Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, Gibraltar Area Schools will be closed until May 4, 2020. The School
Board will re-evaluate the closure dates at the April 13 and April 27 board meetings, and will decide to extend
or discontinue the school closing. All activities, sporting events, practices, meetings, and community events
hosted by the school will be canceled until further notice. A deep clean of the entire building and school-owned
vehicles will occur during this closure.
Expectations for remote learning in Grades K-5 and 6-12 are attached to this message. Remote learning occurs
when the learner and instructor are separated by time and distance and therefore cannot meet in a traditional
classroom setting. The administration reviewed feedback from parents and staff to develop a set of expectations
that will be consistent, yet flexible to meet the individual needs of students. If you or a family you know is
struggling to connect to the internet, please call our Technology Director, Andrew Moore, at (920) 868-3284
Remote learning will begin on Wednesday, March 18 and continue through May 4, 2020. We will not conduct
remote learning over Spring Break (March 23-March 27). On April 13, the administration will meet to review
remote learning for possible areas of improvement. If the school closure extends beyond May 4, Gibraltar Area
Schools will continue to provide remote learning.
The District will offer free lunches for any child living in the Gibraltar School District starting on March 30,
2020. Lunches will be provided at the following fire departments; Gibraltar, Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Bailey’s
Harbor, Sister Bay, and Liberty Grove. Individuals can pick up these lunches between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM,
and 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
The Gibraltar Administration will continue to monitor the situation and develop plans for the reopening of the
school building. We will communicate these plans through our School Messenger program. Please check your
email frequently for updates from the District and your child’s teachers. Thank you for your patience and
understanding as we navigate this unique situation.
