Message from the Principal

Dear Parents

Another great YEAR at GPS!

Thank you for all your support in making this a memorable one for all of us. I'd also like to officially thank the teachers and all the staff for their hard work.

Can you believe it? This is the last newsletter for the Academic Year 2024-25. We've had our wonderful Graduations and End of Year Concert - Thank you! Report cards will be sent out electronically and we will officially close the school at 12.00 pm on Tuesday 1st of July.

We finished the week with our first 'End of Year Concert' and handed out our certificates. Next week we have a few fun school trips (don't forget school will be closed next Friday) and that will be it for activities. A successful academic year for all! ❤️

Monica and the crew will be here during the holidays from 9.00am to 2.00pm Monday- Thursday, 9.00am -12.00pm on Friday and 10.00am to 2.00pm on Saturdays.

Dear Students,

With the wonderful Graduation Day celebrations for our FS and Year 6 students, followed by a fun-filled Year-End Party and closing programme, we are now almost at the finishing line of the 2024–2025 academic year—and what an incredible journey it has been!

I want to take a moment to tell you how genuinely proud I am of each one of you. Throughout this year, I’ve seen you grow not only academically, but also in confidence, kindness, and character. You’ve faced challenges with courage, shown resilience when things got tough, and celebrated victories big and small with grace.

As your Wellbeing Coordinator and Vice Principal, it has been my absolute joy to witness your progress and be a part of your school journey.

Now, with summer just around the corner, it’s time for a well-earned rest! But I encourage you to use this time not just to relax, but also to explore, learn, and take care of yourself. Here are some ways you can make the most of your summer:

Get Moving: Go outside and enjoy nature. Whether you play, swim, walk, or dance—keep your body active and your spirits high.

Read Every Day: Let your imagination soar with books. A little reading each day can take you on big adventures.

Be Creative: Try drawing, building, writing stories, or learning a new hobby. Let this be a time to discover what makes you feel excited and inspired.

Care for Your Wellbeing: Get enough sleep, eat well, stay hydrated, and take mindful moments to breathe and feel calm.

Spread Kindness: Help at home, show gratitude, and spend time with people who make you feel good. Kindness is powerful.

As we wrap up this academic year, I want to thank you for making it so meaningful. You have made a difference in your own unique way, and I am truly grateful to have been a part of your year.

FS 1 & 2

What we've done

Happy graduation to our wonderful FS2 students and to our little FS1 children who will be moving up to FS2 next year—what an exciting time for all! What a fantastic concert we had today; we are so grateful to all the families who came to support and watch the children perform with such confidence and joy. This week, the children have been reviewing many of the skills they’ve learned throughout the year as they prepare for their end-of-year assessments, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and progress. Last week, our FS children had a blast designing their own board games and writing rules to go with them. It was a great opportunity to develop turn-taking skills and follow instructions, and they thoroughly enjoyed exchanging and playing each other’s games. We also ended the week on a high note with a successful community event on Friday, where the children represented their school brilliantly. Looking ahead, we have lots of exciting activities planned, including cooking, writing recipes and instructions, and our much-anticipated end-of-year trip to Pizza Express!

It has been such a fantastic year watching your little ones grow. They have learned so much and created such wonderful friendships along the way. We are going to miss them all dearly. Have a wonderful summer filled with joy, laughter, and special moments with family and friends—we hope to see many of you again next academic year!

Year 1

What we've done

This week in Year 1 the children completed their GL English and maths papers, and I am delighted to say they all done so well and I am extremely proud of them all. We painted, we created, we danced and we practiced for our end of year show. And what a show it was, they done absolutely brilliant. We are so grateful to all our amazing parents who came to support us and celebrate a fabulous year at Ghaf.

As we come to the end of a truly special year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for your continued support, kindness, and trust throughout this journey.

It has been an absolute privilege to watch your children grow, learn, and shine in so many ways. Their curiosity, laughter, and resilience have made this year both joyful and rewarding. Behind every happy, confident child is a supportive family—and your encouragement has played a big part in their progress. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of their story. I will always hold fond memories of this class and the wonderful community we have built together.

Wishing you all a restful summer and the very best as your little ones continue their adventure in Year 2 and beyond.

Year 2

What we've done

This week, Year 2 children showed great focus and resilience as they completed their GL assessments. I am very proud of their hard work and determination throughout the year. The highlight of the week was their wonderful performance in the end-of-year ceremony, where they impressed us all with their confidence and enthusiasm. As we say goodbye to Year 2, I want to wish all our children the very best of luck as they move on to the next exciting chapter of their learning journey. Well done, Year 2 — I am so proud of you!

Year 3

What we've done

What a wonderful week we’ve had in Year 3! This week, the children worked incredibly hard as they completed their GL revision and confidently sat their English, Maths, and Science GL assessments. I’m so proud of the focus and determination they showed — a true reflection of all their efforts throughout the year.

To end the week on a high note, the children performed in the End of Year Concert — and what a performance it was! Every single child shone on stage, showcasing their amazing talents, and it was a joy to watch. They made us all so proud!

As we wrap up the academic year, I want to take a moment to say a heartfelt goodbye. It has truly been an honor to teach such a kind, curious, and inspiring group of children. Watching them grow not just academically, but socially, emotionally, and in confidence has been such a rewarding experience. They have shown resilience, compassion, and a love of learning that will take them far.

To my wonderful students: thank you for a magical year. Keep being brave, kind, and curious. I am so proud of you all — well done on a fantastic year!

Year 4

What we've done

As we reach the end of a truly memorable academic year, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on a fantastic final week and celebrate all that Year 4 has achieved in 2024–25.
This week, our hardworking students completed their end-of-year GL assessments in English, maths, and science. We are proud of the focus, determination, and resilience they demonstrated throughout the process. The results will help us understand their progress and celebrate how far they have come this year.
On Thursday, we held a small class party to celebrate the children's efforts and the end of a wonderful year. It was filled with fun, laughter, and some tasty treats—well-deserved after a busy term of learning and growth.
On Friday, the children had the opportunity to watch the FS and Year 6 graduation ceremonies. It was a heartwarming and inspiring experience, giving our students a glimpse of the milestones that lie ahead and a chance to cheer on their fellow learners.
We want to say a huge thank you to all the students for their hard work, enthusiasm, and kindness throughout the year. You have made incredible progress and should be so proud of yourselves. To our parents and families, thank you for your continued support—it has made a big difference.

What we've done

As we near the end of the academic year 2024–2025, our Year 5 students wrapped up this week with pride, excitement, and a real sense of achievement ✨. They completed their GL assessments in English, Maths, and Science with great focus and confidence, showcasing the hard work they’ve put in throughout the year 📚💪.

On Thursday, they enjoyed a well-deserved party, filled with fun, laughter, music, and treats—celebrating with their friends across Key Stage 2 🎉🍰🎶. One of the highlights of the week was their participation in a special celebration, where they performed in the end-of-year concert—impressing everyone with their talent and enthusiasm 🎤🌟.

It’s been a fantastic year of growth, learning, and unforgettable moments. Thank you to all families for your continued support 🙏—wishing you a restful and joyful summer break when it arrives! ☀️🌴

What we've done

As we come to the end of a remarkable academic year, we want to take a moment to celebrate all that Year 6 has achieved.

This week marked the completion of our GL assessments in English, Maths, and Science, and we are proud of the focus and determination the students have shown throughout. These tests reflected the hard work and progress made over the year, and we are confident the results will mirror their efforts.

To celebrate their achievements, the students enjoyed a well-deserved pizza and movie party on Thursday, filled with fun, laughter, and great memories. It was a special way to unwind and enjoy their final days together as a class.

On Friday, we concluded the week with a heartwarming graduation ceremony to honour the journey our Year 6 students have made through primary school. It was a proud moment for all, filled with joy, pride, and a few happy tears as we looked back on their growth and accomplishments.

We would like to thank all of you for your continued support throughout the year. Your encouragement, involvement, and trust have played a crucial role in your child’s success.

Wishing our Year 6 students the very best as they embark on their next chapter. They leave us not only with knowledge but with wonderful memories, friendships, and the values that will guide them forward.

FS :Warm greetings!This week in Kindergarten, we focused on reviewing the Arabic letters from Alif (أ) to Daal (د). The children participated in many fun and engaging activities that helped them recognize the letters, their shapes, and their sounds. Through coloring, matching games, playdough modeling, and interactive songs, the learning process was both enjoyable and effective. Flashcards and storytelling also helped strengthen their understanding and made learning more meaningful.In addition to the letter review, we started practicing our End-of-Year Celebration Song. The children were very excited and showed wonderful enthusiasm during rehearsals. They began learning the lyrics and singing together with joy and confidence.

الصف الثاني : في هذا الأسبوع و هو الخطاب الأخير لهذا العام بدأنا درسنا كما تعودنا دائما بتحية الإسلام و تعليم الطلاب كيفية رد السلام, قمنا بمراجعة شاملة على السور التي تمت دراستها سابقا بدءًا بسورة الفاتحة , الإخلاص , الناس, الفلق , الشرح وسورة العصر ثم انطلقنا في مراجعة عامة على اركان الإسلام و اركان الايمان.

الصف الرابع : في هذا الأسبوع كانت بداية رائعة حيث استطاع الطلاب ان يراجعوا معي جزءًا كبيرًا مما درسوه في الفترة السابقة من سور القرءان الكريم بدءًا من سورة العلق, البينة , الطارق و سورة الغاشية إضافة الى بعضٍ من قصار السور كما قمنا بمراجعة الدرس السابق التعاون سر النجاح, بعدها انطلقنا كالعادة في مراجعة عامة على اركان الإسلام و اركان الايمان و أجزاء من سيرة النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم.

Y 2: This last week and as we usually do we started greeting students and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to start our lesson with revision for what studied along the term. Then we went back to our last lesson My prayer is the light of my life and the meanings of the key words therein. We are working diligently and actively on reviewing Surat Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, with a focus on practicing surat al-fil, as we encourage students to review and practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery. We are currently discussing the pillars of Islam.

Y 3: This last week and as we usually do we started greeting students and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to start our lesson with revision for what studied along the term. We have reviewed Surahs Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, and we are currently working on memorizing and contemplating surat ash-sharh and surat al-Qadr, as we encourage students to practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery of their recitation.

Y 4: This last week and as we usually do we started greeting students and teaching them how to reply to this greeting in Islamic it was so fantastic to start our lesson with revision for what studied along the term. We have reviewed Surahs Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas, An-Nas, and Al-Falaq, and we are currently working on memorizing and contemplating verses of surat al-Bayyinah and surat al-Ghashiyyah, as we encourage students to practice them at home to enhance their memorization and mastery of their recitation. We studied the story of the revelation, which added a deep understanding of the meanings of the verses and made the students live with the moments of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We use interactive activities and open-ended dialogues to simplify concepts and enhance students’ understanding of the values learned from the lessons, helping them to relate deeply to the teachings of their religion and apply them in their daily lives.

¡Bien hecho a todos!

We’ve had another fantastic week and an incredible year in our Spanish lessons across all year groups! I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone for their enthusiasm, dedication, and passion for learning Spanish. Your commitment has not only strengthened your confidence but also helped you grow into capable and enthusiastic linguists.

A big thank you as well to all the parents and carers for your continued support throughout the year. Your encouragement plays a vital role in your child’s learning journey, and we truly appreciate it.

All year groups have completed their assessments with flying colours, and I couldn't be prouder of their hard work, progress, and positive attitude. Their enthusiasm and passion for learning Spanish have helped them grow into confident and capable linguists—¡enhorabuena a todos! I believe our students will continue practising their Spanish over the holidays—and who knows, they might even teach a few words to their parents and friends! By sharing what they’ve learned, they’ll not only reinforce their own skills but also help others discover just how beautiful and inspiring the Spanish language can be.

STREAM

Towers, Tech & Teamwork!

It’s been another exciting, hands-on week in our STREAM classroom! From building wobbly towers to coding clever robots, our students continue to explore, experiment, and create with enthusiasm and teamwork.

FS to Year 2 – Spaghetti & Marshmallow Tower Challenge!

This week, our youngest STREAM learners took part in a STEAM Team Challenge that was equal parts fun and tricky! Using spaghetti noodles and marshmallows, the students worked in teams to build the tallest, strongest towers they could. It was a fantastic way to build collaboration skills while learning about balance, structure, and design—plus a few giggles along the way!

Years 3–6 – Robotics in Progress!

The robotics momentum continues for our upper-year students! This week, they focused on refining their robot designs and programming them to perform more complex tasks using LEGO Spike kits. It’s been amazing to see their logical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity come to life as their robots respond and move just the way they planned!

As always, our STREAM learners are showing us what it means to be curious, capable, and creative. We’re excited for the many more challenges and discoveries ahead!
