specific group. You can disable location sharing at any time in your settings.

1.6 Calendar and Events Data

We collect and store:

• Event titles, descriptions, dates, and times

• Event locations

• RSVP responses from group members

• Event reminders and notifications you set

• Weather forecast data associated with your events

Events can be private (visible only to you) or shared with specific groups.

1.7 To-Do Lists and Tasks

We collect and store:

• Task titles and descriptions

• Task completion status

• Personal to-do lists

• Shared group to-do lists

1.8 Voice Input and Translation Data

Voice Typing: When you use voice input features, audio is processed to convert speech to text. This processing may use device-level services provided by your operating system (iOS).

Real-Time Translation: When you use the real-time text translation feature in one-to-one chats, message content is processed through third-party translation services to provide translations.

1.9 Technical and Usage Information

We automatically collect:

• Device information (model, operating system version)

• App version and usage statistics

• IP address

• Log data and crash reports

• Performance and diagnostic information

This information helps us maintain, improve, and secure the App.

1.10 Weather Data

We use third-party weather services to provide 7-day weather forecasts for your events. Location information is shared with these services only when you create events with location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide Core Features: Enable messaging, calling, location sharing, calendars, and to-do lists

• Verify Connections: Implement mutual contact verification to create a safe, spam-free environment

• Account Security: Verify accounts through SMS-based two-factor authentication, prevent fraud, and protect against unauthorized access

• Enable Communication: Facilitate one-to-one and group chats, voice and video calls

• Location Services: Provide map views, place discovery, geofencing, and remote monitoring

• Organize Your Life: Manage events with RSVP tracking, weather forecasts, and smart reminders

• Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix bugs

• Customer Support: Respond to your inquiries and provide technical assistance

• Notifications: Send you important updates, reminders, location-based alerts, and SMS verification codes

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their advertising, marketing, or research purposes.

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

3.1 With Other Users (By Your Choice)

• Profile information with contacts you've connected with

• Messages and media with recipients you choose

• Real-time location with group members you've authorized

• Events and RSVPs with group members

• To-do lists with group members

• Location arrival notifications with contacts you've configured for geofencing alerts

3.2 With Service Providers

We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App, including:

• Cloud hosting and storage providers

• SMS gateway providers (for sending verification codes)

• Weather data services

• Map and location services

• Translation services

• Analytics and crash reporting tools

These providers are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and use it only for the services they provide to us.

3.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to:

• Comply with applicable laws and regulations

• Respond to valid legal requests

• Protect our rights, property, or safety

• Protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public

3.4 Business Transfers

If GLABS SOLUTIONS PTE. LTD. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and your options regarding your information.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

• End-to-end encryption for messages and secure media links

• SMS-based two-factor authentication (2FA)

• Encrypted storage for data on our servers

• Phone number verification for account creation

• Mutual contact verification to prevent connections with strangers

• Connection requests that require acceptance before communication begins

• Secure authentication protocols

• Regular security audits and updates

However, no security system is 100% impenetrable. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you discover any security vulnerabilities, please report them to us immediately at gerard@glabs.solutions.

5. Data Retention

5.1 Account Data

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove:

• User profile information

• Email address and phone number

• Profile photos

• Contact connections

5.2 Messages and Media

• Messages are automatically deleted from our servers once they have been read by all recipients, providing enhanced privacy similar to ephemeral messaging

• Unread messages are temporarily stored on our servers to enable delivery across your devices

• You can delete individual messages or entire conversations at any time from your device

• Deleted content is removed from our servers within a reasonable timeframe

5.3 Location Data

• Real-time location data may be collected and stored on our servers if you grant "always" location permission, but is never shared with others unless you explicitly enable sharing

• Location sharing to groups is disabled by default - you must manually enable it in settings for each specific group

• Geofencing location data is used only to trigger automatic messages when you arrive at designated locations, as configured by you

• Location data is not shared with other users unless you intentionally enable group location sharing or use geofencing features

• Favorite locations are saved locally on your device, not on our servers

• You can disable location access or group-specific location sharing at any time in your settings

5.4 Events and Tasks

• Events and to-do lists are retained until you delete them

• Past events remain accessible for your records unless manually deleted

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your information:

6.1 Access and Update

You can access and update your profile information, settings, and preferences at any time through the App.

6.2 Location Control

• Enable or disable location access in your device settings

• Control location sharing for each group individually

• Turn off geofencing features at any time

6.3 Contact Access

You can revoke contact access through your device settings. However, this will limit your ability to find and connect with contacts on Layers.

6.4 Delete Account

You may delete your account at any time:

1. Open Layers

2. Go to "More" → "Feedback" → "Delete My Account"

3. Confirm deletion

Once deleted, all your account information, including profile photo, email, and phone number, will be removed from our servers. This action is irreversible.

6.5 Opt-Out of Communications

You can manage notification preferences in your App settings. Note that SMS verification codes are essential for account security and cannot be disabled while using the App.

7. Children's Privacy

Layers is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Parental Monitoring Features: While Layers includes features that allow parents to monitor their children's locations, these features are designed for parental use. Parents are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent and ensuring compliant use of monitoring features.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

8. International Data Transfers

GLABS SOLUTIONS PTE. LTD. is based in Singapore. Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Singapore or other countries where our service providers operate.

By using Layers, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws.

We take appropriate measures to ensure your data receives adequate protection wherever it is processed, in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

9. Third-Party Services

9.1 Facebook Login

If you choose to log in via Facebook, your use is subject to Facebook's Privacy Policy. We receive only the information you authorize Facebook to share with us.

9.2 SMS Gateway Services

We use third-party SMS gateway providers to send verification codes. These providers process your phone number and verification messages in accordance with their privacy policies and our data processing agreements.

9.3 Map Services

We use third-party map services (such as Google Maps or Apple Maps) to provide location features. Your use of these services is subject to their respective privacy policies.

9.4 Weather Services

We use third-party weather data providers to offer forecast information. Location data may be shared with these providers to retrieve relevant weather information.

9.5 Other Third-Party Links

Layers may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes:

• We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

• For material changes, we will post a prominent notice in the App or on our website

• For significant changes, we may send you an email notification

Your continued use of Layers after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

12. Language

This Privacy Policy may be translated into other languages for your convenience. In the event of any inconsistency or conflict between the English version and any translated version, the English language version shall prevail and govern.
