WELCOME TO OUR CLASSROOM!
Hello! I am Mrs. Carol Dunton and I'm so happy to welcome you and your child to our virtual classroom! We have a wonderful year ahead of us with a rich curriculum and a lot of fun along the way. I love helping my kiddos learn new skills! I am amazed at how much young minds want to know, how they are curious about everything around them, and how eager they are to explore and learn all that they can! Please take a look at all of the information here as it will help make the beginning of school easier for you and your child to access. Let's do this!

WE'LL BE USING THESE .....
ClassDojo
We will be using the ClassDojo app as our primary daily means of communication. The app is in your smartphone's store and is free to download and use. Please set this up, as I will be sending you an invitation to accept so that you are in our ClassDojo classroom and can receive important information from me.
WebEx Classroom
We will be using Webex as our virtual classroom. Please make sure that this program in set up on your child's computer. Through our Webex classroom, your child will be meeting with me for live class instruction, meetings, testing, etc. The link for our WebEx classroom is on the landing page for each subject in Buzz. I will also send the link to families through ClassDojo, school email and our weekly newsletter.
Infinite Campus
Infinite Campus is where you will enter your child's time spent completing their class work. Buzz automatically records their time spent doing their assignments in the platform, however, you will also enter the time they spend outisde of Buzz doing school work, such as reading, practicing sight words, etc.
Infinite Campus also will have your child's quarterly grades, as well as contact information for your child. Please make sure the we have your correct email address, home address, phone numbers, etc.
OUR AFFIRMATION
I believe in all of my students, and I want them to believe in themselves, too! Our affirmation reminds each one of us that we ARE smart, that we ARE strong, and that we CAN DO ANYTHING!!

A Little Bit About Me:
This is my 44th year as a educator; my 23nd with Gilbert Public Schools. I earned my Bachelor's degree in 'Elementary Education' with a minor in 'Early Childhood Education' from ASU. I later earned my Master's degree in 'Curriculum and Instruction' from NAU. Previously, I taught 1st & 2nd grade at Gilbert Elementary for 20 years. This is my third year teaching for Gilbert Global Academy!
I have lived in Gilbert for 30 years and have two grown children; a son and a daughter. I have two grandsons, Calvin (6) and Frankie (3), with another grandson due any minute now! I love reading, crafting, working in my garden, and taking care of my critter menagerie (3 chickens, 3 cats and a desert tortoise). My favorite restaurant is Nando's Mexican Cafe and I love spending time in the forest up on the Mogollion Rim.
