Drama Club

"Love art in yourself, and not yourself in art."

The purpose of the Drama Club is to learn about acting, play production, and stage work. The Georgetown High School drama club is for anyone in the school who loves or has a passion for theatre. They do not have to be in a theatre, acting or technical, to be a part of it.

The Drama Club is responsible for organizing outside play opportunities and group activities.

Drama club meets on Mondays or Wednesdays -- dates are TBD

"Act well your part; there all the honor lies."

Every November, members of the Georgetown Theatre Department go on a trip to Dallas with the other school in the district to learn, participate, and compete at the Texas Thespians Festival. Students do not need to be a part of Troupe #1149 to attend festival, but to compete and go to Nationals they do need to be inducted.

For more specific information please visit the ITS website or the Texas Thespians website.

In the 2018/2019 year school two students qualified for the National Festival in June of 2019:

  • Berkley Landreth, Freshman -- Solo Musical
  • Abigail Simpson, Senior -- Costume Construction

Festival Information

The International Thespian Society (ITS), founded in 1929, is an honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students located at more than 4,900 affiliated secondary schools across America and abroad.

The mission of ITS is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts. High school inductees are known as Thespians. Thespians are able to compete in the Thespian Festival for awards, accolades, and scholarships.

Inductions occur twice a year -- during Fall Show and at the end of the year theatre banquet. Pick up a point sheet from Poehls in The Little Theatre.
