Application Guidelines

Application Deadline is March 31, 2023

Dear student,

Thank you for your interest in our REU program in Southeastern Coastal Plain Ecosystems. Prior to completing your application, please make sure you've done the following:

1) have unofficial transcripts available to upload.

2) develop a statement of interest (1 page max) stating your reasoning for participating in the program, career goals, and what you plan to get out of the program.

3) read carefully through the list of faculty mentors and be ready to select 3 prospective mentor choices. You should make these selections based on the type of research you'd like to conduct during the summer.

4) list the contact information (e.g., name and email) for at least two academic references (e.g., a professor or academic adviser).

5) instruct your two academic references (e.g., a professor or academic adviser) to complete the Adviser/Mentor Recommendation Form and upload their reference letters using the link provided. *Your references will not be contacted directly by the program to request their letters'.

Preference will be given to students whose primary interest is a career in biological research, and who plan to pursue a masters or Ph.D. Notification of award will occur in late March or early April.
