The aim of the project is for the students to discover one of the fathers of pedagogy, John Amos Comenius and find out how his visionary principles shaped education in the past and now on both sides of the borders. Excursions will involve visiting museums of education in Prague CZ and Pszczyna Pl, local history museums in Hradec Kralove CZ and Katowice Pl. Workshops: first aid course and lecture together with the demonstration of an artificial patient used as a dummy for training medics at Medical faculty of Charles Univerzity in Hradec Kralove CZ, a workshop on education in the past at Krakow Univerzity Pl. Debates: Czech and Polish students will debate the changing role of education and interview teachers in both countries on how Comenius' principles found their way into today's lessons. Performances: participants will research, rehearse and perform how lessons were taught in the past and use Comenius' ideas on dramatisation of subject-matter. Other outputs: Pictionary (inspired by Orbis Pictus), journals, Canva presentations and brochures, recorded interviews and visits to the museums, Venn's diagram on CZ and Pl educational systems, filmed re-enactments. 10 students/youth + 2 Accompanying adults from each country. This mobility will involve 10 Czech and 10 Polish students aged 16 to 18 who are particularly interested in history and legacy and are able to communicate in English at B2 level. The selection will depend on their teachers' recommendations.: 24 

Prior to the week in Czechia, students from CZ and PL will interview some teachers from their schools to find out how they prepare for lessons and what methods and techniques they tend to use. They will use this information to draw comparisons between the two schools and see how Comenius’ methods are being implemented in today’s classes (outcome: Venn’s diagram, noticeboards, Canva presentations, recorded interviews). Based on the provided background of Comenius’ innovations mixed groups of students will act out a lesson in a traditional conservative way and according to Comenius’ principles (outcome: footages of these recorded scenes). Later that week we will visit the museum of pedagogy based in Prague and the faculty of medicine in Hradec Kralove where students will take a first aid course and observe what techniques are used to train medics (including dummies and artificial patient run by specially developed software). Also, students will attend workshops to experience the latest trends in education such as virtual reality, newly-designed art and music room in the Czech school, AI-based apps used in language classes, etc. In all these activities students will be discovering innovative approaches to education whilst trying to trace them back to Comenius. 

In Poland students will further explore what they acquired in Czechia, namely Comenius’ general principles. Apart from Comenius, they will research about a Polish reformer whose ideas matched Comenius’ ones. They will design a pictionary inspired by Comenius’ Orbis Pictus on selected topics. Visits to local museums, workshops provided there and open-air museums (in Pszczyna, Krakow, Katowice) with team activities will give them another insight into how children were taught in the past and how a system of apprenticeship worked and what reforms and innovations were needed to ease the process of education. Besides the pictionary, they will also create a worksheet or a chapter of a textbook that would help young learners understand a certain topic more effectively. Thirdly, the teams of students will produce a journal mapping individual steps throughout the whole project. Also, the Czech students will be shown round the school and with the help of their Polish counterparts will explore similarities and differences between these two countries' schooling systems and will draw on the findings from the autumn project week in Czechia. Both Czech and Polish teachers will keep track of their students' work and outcomes and publish them via website OrgPad.info with links available on schools' social media.
