The FS children have been settling into their new routines very well. Over the last two weeks we have been exploring our emotions through the wonderful story 'The Colour Monster' by Anna Llenas. The children have been learning how to identify their emotions and ways in which they can regulate them by themselves and with support from an adult. The children have been learning how to breathe away anger, talk about their worries and how to use tactile objects to support some of these processes. We have also been focusing on name recognition, building or writing our names as well as understanding how to take care of our classroom, promoting independence and responsibility. 

Year 1 have had a super first three weeks in school. The children are settling well into their school routine and are excited to learn. We have launched our IPC topic, A Day in the Life and the children have been so engaged in their learning, taking on the role of different occupations. In phonics we have been reviewing all the Phase 2 sounds and are blending CVC words. The children really enjoyed going on a scavenger hunt to find the tricky words of the week and then read them for their friends. In maths, we have been working hard on Place value within 10 and have been enjoying lots of hands on activities.  They have had lots of opportunties to work work with their peers and work independently. 

 Year 2 have had a fantastic start to the academic year. The children have settled into their school routine and are excited to learn. In English, we have been reading our first class text, The gingerbread man, and sequencing the story. In Maths, we have been  learning about place value, particularly about tens and ones. In Science, we have learnt about different habitats and the plants and animals living in them. We have launched our IPC topic, A Day in the Life and the children have enjoyed learning about  the changes in technology. 

Year 3 have started the year with a great adventure ! Along with Year 4, the students experienced their very own private airport where they created and designed their own passports and boarding passes. They then had to check in and enter the airplane , in which they all took turns in taking on different roles such as air hostess, pilots and passengers.  The children also explored the school in search of plants for their upcoming project in Science ! As well as explore numbers through place value. It has been a great start to an exciting year ahead. 

Year 4 have had a fantastic first 3 weeks at school! They have jumped straight into their English work, reading the first 2 chapters of James and the Giant Peach and analysing some of the characters. They also created character descriptions about James' aunts using their very own similes! In maths, Year 4 have been working on their Place Value unit, looking at place value within 10,000. In science, the class have started their unit on electricity. They looked at how electricity is generated and created their very own TV scripts, in order to teach others about what they have learned! In IPC, they have started an exciting unit called 'Gateways to the World!' To begin this, we turned our classroom into an airport and took part in lots of fun airport-related activities! The class also created their own presentations on Microsoft  Powerpoint, to document a journey they have taken from Dubai to another destination.

WOW! What a fantastic start to the academic year! The children have settled into their school routine and are raring to learn. In English, we have been reading our first class text, The BFG, and describing the main characters. In Maths, we have reviewed some of our Year 4 knowledge and learnt about place value, particularly the value of each digit in a seven-digit number. In Science, we have identified the parts of a flower and their functions. In IPC, we have started an exciting unit called 'Express Yourself' and have explored the random acts of kindness we can do in our everyday lives.

Year 7 and 8 have started the year with a bang, acclimatising to our new rules, routines and class mates. We start our mornings off with a brain teaser, over the last 3 weeks theres been a focus on word jumbles! Our English lessons are comprised of a weekly Spelling, Grammar, Comprehension and children as writers lessons. Our latest addition are travel articles the students have created on their very own destination. Math lessons on the other hand have been based on getting our foundations in place for our more intricate topics coming up ahead. Moral education has seen us learning more and more about this wonderful country while in IPC we look ot explore our emotions and how our expressions can affects those around us. Our scientists have been working scientifically and running fair tests. Lastly in Humanities, we have been looking into China and its strategic location and rich history.

Bienvenido to our  Spanish world , this week students had a lot of fun in Spanish we listened songs, dance and did so many activities along with that  prepared Spanish passports also we prepare cover for our books which were decorated by our students . Coming weeks will do more amazing things in our Spanish .

The students have been very busy in STREAM class over the last two weeks. The children in FS had lots of fun making the inflatable hand glove and completing their paper teddy bear while years 1 and 2 did a community helper hat and a miniature model of a community using recyclables and different craft materials. Years 3 and 4 created a timeline that illustrates the advancements in transportation throughout history in groups. Students in year 5 enjoyed creating a digital drawing of their emotions using their technology skills and their creativity in arts. Years 7 and 8 learned about aerodynamics where they applied what they've learned in designing and constructing their model paper aeroplane that can fly and stay in the air for a long time.
