Hello! My name is Connie Wieberg (pronounced We-berg). I am the full-time Reading Specialist at Harris Elementary. I love finding creative ways to help students enjoy and strengthen their literacy skills through the Science of Reading. My specialties are using diagnostic tools to find the literacy needs of students and applying the Science of Reading to fill in their gaps and promote literacy achievement.
I believe it is so important to make strong connections with students so that educators can easily differentiate instruction to match the needs and interests of their students, making learning fun! It is equally important to create a safe classroom environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and taking risks. Mistakes are what help us grow and learn!
This is my twelfth year of teaching grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade, as well as serving as a K-6 Reading Specialist. I hold a master's degree in Elementary Education, an Early Childhood Endorsement, and a Reading Endorsement. I love learning!
My husband and I are originally from St. Louis, Missouri area (Go Cards!). We have three busy children (15, 18, and 21) who have all only attended Gilbert Public Schools, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Some of my favorite hobbies and activities include camping with my family and friends, collecting heart-shaped rocks, crafting, cooking healthy meals, going to the movies, snorkeling & scuba diving, and attending my daughter's volleyball games. My favorite place in the whole world is the beach!
