Year 3 Home Learning

Friday 15th January 2021

Welcome!

Hello everyone. We've made it through another week of home learning. Hurray!

Thank you so much for all the work you have been sending in. Well done to you (and your grown ups!) for such a good effort.

You can record a video reply to the Flipgrid if you like (you'll need your Google account details) and you can send us any work you've done on this or by the email address - y3class2020@ghyllside.cumbria.sch.uk .

Today, we are back to our skills check and Grammar Hammer. These are the same ones you did last week...you need to try them completely on your own this week, just as you would do in class. We will post the answers to both of these later on today.

As always, if you don't understand anything we set, or if you'd like some help, all you have to do is ask and we will help you as much as we can. We will be working in school as well as doing remote learning and taking care of our own families, so please bear with us if we take a bit of time to respond.

** Please note, any work sent to us after 5pm this evening will be responded to on Monday. Thank you for working so hard this week, we are very proud of you all. We wish you a very happy weekend.**

Reading

Try to spend 20-30 minutes reading, either to yourself or to a grown-up - you could also spend some time listening to The Boy Who Grew Dragons or, if you click the link below, you could choose one of the Story Time Online books, which is a list of chapter books read by their author (including a chapter of TBWGD read by Andy Shepherd herself!).

Maths - Skills Check

Today is our normal day for Skills Checks. Have a go at the attached sheet, we don't expect you to know it all yet but you should be able to have a good go at the first 10 questions - then pick a few others and have a go at those too! These are the same ones you did last week...you need to try them completely on your own this week, just as you would do in class.

Times Tables Rock Stars

Please spend 5-10 minutes playing the 'garage' or 'arena' automatic games on TTRS - there are lots of studies that show a few minutes a day is the best way to learn your times tables so give it a go!

English - Grammar Hammer

Have a go at the Grammar Hammer sheet - remember we don't expect you to know all of the answers yet! Try the prefix questions, the alphabetical order one, the homophones questions and the apostrophes questions - then pick a couple more and try those too! These are the same ones you did last week...you need to try them completely on your own this week, just as you would do in class.

PE - Keeping Fit

Don't use lockdown as an excuse to let your fitness levels drop - it's really important to stay active! Mr Hoare has put together a set of activities for you. Make sure you have enough room before you start any of the activities and HAVE FUN!
