The Week of Monday, November 18

Gervais beat Stanfield on Friday by the score18-6 and will be playing Oakland HS in the OSAA 2A state football semifinals on Saturday, 11/23 at Cottage Grove HS. Kickoff is set for 4:30PM 



If you didn’t see them this morning – There is new sports equipment for GMS recess. There are 4 new basketballs, 4 volleyballs, 2 wallballs, and when we go outside 2 new soccer balls and 2 Nerf footballs.  Please share this equipment and take care of it. Now that we have new sports equipment for recess, Mrs. Johnson does not want you to bring your basketballs or volleyballs from home. Starting today, only use the GMS recess equipment.  Thank You and have fun! 













The Week of Tuesday, November 12

Friday’s Get Air Reward Trip names are posted in the main hall. Permission slips will be handed out in your homeroom today. The $5 and permission slip MUST be returned to the office by 3:00 Thursday.

The Week of Monday, November 4

There have been questions about the 1st quarter reward trip to Get Air. Tuesday is the end of 1st quarter. Once grades are completed by the teachers, a list will be made of students who qualify. The trip is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15 (which is two weeks from today). Permission slips will be handed out on Tuesday, Nov. 12th    to all qualifying students and must be returned to the office with $5.00 by Thursday, Nov. 14th.


Wall Ball is back! The far-left corner is once again labeled for wall ball. The directions are still on the yellow pole. Ask for a rubber wall ball for that game. Have fun!

Question: What was your favorite class in college and why?

 

Answer: This answer is coming from Mrs. Stevens (our superintendent). She said her favorite class was the student leadership class because she liked to work with her peers to solve problems and make the campus a better place for everyone.

 

GMS has a leadership class and if you see yourself being a leader, wanting to solve problems and making GMS a better place, please ask Mr. Hill all about his leadership class and how you can get in it















The Week of Monday, October 28

Volleyball players please don’t forget to turn in your uniform by tomorrow. Also, don’t forget there is a volleyball party in the gym from 4 pm to 5: 30 pm tomorrow. 


Exciting news!!! C team won their game playing 5 games and winning 3!! Please give a high five to all volleyball players for fighting hard for a win this week and ending the season strong! Ms. Aloha wants for thank you for a great season! 


Don’t forget our volleyball party will be in the gym at 4 pm, next Tuesday. There will be food, awards, and a volleyball game against the parents!

Question: Do you have a favorite teacher/professor? Tell why this teacher impacted you.

 

Answer: Mrs. Johnson favorite teacher/professor was a math professor in college, who was deaf. She was the best math teacher Mrs. Johnson has ever had. The teacher not only taught her math but to not let people tell you that you can’t do something. Many people told the teacher that she could not be a teacher because she was deaf but boy, they were wrong.


wrestling practice has begun. We meet outside of the locker rooms after school. Practice is 3:15-5:15 everyday. Everyone is welcome  to come  try it out.  


Popcorn attendance challenge – Starts on Monday through Friday of next week. Be here all 5 full days and get 1 or less tardies and you will get a fresh popped bag of popcorn on Friday during Fun Friday. Lets’ see if everyone can meet the challenge.

All students interested in Oregon Battle of the Books please come see Mr. Fenner sometime this week. Not sure if you're interested in Battle of the Books? Come by anyway. We will start meeting the first week in November. Thank you!


1. Today is our last away volleyball game for A and B team in Colton. Players will be dismissed at 2:30 pm. Also, we will be stopping by McDonald’s after the game, so please don’t forget your dinner money. 


2. Tomorrow, boxing is after school. Football and soccer players, if you can interested in boxing on Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:15 pm, please get a permission slip from Ms. Aloha. If any student has a slip, get those in to Ms. Aloha, ASAP, so you can get your boxing on tomorrow. 


Its college and career announcement Wednesday. This one is coming from Ms. Aloha.

 

Question: What was the career you thought you were going to have when you were in middle school?

 

Answer: Ms. Aloha had no idea what career she wanted to do in middle school. She moved from Southern California to a small town in Oregon her 7th grade year and adjusting to the new life in Oregon. In high school, she work in a bakery for her first job. She served bake goods and served meals as a waitress.


All middle school students – You are not allowed to go into the high school at the end of school. If you are a bus rider, you must go into and stay in the gym until your bus arrives. If you are a walker or parent pick up student, you must leave from the front of the school parking lot. Any middle school students going into the high school after 3:00 pm will be escorted out and will be given community service. 


It is now less then 2 weeks to the end of 1st quarter. If you want to go to the reward trip to Get Air – You must have C’s or better in all classes and be passing homeroom. Get those missing assignments turned in ASAP!











The Week of Monday, October 14

16 days left of 1st quarter which ends Nov. 5. If you want a day of fun with your friends at Get Air Trampoline Park you MUST have 70% (C-) or better in all classes and pass homeroom. There is still time. Check your grades, turn in missing assignments, and do your best work. We want everyone going. 


Here is your career and college announcement: Dandy Stevens, our school district superintendent, which is an important position, first job was a housekeeper for a bed and breakfast at 13 years old. She mentioned it was hard work and long hours. She did not enjoy it but she did enjoy that she didn’t have to work any nights and never had to work before 8 am. 


Give a round of applause for the volleyball B team. B team had a great win last night! Great work ladies! 


“A” team is still going strong, working hard to get a win. They are so close. You got this, ladies!

Please turn in boxing slips to Ms. Aloha ASAP. Boxing is tomorrow after school in the gym.

In the last few days, staff have noticed several students wearing blankets around the school. This is not allowed. Please either leave your blankets at home or in your locker. If you are cold, please wear a sweatshirt or coat. Thank You - 


Volleyball-  B team lost but played a good game and A team lost in three but fought back and played a great game, won one and lost 2.

Here is the question: Have you ever had another career path – or did you always know you would become a teacher? Mrs. Lopez said that she loves working with flowers and being in a garden, so being a florist was a possible career path but instead she decided to be a teacher and she loves it.
