Dear Parents

This week started with 'drums and teeth' and we finished with showcasing 'drums and talent' of the kids.   We were visited by the Red Cresent on Thursday and the school will now create an official Red Cresent Committee to drive initiatives during the school academic years.  During the week the whole school visited the Qu'rantic Park and really enjoyed. And finally, we celebrated Emariti Education Day with the older children reading UAE culture books to the younger children, having a House Spelling Competition of words associated with the UAE, and gave thanks to notable Emirati achievements.  

 I'd like to thank all of you for attending the teacher-parent meetings, it was great to have you involved.  Please remember that you can arrange to meet the teachers at any time during the year should you have any queries or concerns.

Ramadan starts this weekend, so school will open Monday at 7.50 am for the first lesson at 8.00 am and we will close at 12.45 pm for kid's pick-up from Monday - Thursday.  PLEASE NOTE:

In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, and in His Highness's dedication to strengthening family bonds during the holy month, it has been decided to implement the remote learning for private school students in Dubai on Fridays throughout the blessed month of Ramadan. 

We will be sending out a Ramadan  Drive Activity next week and we are working with the Red Cresent to provide assistance to the less fortunate.

Dear Parents and Students,

Sharing is caring

As we enter the blessed month of Ramadan, a time of reflection, compassion, and selflessness, we want to take a moment to remind our students about the importance of sharing and caring for others. Ramadan offers the perfect opportunity to practice kindness and generosity, values that are at the heart of our school community.

One of the beautiful lessons of this holy month is the act of giving. We encourage our students to embrace the spirit of Ramadan by sharing with those who are less fortunate. Whether it's sharing a meal, offering help, or simply being there for someone in need, every act of kindness counts.

In support of this, we have introduced a collection box at school, as part of our Ramadan drive. This box will be placed in a central location, where students can contribute non-perishable food items, or other essentials for those who are struggling in our community. By sharing what we have, we not only help others but also instill in our children the values of generosity, empathy, and gratitude.

We hope that through this initiative, our students will learn the true essence of Ramadan: caring for those in need and giving from the heart. This is a wonderful way for the whole school to come together, contributing to a more compassionate society, one small act of kindness at a time.

Thank you for your continued support, and let’s make this Ramadan a time of giving, reflection, and community spirit.

This week was full of excitement as the children discovered a surprise—our egg hatched! The security camera caught a baby dragon wandering through our classroom, sparking a thrilling hunt. The children created detailed missing posters, describing the dragon and where it was last seen, before sharing them with the rest of the school as part of the "Find the Lost Dragon" crew. Although they’ve been keeping a close watch for any new sightings, the baby dragon remains elusive.

In science, we continued our exploration of forces by investigating how magnets can push or pull objects depending on their polarity. The children also experimented with racing cars on different surfaces to see how texture affects movement. In math, we explored combining groups of objects and practiced doubling numbers up to eight. Meanwhile, in phonics, we focused on the digraph /ur/. It’s been a fantastic week of learning and discovery!

This week has been filled with lots of learning and fun! In Maths we have been wrapping up our topic of multiplication and division. The children have been revising / re-calling the 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times table and using different methods to calculate the sums. Next week we will be having our end of unit assessment and moving on to our next topic of length and perimeter. Whereas in English the children have been using their persuasive language skills to start writing up their pitch ideas for their innovated Choco-Goo product. In Science we started our new topic of light, we explored what light is and what different light sources we use in our everyday lives. 

The children really enjoyed our special guests who came for their dental care check up and participated in lots of fun activities with their mascot! They also thoroughly enjoyed their school trip to the Quranic Park where they learnt great facts about Islam.

This week, Year 4 students had an exciting mix of learning and fun! The week started with a dental event featuring drumming and check-ups, followed by an educational trip to Quran Park where they explored caves and vegetation from the Quran. 

In English, we continued to plan our newspaper report and began to plan and write our own. It was great to see the students using the features they learnt in their writing. In Maths we learnt to convert improper fractions to proper fractions with the use of multiplication skills!

They showcased their talents in a thrilling talent show and participated in Emirati Education Day, including a spelling bee. 

Gentle reminder that from next week, school will be open from 7:50am for the first lesson to start at 8am. It is crucial that all students are seated in class for 8am to start the first lesson. School closes at 12:45pm, please ensure you are on time to collect your child.

Year 5 had another busy week. The week kicked off with a DHA dental health check, where the children enjoyed getting their teeth checked. Following that, they went on a trip to Quranic Park, which was a great learning experience for them. Year 4, 5, and 6 also read books written by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to the younger years and took part in a Spelling Bee test. The Talent Show was amazing to watch, with so many fantastic acts.

In English, the children started writing non-chronological reports on 'Pearl Diving in the UAE.' As Mathematicians, they applied their multiplication knowledge to solve word problems. They also explored short division and carried the remainder. In Science, the children explored key terms such as 'weight, matter, and mass,' and used a force meter to measure the weight of objects in newtons. In MSC, we explored what a trading network was and how merchants travelled.

Thank you to Alihasan and Andrii for joining the online workshop curated by Mr Neelakantha Bhanu Prakash, The World’s Fastest Human Calculator! It was great to learn new strategies.

Next week, school will open at 7:50am for the first lesson to start at 8:00am and will close at 12:45pm. Please ensure your child arrives at school on time so lessons can start promptly at 8:00am.

This week, Year 6 students had an exciting mix of learning and fun! In class, they created Arctic animal fact files for their non-chronological reports, worked on ratios in Maths, studied mountain ranges in Humanities, and explored circuits and battery components in Science. It has been a fantastic week of discovery and celebration!

I am pleased to introduce myself to you as Ms. Asmaa Abdel-Zaher El-Sherbiny, Head of theArabic Department at Al Ghaf School. I am honored to collaborate with the distinguished teaching team at the school to provide the highest levels of education in Arabic language and Islamic studies, contributing to the enhancement of our students' cultural and religious identity. الروضة: كانت بداية رائعة لهذا الأسبوع، قمنا بمراجعة أنشدوة الخضروات والتعرف علي انواع جديدة من الخضروات بالعربية مثل : (   قرنبيط - بروكلي - بقدونس) ،  وتدربنا على جمل بسيطة باللغة العربية : ( هذا قرنبيط اخضر – أنا آكل بروكلي )، كما قمنا بعمل أنشطة مختلفة وتلوين أوراق العمل. كما تحدثنا عن فضل شهر رمضان المبارك وقمنا بعمل بعض الانشطة وتلوين فانوس رمضان.
  الصَّف الثاني : قمنا بتكملة درس حرف الصاد ( ص ) وتعرفنا على أشكاله المختلفة ، بالحرك ات الطويلة والقصيرة، وقمنا بدراسة قصة (فصيح وصدقه البلبل ) ،  وشرحها بأسلوب مُبسط وحل أوراق العمل ، كما قمنا بعمل أنشطة مختلفة وتلوين أوراق العمل. كما تحدثنا عن فضل شهر رمضان المبارك وقمنا بعمل بعض الانشطة وتلوين فانوس رمضان.
الصَّف الرابع : قمنا بتكملة قصة ( حلا تجعل حياتها أحلى ) وقمنا بتحليل عناصر القصة والدروس المستفادة  منها ، وبعض القواعد النحوية (تكوين الجملة الأسمية  ، تكوين  الجملة ) ، كما تحدثنا عن فضل شهر رمضان المبارك وقمنا بعمل بعض الانشطة وتلوين فانوس رمضان.

                                                                                                                                                                      :الصَّف الثاني: كما نفعل دائمًا، بدأنا بالتحية على الطلاب وتعليمهم كيفية الرد على هذه التحية بالطريقة الإسلامية، وكان من الرائع جدًا أن نبدأ درسنا بمراجعة ما درسه من قبل للاستعداد للدرس الجديد وهو (سورة الفلق). وتعلمنا معاني الكلمات القرآنية في سورة الفلق. نعمل بجد ونشاط على مراجعة سورة الفاتحة والإخلاص، مع التركيز على التدريب على سورة الفلق، كما نشجع الطلاب على مراجعتها وممارستها في المنزل لتعزيز مهاراتهم الحفظ والإتقان. ونحن الآن نتحدث عن الوضوء وحفظنا الأنشودة، كما تحدثنا عن فضل شهر رمضان المبارك وقمنا بعمل بعض الانشطة وتلوين فانوس رمضان

الصَّف الرابع: في الإسلامية هذا الأسبوع كان من الرائع دراسة أول 7 آيات من (سورة الفجر). لقد قمنا بمراجعة سورة البينة، ونعمل حاليا على حفظ وتدبر آيات سورة الفجر، كما نشجع الطلاب على ممارسة تلاوتها في المنزل لتعزيز حفظهم. وإتقان تلاوتهم. ودرسنامن أحكام التجويد ( حكم القلقلة) وقمنا بتطبيق حكم القلقلة أثناء تلاوة سورة الفجر وتم شرح المعنى الإجمالي  لمعاني للآيات وجعل الطلاب يعيشون مع لحظات نزول القرآن الكريم على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من خلال فيديو تعليمي عن سورة الفجرلتعزيز فهم الطلاب للقيم المستفادة من السورة، مما يساعدهم على الارتباط العميق بتعاليم دينهم وتطبيقها في حياتهم اليومية كما تحدثنا عن فضل شهر رمضان المبارك وقمنا بعمل بعض الانشطة وتلوين فانوس رمضان

FS: It was a great start to the week. We reviewed the vegetable song and learned new types of vegetables in Arabic, such as: (Cauliflower - broccoli - parsley). We practiced simple sentences in Arabic (This is green cauliflower - I eat broccoli). We did various activities and colored worksheets. We also did different activities and coloring worksheets. We also talked about the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan and did some activities and coloring the Ramadan lantern.

y1:It was a great start to the week! We did a thorough review of everything covered previously and completed the lesson on the letter (ع) Aien, exploring its different shapes, long and short vowels, and various words associated with it. Additionally, we used the vocabulary to build a sentences

Additionally, we used the conjunction "and" to construct, write, and read sentences correctly.We also talked about the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan and did some activities and coloring the Ramadan lantern.
y3:It was a great start to the week as we reviewed what we had studied previously. We have completed the lesson letters (د - ذ   ).the lesson on "Days of the Week" and began a new lesson titled "Time and Date," where we learned how to structure the date and talk about "the running race." The students practiced reading time on digital clocks and also learned how to say the date in Arabic, for example: "Today is Friday, February 21st, and the time now is 10 AM." We completed the activities and worksheets in the notebook.We also talked about the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan and did some activities and coloring the Ramadan lantern.
y4:It was a wonderful start to the week as we reviewed what we had studied before. We completed the lesson on "Weather Conditions" where we learned about different types of weather, such as sunny, rainy, windy, and cloudy. The students practiced describing the weather in simple sentences, such as "It is sunny today" or "It is raining." We also discussed how the weather changes in different seasons. The students worked on worksheets and participated in activities where they matched weather conditions with pictures. They also practiced asking and answering questions about the weather, like "What is the weather like today?" and "How is the weather tomorrow?"
We also talked about the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan and did some activities and coloring the Ramadan lantern.
y5: This week was different a lot. So in grade 5 Arabic B we had a quick revision for the last topics they learnt to get ready for the new lesson. We started our new lesson which is "Fi al-matar".  We learnt new form of the verb with I. It was so funny as we started studying recognizing the Arabic letters students learnt the short and long vowels and, they started to  read comprehension skills through regular reading practice. We focus on enhancing their ability to understand texts and grasp the finer details of phonetic structures. Building up on the fore rules students learnt we are completing our work. students good at practicing and understanding and we can help them a lot. We also started this week learning the colors, numbers and everything about myself and finally we had a wonderful celebration of Haq alailah.  
y6:It was a great start to the week as we reviewed what we had studied previously. We completed the lesson on "Famous Cities" where we focused on Dubai and learned about its famous landmarks, such as the Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Mall. The students practiced describing these landmarks using simple sentences, such as "The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world" and "Palm Jumeirah is an artificial island." We also discussed the culture and attractions of Dubai. The students worked on worksheets and participated in group activities where they matched landmarks with their names and locations. They also practiced asking and answering questions about Dubai, such as "Where is the Burj Khalifa?" and "What can you do in Dubai?"  
We also talked about the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan and did some activities and coloring the Ramadan lantern.
                                      Islamic B   /  الإسلامية للناطقين بِغيرها
y2: As we usually do we started greeting students and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to follow our lesson “ surat an-Nas” which we started last week. We made a revision of the lessons (Surat al-Ikhlas), Then we went back to our lesson Allah is my Lord and the meanings of the key words therein. We are working diligently and actively on reviewing Surat Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, with a focus on practicing surat al-Ikhlas, as we encourage students to review and practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery. We already congratulated students with the upcoming of the month of Ramadan next year.  
y3: As we usually do we started greeting students  and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to start our new lesson “ surat al-Qadr”. We made a revision of the lessons "surat ash-sharh". We have reviewed Surahs Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, and we are currently working on memorizing and contemplating surat ash-sharh, as we encourage students to practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery of their recitation  
y4: As we usually do we started greeting students  and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to start our new lesson “ surat al-Fajr”. We made a revision of the lessons surat al-Bayyinah, as we encourage students to practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery of their recitation. We studied the story of the revelation, which added a deep understanding of the meanings of the verses and made the students live with the moments of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We use interactive activities and open-ended dialogues to simplify concepts and enhance students' understanding of the values ​​learned from the lessons, helping them to relate deeply to the teachings of their religion and apply them in their daily lives  
y5: As we usually do we started greeting students  and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to start our new lesson “ surat al-Ghashiyah”. We made a revision of the lessons .surat at-Tariq, as we encourage students to practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery of their recitation. We studied the story of the revelation, which added a deep understanding of the meanings of the verses and made the students live with the moments of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We use interactive activities and open-ended dialogues to simplify concepts and enhance students' understanding of the values ​​learned from the lessons, helping them to relate deeply to the teachings of their religion and apply them in their daily lives  
y6: As we usually do we started greeting students  and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to start our new lesson “ surat an-Nazi’at”. We made a revision of the lessons ( surat at-Takweer). We revised some important islamic concepts like resources of shari'ah, pillars of islam and pillars of iman and prayers. We have reviewed Surahs Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, and we are currently working on memorizing and contemplating verses of Surat at-Takwir, as we encourage students to practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery of their recitation. We studied the story of the revelation, which added a deep understanding of the meanings of the verses and made the students live with the moments of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We use interactive activities and open-ended dialogues to simplify concepts and enhance students' understanding of the values ​​learned from the lessons, helping them to relate deeply to the teachings of their religion and apply them in their daily lives
